  • Smoked Brown Sugar Ham - Using a Pit Boss Memphis Ultimate 4 in 1 Smoker Grill.
    Were testing our new Pit Boss Memphis Ultimate 4 in 1 Smoker Grill. Were just going to smoke something small and simple to test the Pit Boss Memphis Ultimate 4 in 1 Smoker Grill using Hickory wood chips and just a plain brown sugar glaze for flavoring.

    I’m gunna smoke my trinidad scorpion peppers tonight. Eventually I’ll crush and grind them so I can make powder. This was very helpful as I’ve never used my Memphis smoker yet.

    You should get yourself a meat probe with a long wire. So you don't have to open the door. The good ones will beep when it's the temp you want

    Is there a way to have an internal temp guage in the meat with the wire running outside the grill? Would the smoker still work that way?

    • @dave507233
      @dave507233  Рік тому +1

      Most external thermometer has the small wire and you just close the door on the wire, it will still close and wont affect the heat of the smoker at all and it wont hurt the temp gage either as that is really how they are designed.

      @dave507233 excellent. I was hoping that was the case. You still like the "all in one"?

      The temp gauge is in the glass window on the smoker. Thanks for watching the video.

      I was going to suggest contacting pit boss but I see you did already. Only thing I can suggest is either the heating element is bad or possibly the outlet you plugged into might be a 15 amp outlet and its not getting enough juice. Try to make sure to plug into a 20 amp outlet.

    • @marco785
      @marco785 2 роки тому +1

      @@dave507233 ok thanks. I believe it may be plugged into a 15amp. I will run an extension cord to one I know is 20. Iva been fighting this problem for over a year now. I hope this is the fix!! I even complained so much my wife bought me a electric Masterbuilt smoker. I like it but I shouldn’t have had to that. I’ve had many conversations with pit boss changed the element still to no avail.

      Smoking over 250 isn't smoking, it's likely designed that way

      You’re supposed smoke at low temperatures but it is also an oven. Mine was able to reach 350+ degrees F even during cold weather baking a turkey during thanksgiving. I closed the dampers and vents shut to keep heat in and I molded several layers of heavy duty aluminum foil and covered the outside glass part of the door cause there’s a lot of heat loss there (I wish they made it double pane). You can probably make it hotter if you put foil on the inside part of the glass too but I wanted to be able to peel back the foil to look inside. I have a 1/4” thick aluminum sheet that I plan to custom cut to fit and cutout for the thermometer and attach it with hinges and simple latch or rods & magnets to keep in place.

    mine won't go higher then. 250

    • @dave507233
      @dave507233  Рік тому +2

      Most of smoking is done between 200 and 250, you could also be sure to use wood chips rather than the pellets as the burns hotter. Be sure to get some liquids in the drip tray to build steam which also help bring the heat up. And one last thing is to be sure that the electric cord is plugged into a 20 amp outlet as the 15 amp outlets tend not to have enough power to get the heat higher.

    • @marco785
      @marco785 Рік тому

      Let me know if you find the heat problem. I don’t care what your definition of “smoking” is the grill is supposed to go up to 500 so that’s what I expect it to do. Also it’s 1500watts 15 amp should be plenty to run it. 15amp can hold 1500-2000watts.
