    This grill is awesome, if you are new at smoking this is excellent but it will soon make you want to upgrade to a real smoker. The igniter stopped working for me in less than a year which is probably a easy fix but I just use a long lighter for now until it warms up and I figure out what is wrong with it. The rubber rings around the knobs fall off almost the first time you use it during the cold weather but that usually happens to all the grills when being used in the cold by weather. The black paint gets ugly water stains very easily especially if you cover the grill with any moisture on the grill which will happen if you are cooking and it starts to rain. The white residue Mark's are very hard to remove. Probably easier to repaint with some high temp paint. All in all it works wonderful besides the cosmetics but I used it 3 or more times a week.

      Martin Todd in : Reply to this comment from 11 months ago ..very Strang to this comment.. but there Could be another martin Todd ...I Did buy the grill 11 months ago ...But I have never made a comment online as to the grill.. is it possible that when you fill out the warranty they post " Possity comment in your name from your warranty card.. I am sure companies have people that do just that .. OK here are my comments on the Pitt Boss Memphis edition after 11 months of ownership .. both tops of the grill have rusted out - both temperature gages have malfunctioned and basically do not work or are useable. I have owned many BBQ grills and the last one I had was in better shape as the steel goes the day I gave to my neighbors and sits on his patio and is working just fine.. the steel cage to too thin...the BTU of the grill is ok when you first buy it but in 6 months it loses it BTU value quickly. So I will be Turbo Charging the grills gas system with a couple of simple tricks .. 1) buy a second layer of grates..2) cover those gates with lava rocks that hold heat much long 3) I am changing the standard BTUs of 35,000 and 3/8 hose to a 1/2 inch hose with a 40-50 K regulator and just keep it and use it until its wore out.. P.S. as to the comments made by Martin Todd.. my rings on the knobs have not come off.. and I don't live in cold weather. must be another Martin Todd

    I just bought the memphis Ultimate 2.0 for 397 on sale from the original 697. Hoping that was a good grab, have you tried a brisket in that thing? If so, did you have to refill the wood tray and how did that affect your smoke?

      You have to refill the wood chips after about 3-4 hrs depending on the temp. So if you're making a larger brisket you'll have to do that. It gets back to it's amazing smokeyness within 5 minutes

    I know this is an old post but do you think you could cook a pizza on the charcoal side? And would the charcoal side use lump charcoal or does it need briquettes?
    I have a pit boss that is on its last leg and I have an older Green Egg. Looking for a replacement for both.

    I want one of these but theyre £1000 in the UK. Thats a big commitment. Do you think its worth the money? How is the grill holding up now?

    • @tiyawn29
      @tiyawn29 3 роки тому

      For that price,you expect from a grill to NOT be in such a worse condition after just 1 year.
      The best thing you can do is to decide if you want gas or charcoal.
      For that price you can get a very good and durable gas or charcoal grill.
      Not both.
      If you are looking to spend £1000 every 2 years,then go for this grill.
      If you like to grill a lot, this grill will literally start to fall apart in 2 years.

      Thanks for these comments. I have been very interested in this grill. But I prefer quality. So I think I will pass on this one and buy 1 quality grill every 5 years or so until I have this combo of three. Any suggestions on what 3 different grills o would aim for?

    Hi there! Thanks for the review! There's just one thing I'm still not sure about: if you're just using the smoker, is the heat coming up from the smoker sufficient for the gas grill to smoke pulled pork/spareribs or do you have to turn on the gas grill as well?

    • @DNRGarage
      @DNRGarage  5 років тому +2

      The gas grill would need to be turned on. Not enough heat from just the smoker.

    • @toddrisden5793
      @toddrisden5793 3 роки тому

      you need to buy a cast Iron smoker box.. walmart for $18.00 and then set it on fire Before put it in the smoke to jump-start the smoke and the 200 degrees will keep it going and keep adding to it ..or you can run the smoker at full temp for 30 minutes and then turn it down before adding your meats

    • @mramericanmuscle40
      @mramericanmuscle40 2 роки тому

      I disagree with the suggestion. I have this unit and when I first got the unit my smoker burner burned out before I got a good smoke. So check to make sure to whole coil is turning red hot. I had Danson or pitboss grills send me the part it worked great but the key is make sure you pack the tray good because the heat in the box accumulates to burn the wood and after it starts it burns very well. Start your wood burn 15min before adding food and set your knob to high. Also be careful no to let the water from your water tray fall down into you wood box. Do this and you will be good
