The Same people saying she was black, are probably the same people who think having a black female Jarl on Vikings is stunning and brave.
That's more historically and culturally accurate than The Northman.... I kid.

I had a pair of leftie friends that subjected me to that series telling me it was historically accurate.
I laughed in their faces involuntarily and told them that the idea that a black woman was a warband leader in the viking world is a complete fabrication.

She was pro BLM, while she subdued her neighbors to the south.
That’s even more proof she was an affluent whyte woman actually…
I loved when Cleopatra said "I don't know what is a woman, but i know that black lives matter". Such a good scene, still sends shivers down my spine.
My favorite was the scene where she said "it's sphinxing time" and proceeded to sphinx all over everything!
She tried hard to stay woke despite being a Pharaoh. Brave Black woman!

Making her black is instant proof the creators of the show are both woke, and haven't actually read any history.... but I repeat myself
When Assassins Creed is more historically accurate than a "documentary".

To be fair, AC puts a sensationalized and artistic flair unto historical events using superhuman protagonists as the canvas. ACIII was actually not a terrible retelling of the American Revolution for what it's worth. Is it over the top and ridiculous? Yeah. But they at least put in one part truth for every 2 parts of lies.
The whole ancient ancestors thing in ac is more realistic than half the crap race grifters come out with.

calling Cleopatra Black as she was Pharaoh of Egypt is like saying Queen Victoria was Indian as Empress of India
Or Biden is Native American as President of the United States of America.
Exactly, the name gives it away. No African woman or person would name their kids Cleopatra back in those days. Try finding a black person back in those days named Jon. Not even a needle in a haystack.

You know how you can tell Cleopatra was Greek? Because her name was Cleopatra Philopator Ptolemy. She was named in Greek, from a Greek family.
Even if she was a native Egyptian, Egypt is in North Africa and is part of the Middle Eastern sphere, dominated by what we now refer to as Arab and Persian ethnic groups.
I don't know whether any of the portraits/carvings of her are actually accurate, but even the ancient artists seem to agree on what she looked like - Slim, pretty, sharp nose, olive skin. The cartoon of her in Asterix is probably closer to life than Netflix. If you were casting a movie, you might end up casting Gal Godot (although IMHO Gal is a bit too Amazon).
It's just... It's wrong to lie about historical facts.

Fun fact, the idea of the ancient Egyptians being black came from a race grifter in the US during the 60s. He saw the broken nose on the Sphinx, and decided it was done on purpose to hide the "black nose." He had never been to egypt...but saw some pictures and became an "expert."
Id not be surprised.
Anyone know where we can get more info on the origins of the "Black Egyptians" theory?
Just wondering where and when all this crud started. 🤷♀️
David Starkey is going to have to revise his statements about the source of all The World's bad ideas, it looks like the US is the front runner now...
Nope, you are either a grifter yourself or painfully ignorant.
The scholar who first remarked that the facial features of the Sphinx were that of a n*gro ("the true face of the mulatto") was the eminent historian, Constantin-François de Chasseboeuf, comte de Volney. He wrote this in his great work "Voyage en Égypte et en Syrie", which was published in 1787.
It must be said, however, that according to the classical pantheon, the Ancient Greeks reported ad nauseum that the Ancient Egyptians were Black Africans. They believed them to be a "colony of the Ethiopians", which was what they called Black Africans.
You are no better than the leftists; you vehemently defend your half baked positions, and you constantly strawman your opponents.
it is true that the southern kingdoms were black.
Neither was Anne Boleyn, but it's always obvious what they're up to. Some people truly believe that the Ancient Egyptians were sub saharan.
The best part is they don't even know what sub-Saharan means.
It is not possible, the spread of smallpox shows Sub Saharan Africans had no contact with Ancient Egypt.
The Nubians were the only Africans to make pyramids, if I remember right. And their pyramids weren't exactly symmetrical...
The people that push that are the "we wuz kangs" crowd.
"Sub-Saharan? You mean we wuz _below_ da Sahara? Das raycis!"

The oldest daughter was about 11 or 12 at the time, and one day she told me that her teacher told her that Cleopatra was "an African-American". I explained to her that in Cleopatra's time, there was no such thing as "an African-American", that Cleopatra wasn't black, and that she was actually of Greek descent. We’ve treated the African in America like a childish invalid for so long and not refuted their lies so those lies prevail.
This is such an Americanization of history and I'm American, but I'm literate enough to know that there are different African Histories. We only see it as "black history" because of our American racial political lens. There were "black" empires, the Nubians, the Mali Empire, etc. Egypt has thousands of years of history, it was conquered by the black Nubians for a period, it was conquered by the white Greeks for a period, but it has primarily been inhabitated by olive skinned Arab/Mediterranean type people which is exactly what you would expect to see based on its location and it's what you still see today. Most Black Americans come from Western central Africa, Egypt is in Northeast Africa. Egypt is closer to Mediterranean Europe than Western Africa. I am a Northern European by ancestry, I don't have any cultural connection to Egypt, even though my ancestors would have been about the same distance away from Egypt as most Black American ancestors. Even if the Egyptians were black, they still have no cultural or direct genealogical connection to black Americans. We only have that view because we have an anachronistic idea of racial solidarity that would have been completely foreign to the ancient world and I would venture is still foreign to most Africans today.
All of those northern Africans are invaders. They are not native to that land.
Cleopatra was of Greek/Persian decent. She also had a family tree that didn't fork all that much.

Most of what we know about Cleopatra VII which derives from sources contemporary to her life or nearly so, are Roman, chiefly Cicero and Pliny the Younger. Both are scathing of her morals but admiring of her intellect and political acumen. There are also hieroglyphic inscriptions in Egypt that were commissioned by Cleopatra when she was co-ruler of Egypt with her son Ptolemy XV. These inscriptions don't say much other than proclaim Cleopatra to be the incarnation of the goddess Isis, that her son was conceived by the god Ceasar, and that everybody must reverently obey. At least one of these inscriptions is accompanied by a bas-relief of the queen that looks exactly like most depictions of Isis rather than Cleopatra herself, which was traditional in Pharaonic art. However, Cleopatra issued gold, silver, and electrum coins that bear her profile on the obverse side. These portrait coins are very similar in their artwork and they frankly show a rather plain-looking European woman with a Roman nose and hair coiffed in the Attic style, in other words, a Greek. There is also the head of a monumental statute recovered from the harbor of Alexandria that closely resembles the person seen on the Cleopatra coins. None of these artworks plausibly depict a Negro.
All of this comes primarily from American blacks who are uninterested in the actual history of black Africa, and would rather steal the history of other peoples than do the hard work of researching their own.
Thats because the black hole has nothing in it, just sucks all matter and light around it. Kinda like they're history
It boggles my mind that they're willing to believe that they once possessed all of those cultural, societal, religious, and agricultural achievements, and decided they were bored of it all one day and reverted back to Mesolithic tech. Cleopatra was black. She became Jewish and took on her husband's name - Schwartz. Together, they were unstoppable. Well documented by Samuel L Bronkowitz.
2:44 You nailed that Jamaican accent 😂
Saying Cleopatra was black is like calling Joe Biden the most popular president in American history.
Wow, history is so cool!
Or like calling Obama the first black president without also calling him the 44th white president.
Do not do that - do not change the subject.
@@GraceCanadaful it's an analogy.

So dead ppl were into her..?
My favourite part was whe Cleopatra said 'english motha fukka do you speak it' then dropped Hans grubba from the top of nakatomi tower. Truly inspirational.
Then quipped, I let him go.
This reminds me of the drama that was around the Night at the Museum movie. Because people were getting outraged over Rami Malek being too light to be Egyptian and accused of white washing.
Unfortunately this isn't the first time that exported US "culture" has caused problems for Europe. I believe there was some serious issues when eugenics started to take off.
I just stopped by to say i laughed really loud on the title "Greek is the new black"

My brother has to take some DEI class about Mediterranean history and it's riddled with revisionism. The professor literally tried arguing that Greeks aren't white or European and that even the Romans were not white. She then had the class watch the movie 300 where she attempted to argue the film was anti-muslim propaganda to inspire support for the wars in Iraq and the Afghanistan. Apparently she has lately been lecturing about the transatlantic slave trade and how evil America is, keep in mind this is supposed to be a course about Ancient Mediterranean civilization. What made me laugh the most though was a video he recorded of the class where a bunch of the lefties were trying to articulate why the movie the eagle was an American Imperialist propaganda film and they kept saying the actors spoke American when they should be speaking Scottish. Like how stupid can people be?
Believe me, if you're a member of the woke Brigade, stupidity knows no bounds

As an American I do and always have understood the ethnic diversity of Africa, you were wrong on that point. Not all Americans are stupid and uneducated. There is a battle being waged between those of us who are intelligent and fact based and those that have an agenda and have no use for facts.
The guy that designed the Cheddar Man statue explicitly stated he made him that shade to disconnect Anglos from their history and delegitimise their right to exist as a distinct people.
He intentionally made him darker and bragged about it.

@@chad93728 I can’t remember for the live of me…
The cheddar man statue is funny though because while they said he was dark skin because he wasn’t really European yet, or been native to Europe long enough to develop white skin. But why then give him blue eyes and long straight light brown hair, both thing associated genetically with European (white) people and low melanin (white skin). Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense even including some modern day Syrians, Semetic Jews, and Westerners who might look like that but it’s because of recent genetic mixing. If this was to be done to any other group of people I might remember that word I’m stumped on.

I am glad the Greeksa and Egyptians are standing up for their History.
Almost 30 years ago, paleontologist Jack Horner floated the hypothesis that T.rex was not an opportunist hunter, but an obligate scavenger. His supporting arguments were weak and multiple fossils of healed T.rex bite wounds have since been recovered, disproving his hypothesis. He never published the idea in a paper and he came out and said that he didn't float the idea as a serious piece of academia, but just as an exercise in questioning assumptions.
30 years later, articles on T.rex are still ripe with references to a great debate among paleontologists about whether T.rex could hunt or not. A debate that never took place.
All it takes is one academic making a comment in a mainstream media publication, not even a peer-reviewed claim in any published literature. And before you know, there's apparently a huge academic debate raging in the field.
Jack Horner is not only a fraud but a subverter who only wants fame and glory as a history remaker.
If you follow James Lindsey most of the Woke education literature starts out this way. Deliberately.
Particularly when confirmation bias is at play. Like that Swedish idiot that tried to claim that Vikings were Muslim. Just so happened when the immigration crisis kicked off… She had zero proof, but other academics and MSM still ran with it.
My theory is that T-Rex had such short stubby arms that he couldn't text and read what he was writing at the same time. Also he could only play bass guitar due to not having enough fingers to play a six-string.

Even Rameses had European DNA, likely left when his ancestors brought chariots, horses, and took over the Egyptian empire. Since they tested the DNA however, they've said there was an unspecified error and the mummy has gone into hiding.
He didn't have European DNA
Thanks, Hyksos!
@@ashlibabbittcroakedit9108 It's not possible to say, since his DNA apparently has not been tested. King Tut's has, and it actually does indicate Indo-European heritage, which makes sense because the Hittites and Mitanni, two related Indo-European peoples, for a time sent their princesses to be at least pharaohs' concubines.

Basically Egyptians weren'd black full stop. There was a very brief window in time when during one of Egypt's period of decline, possibly the worst decline in its history, they were ruled remotely by Nubians (I believe) who had actually adopted Egyptian culture to some extent and believed the egyptians weren't upholding it properly. The reason why the nubians had adopted it was because they were basically the Egyptian's whipping boy for one or two thousand years. They were actively very much anti-black for the majority of their history. These "black kings" ruled for something like a 60 year period, which is pretty minimal given the length of time Egypt has been around.
Otherwise the Egyptians looked pretty much like the Arabic/desert people that lived just north of them. So, probably not many with blonde hair and blue eyes, but the general population did not look like sub saharan Africans. As it turns out their heritage is actually LESS black the further back you go.
This isn't necessarily 100% correct, but to my knowledge this is the general understanding of the ethnicity of ancient Egyptians.
It's not like we don't have statues, paintings, frescos, coins that all depict her as white, but what Grandma said is what really matters!
Mary Beard also knowingly manipulated people's understanding with history, when talking about a grave inscription which said they were from "Africa" she knows this means the Roman province in Modern North Africa(Not black) even more European then than now, but that is not how she portrayed it.
Yes the roman empire covered vast swathes of land. Julius caeser will be played by will Smith soon.
Royalty now studios did a fantastic reconstruction of her based on statues. She was a smouldering redhead!
Rameses II was a redhead too.
That would explain why she's being rebooted as a black person. It's always the redheads...
@@somedandy7694 can’t have shit as a redhead
King Tut's grandmother was also a redhead.
actually, this was based on mummified hair.
if one has studied a little in archeology, [before current thing era], one will note that all mummified hair is red.
it's a product of the mummification process.
the reason that mammoths were allways portrayed as red haired is for this reason.
the mammoth lived in a near permafrost environment and would most likely have been white coated as a consequence.
it's something I noticed when studying mummified remains in exhibits during the '70s.
as a child of 5-6 I had allready noted that all hair on all remains of mammals was allways the same red ochre colour.
even chinese mummies have this russet colouration, yet this does not ever occur in chinese art.
Imagine how we feel about this as Egyptians, to say we are LIVID about this would be an understatement.
And the Greek people too are equally livid about this. To hell with you Jada Smith and to hell with Netflix
