One thing I think you missed: Falcon’s forward smash was also changed in smash ultimate to be like a back handed punch.
I think he also missed two changes for Samus : the down tilt change in Melee and the forward smash change in Smash 4.
Isn’t that just aesthetic?
Poop Consumer no the range was also heavily reduced
@@dcdub11 but didn't he say he wasn't going over the changes of stuff like the range, the anesthetic, or the launch distance of the move.

@@chrisbeach423 just look it up
you could select zss on the character select screen in brawl by holding Z when you pressed start to start the match
I did not know that
You could also changed between the two mid match without a final smash by inputting up taunt, down taunt, then up taunt again. The timing is pretty strict though and really hard to pull of but it does work.
This whole time I thought Zero Suit just wasn’t playable after unlocking Samius in sub space without a final smash
Ive been looking so far to see how to do this, thanks :D
@@Rat_the_Renegade I knew about the character select screen thing, but not this.
Context for the Kirby suicide forward and back throws in melee: this aspect of these moves turns out to be useless (and actually even less favorable for Kirby) because the opponent can just jump out of it, while Kirby will still plummet into the blast zone. You can see Mario do this in the clip used for the forward throw in this video. This also applies to back throw. All of this also means you can just jump out of the forward and back throws even without Kirby jumping off the stage, making them completely useless as long as the opponent knows this (and if they don’t, they’ll just hit jump while mashing anyways, leading to the same result).
They did my boi reeeaaaal dirty in melee lol
And they still do Kirby dirty to this day. They had one good Kirby character ever, which was Meta Knight in Brawl, and since then Sakurai has been trying to seem modest by making all the Kirby characters trash
@@willycheez7218 Kirby was the second best in 64.
You forgot that Link’s neutral B in Ultimate makes the arrow a throwable item that could be picked up and put into the bow, allowing for Link to fire two arrows. Also, Bowser’s side b was a command grab if you got close in Melee, kinda like how Lucario’s works.
He also forgot that links boomerang was changed to a gale boomerang in brawl, then changed back to a normal boomerang for ultimate
What about his final smash?
@@allofit6978 BiG BRAIN
Why the hell do I care about arrows. Damage wise it looks the same.

Characters in 64: cha cha, real rough
Man if they had Daisy use all of Peach's previous moves
(including the unmentioned changes to her throws)
She'd feel a lot more in character
I know right? And the code for those moves is there. I'm sure the development team has it somewhere.
At least for that up air that would be a good replacement
Missed one: in Link’s final smash, he uses the ancient bow instead of doing the triforce slash that the other links have
Man, I miss that Triforce slash. That one was so satisfying.
@@firnenlegacy I mean you got Young Link and Toon Link to fill that gap. Even though Young Link’s final smash should be something different
@@MultiMario2306 Eh, I guess. I never really play YL or Toon though.
@@firnenlegacy bc they suck
@@yourehereforthatarentyou The potential for Young Link in this game is actually quite frightening.
As for Toon Link, eh, his moveset just really isn't my preference. YL's is more similar to Link's (:
Bowser's side B, in Melee, was a command grab, but it was looking like a simple grab and pummel. It also had an hitbox (like you said)
I would add that the grab also had two follow-up options, a combo set-up, and a really powerful KO throw.
Thanks for mentioning this. Bowser is 1000% my favorite character in melee, and yes I’m seeking help
no, there were 2 throws as well.
You forgot that in Smash 64, Ness’ neutral B was PK Fire and in Melee they changed it to PK Flash and made PK Fire his side B. In Smash 4 PK Starstorm looked was like a waterfall and you could angle it.
(13:15) Did you determine Luigi's final smash on that clip alone?
His final smash has different effects:
- weaker attack power
- weight reduction
- increased tripping chance
- adding flower on head
- instant shield break
- uncontrollable taunting
- sleeping
- time slowdown
These effects are random and does not apply all of them at once; and sometimes no effects are applied.
So Negative Zone is similar to Sephiroth's Supernova final smash, just with more random effects? (Sephiroth can reverse controls, give flinching damage, put the opponent into free fall, or as Poppt calls it "special fall," and put them to sleep. Don't quote me on that, tho. I haven't played Sephiroth at all, and I haven't memorized the possible effects of Supernova, tho I know reversed controls for a fact.)
He forgot that Link's boomerang in Brawl to where the returning boomerang was a windbox with no hitbox.
That was introduced in Brawl.
Well if u customize him u can get the regular boomerang
Link final smash
The Gale Boomerang.
16:52 Bowser’s side B in Melee was still a command grab, it just worked differently. If you were close enough, he’d grab his opponent, then you’d have the option of biting them by pressing B, or throwing them with the control stick. If your opponent was further away, they’d just get slashed by Bowser’s claws.
They should’ve added in ultimate when Mario’s Fludd is charge he can actually wear it on his back forever till he uses it
0:08 I get what you mean but this is why
You might wanna check your spelling
@@imaksta Fludd, everything's coming up Milhouse
Daniscroy oh your right sorry

Corretione italiano: Ness UltraSmash was like most UltraSmash´s changend in Smash 4 and you could angle it. It was also way faster and longer than it is now and my favorit ult. In Ultimate you can also change the spreading of the meteors by pressing up and down.
5:16 actually, you can select Zamus in Brawl from the character selection screen. It just isn't obvious. If you're using the wiimote and nunchuk, you just hold Z before selecting Samus and keep hold of Z until you've selected a stage. Then you start the fight as Zamus
Heres the best change the Smash team ever made: Changing Mario's fair to that FoRwArD aErIaL.
Truuuue
That was Alpharad and Alpharad alone
😂😂😂
Please stop. You're making this worse for all of us.
But "Forward Aerial" is what fair stands for
Anyone else notice that whenever a move had a unique name he would get it wrong for example jiggly puffs "roly-poly move" correctly known as rollout, also Ganondorf's final smash were he turns into a "pig" is known as Dark Beast Ganon
It was amusing the random words he came up with to describe moves instead of looking up their names.
In addition to being a command grab, Bowser’s Side B used to kill the opponent first before the user if you got yeeted off stage up until they patched it early on in Smash WiiU. Interestingly enough though it was still in the WiiU version at launch and remained for a little while.
5:18 you can, after picking Samus press grab while entering the fight, and you'll be zss

Well, it makes a lot of sense for Brawl’s final smashes to be large areas, as it was designed to be played in free for alls (for casuals). I prefer the new one-on-one final smashes but DK’s bongos were based off his games, unlike the punch
...y’know its from jungle beat right?
the new final smash was inspired by the same game that inspired bongos
yeah its from jungle beat, you know, the one that used the bongos as a controller? You would expose a bosses weak point and then you would just go ham on them with them hands
@@mithreal1291 I have had this comment quite a lot, but the fact that I have played on Nintendo consoles since the Wii, and have played Smash for 100s of hours kinda ruins the point. The bongos are very recognisable even to people who don't play Donkey Kong games, so I think my point still stands.
@@tomc968 It doesn't. Your point was that his Punch isn't based off his games, not how recognizable or non-DK Game Player Friendly it is. The comments rebuked that point.
Wow, your doing EVERY character?! That’s nuts!
But I did noticed that you missed a few changes about Samus. I’ll just tell them for you.
-In Smash 64, Samus’ Down Tilt was a leg sweep attack, but in Melee, it was changed to the Arm Cannon blast into the ground that it is today.
-In Melee to Brawl, Samus could shoot 2 Super Missiles at a time before exploding, but in Smash 4 onwards, they changed it to where you could only shoot one at a time before exploding.
-In Melee through Smash 4, Samus’ Up Throw was a electric, multi-hitting attack from the Grapple Beam, but in Smash Ultimate, it was changed to a large explosion from her arm cannon that does strong knockback.
In Smash 64 through Brawl, her F-Smash just had her thrusting her Arm Cannon Forward, but in Smash 4, it was changed to have a Fiery Blast in front of her Arm Cannon.
And, that’s all! Did I miss anything? Let me know Down in the comments!
also zss's very existence

Excellent video! I respect the huge amount of research and gameplay that had to be done for this!
You put so much effort in the video, thank you!
Idk if anyone prefers the current era of final smashes. The final smashes that were more interactive were way more fun. Like I remember thinking ZSS was trash so we’d always let the person playing samus get the final smash if we wanted to force them to become ZSS. The final smashes in Smash 4 and Ultimate are less fun because they don’t have any effects other than being a strong move (for the most part. Ik that peach’s final smash is the same since brawl for example) I really liked the transformation final smashes like Wario’s and Bowser’s. I didn’t really play Smash 4 since I was in between being a kid playing party games with my friends and now being a teenager reintroduced to smash with a greater interest in competitive. But I guess I didn’t really get Smash 4 as my intermediate between this transformation in final smashes. Btw Poppt, you should definitely do an analysis on the balancing of final smashes. There’s a lot to talk about.
I think they made the right call from a balance standpoint, but god, the old FS were so fun.
i can still remember how one would brag to their friends about beating someone in their transformation, lol
Ironic, considering Samus was trash in Brawl and ZSS was great.
I prefer the newer Final Smashes tbh. Too much time was spent in Brawl dealing with my friend's Sonic and hearing "NOW I'LL SHOW YOU" for me to get upset about losing "long" Final Smashes.
@@lthc_hiryu I use to play the heck out of Sonic in Brawl and my friends also started to really hate that sound.
Remember when characters used to have cool final smashes in brawl
I think you mean bad final smashes. (Except for the star fox cast, landmaster was busted)
Yeah...but I mean...they still do
Dk says otherwise
What about fire breathing yoshi? Or king dedede raising an army of waddle dees and doos? The star fox characters having a landmaster? Luigi’s weird inverted colors ability? It was weird but it was cool. And let’s not forget bowser becoming chad mid match. Samus also had a cool final smash that gave you a different character. Now if we look in ultimate, almost every character just has a five second cutscene targeting one person which I feel is very boring compared to brawl.
Yeah i hate that in ultimate every fs is a cutscene
Good shit man, really appreciate all the editing. Definitely want to see the rest of the characters
This was really fun to watch, definitely make the next part!
