- In this video i show you way on how to make a drinking horn from a cow horn. For this process i only use a Victorinox Swiss Army Knife as only tool. I don't use any Power tools. So anyone can do this project somewhere in the nature.

Just a clarification- Felix is using edible linseed oil here (also known as flaxseed oil). “Boiled linseed oil,” which is used mostly for furniture finishes, contains solvents and drying agents that are not food-safe (nor drink-safe). So you can’t use “boiled linseed oil” on anything that will be in contact with food or drink.
Good to know!
Super important. Cause I used the non-food safe stuff on furniture and flower beds and it occurred to me it must be a different type BUT people will make asinine assumptions.
This should be pinned
I'm pretty happy that Felix is on our side because if he wanted he could've taken down the whe world with just his Swiss army knife
Thanks for your comment!
Yes. We thank God and everything that he is on our side. His friendliness is only matched by his dangerousness.
(And probably the slingshot guy too.)
Peace, joy, positive waves.
@@vapormissile Thank you!
Felix is the Chuck Norris of bushcraft!
His Swiss Army knife Carries a Swiss Army knife.
Ants! Who would have thought about ants but you? Brilliant ideas again Félix!
Thanks a lot for your kind comment!
Wie immer, Du bist der Beste.
Danke Michael!
This was an excellent project. Time consuming, but the results were well worth it. The ants are amazing when it comes to cleaning bones and horn. Friday's with Felix, a great way to top off the week. Thank you for sharing your passion. Bravo.
Hey Felix! You could have skipped that rum step, and saved the rum to drink. Most denture tablets are anti-microbial. You disinfected the horn when you used that tablet to clean it. Those tablets are also great for cleaning stains from coffee/tea pots and cups. As a dentist, I have been using these tablets for years to clean my stovetop Moka pot with no scrubbing. Thanks Felix!!
U actuall dont use Rum or strong spirits to kill bacteria if you have used dentaltabs its more to get rid of the last foul taste that can be present just after cleaning.
Good coffee pots make better coffee seasoned. It’ll taste better if instead of cleaning like that you just rinse with hot water.
thanks for the tips!
Great video Felix! I always enjoy your videos, really fun and no BS. The horn loks cool, now I want to make one 😊
You were missed, but I'm so pleased you're back and that Viking Drinking Horn is definitely a wonderful task I'm going to do once I'm out of hospital. My daughter got a really decent-drinking sized horn off Etsy recently, so what you showed looks like a really good challenge. This project is very impressive, so many thanks Felix. Many good blessings and *hugs* ~Wendi 🌻
"Dis ees mine horn, I like it!" Ya gotta love our Felix!
I love how you kept it simple 😊
Awesome project! I am mostly impressed by the way you let the ants work for you. Reminds me of the story in which Daedalus (from the Greek myth) used an ant to thread a conch shell.
Beautiful job and wonderful project, my friend! I really like it!
You never cease to amaze me with your ingenuity and craftsmanship! Thanks again for another amazing project video!
Thank you Felix for personally showing me how to polish my horn 😁
Haa ha haa , das tönt ziemlich homoerotisch 😂😂
Wow! That’s really amazing. You did a fantastic job .
The more Rum you drink out of it the better it works. Walnut oil and mineral oil will work too. But good rum removes it too. The outside will shine if you use Neatsfoot oil. I polished the outside with buffing compound to maintain the natural look of the horn. I cut the tip off and added an oak wood stand to the bottom. The next project is making a horn from a horn.😅🤣😂 Beautiful looking project. 🙂
Very cool and ingenious in using the ants to clean the horn !
Thank you Jack!
I've wanted to make one of these but I never knew how to do it. Very cool video.
Vielen Dank mein Freund! 👍
Cool... das freut mich zu hören!
Love the ant workforce cleaning the inside for you. That is inspired.
Thank you Marc!
The key was the Swiss Army Ants. 😉
That looks like a fun project.
Love it... remember to put the shavings in your garden for slow nitro. 👍
Thanks for this tip!
The Townsends channel cover horn uses in a series of videos. They’ll use open flame or boil them in oil to shape them into whatever.
Felix, Thomas Gast, and Mr. Vogel should do th next 7vs. Wild Season.
Thanks for this compliment!
What a beautiful project! Well done Felix.
Another great project. Thanks Felix.
Thank you very much!
Glad you liked it, and it turned out well. I would never put oil in it, not any kind though :-)
My oldest that is still in my posession is from the early 90s, and it's still the best hor I have.
Another great video Felix.that turned out to be a beautiful Viking horn flask. Thank you for explaining all the steps. A great tutorial. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge with us.
Another great video thanks Felix
nice project, thank you
Thanks for watching!
Very cool. Thank you
Thanks a lot for your comment!
What a awesome project! I'm going to have to try this. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for this awesome video! Boiled linseed oil from the hardware store would work great for polishing the outside of the horn.
Danke lieber Willi!
What a fantastic project! I love this and I plan to make it with my daughter. Thank you, Felix! Ciao!
Yes a great video from start to finish all you need to process the horn , with some super tips,
Vielen Dank Christine!
Just shown this to my son and it looks like a project for us!
Another great project video Felix! Thanks for sharing! It looks great!
Love this video. gotta try this some time. step one is find a horn
LG Micha
Danke Micha!!
Beautiful, thanks, looking forward to the next video.
I never thought i would say i watched a man polish his horn for twenty minutes 😂 great video
😂😂😂😂😂
Beautiful work Felix. Thanks for showing us and take care.
So very clever!
Thanks a lot Debi!
Gute Idee 👍
Another excellent, informative, and instructive video. Felix, you are the man! Chow.
This really tickles my inner viking.
😂 😂
Thank you for another neat video felix
Thanks a lot Ryan!
Impressive 👍👍
I love you Felix. You're so cool.
From South Africa.
Thank you!
I wanted to comment earlier, but I didn't want to give away my idea, haha, any way I have sourced my own cow horn 📯 and the project begins! I will probably use it in some up and coming videos, and of course it will be great,,, thanks to you for the inspiration! 🤪
If you don't mind the horn being slightly bleached you can also boil it in lye water
Thanks for your tip!
Hey Felix,
Great video and great project Felix. Thank you for sharing it with us.
JT
Good project Felix , turned out well , thanks for sharing , God bless !
Very cool 👍🏻
Thanks a lot!
Great project and very clear video. The two surprising parts for me were using the ants and the denture cleaning tablets, but they sure seemed to work. Thank you for this video. Be well and at peace.
Your drinking horn looked great!
Thank you!
Great job, Felix - and I guess you invented the true and only Swiss Viking tea horn ... 😁
Or maybe the Vikings used already to drink tea? Who knows ... I'm just imagining that on their way to America some lost Vikings took the wrong way and accidentially reached India. Must have been in early Viking days, otherwise these guys would have maybe even brought coffee from India which was only later introduced there by Baba Budan who smuggled 7 raw beans from Mocha, as some say.
Joking, of course. Linseed oil is absolutely fine, and in case it vanishes over the time you can always apply a new layer. And if you carve a nice lid from some wood and embed the horn into a piece of sheepskin, fur inside, you have even a perfect thermos bottle!
Best regards, Robert
great project as always!
Wow! Very cool project. After watching this video I have a craving for some mead.
😂😂😂
Entretenido, excelente. Saludos🇲🇽
Felix, you are the best. Your videos are so relaxing
Hallo Felix,
Chris
Danke für die Idee. LG Felix
Beau résultat. Bravo
Merci bien!
Hi Felix! If something may be done, out in nature, I know you will show us how. Excellent video, sir!
Thank you Terry!
Well done!
Excellent stuff Felix 👍
Thank you very much!
Great videos !!!
Super project!
Thanks a lot!
I really like your process. Just an FYI, hydrogen peroxide has zero environmental effects. Matter of fact, it is used on plants to reinvigorate them, either sprayed on directly or mixed in to water. As for lining the inside, if you're wanting to keep it natural, as the Norse did is to use beeswax. Heat it up, pour it in, roll it around, and empty the leftovers. But your process may be better for hot temperature liquids such as your hot tea.
Neat!
Thank you very much for your interesting feedback!!
Good job, Felix!
Hallo Felix, tolle Sache. Pech Piering). Viele Grüße. Alex
Hallo Alex. Danke für den Tipp!
Very nice looks great 👍
I really enjoyed watching you make your drinking horn! Great job.
Thanks a lot Ronald!
Sehr geil gemacht lieber Felix!!! Tolle Arbeit :)
Alles Liebe, Vanessa
Hallo Vanessa.
Alles Liebe, Vanessa
Now that was s pretty cool idea ! Nice job on video!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🪓🔪👍👍
Hi Felix 😊 that was differant to your usual working whith wood, but it wa very interesting, and the ants did a good job cleaning it out, still not sure I'd want to drink out of it though ,lol. Chow, my friend, stay safe, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart UK
Thanks a lot Stuart!!
Great job Felix. I really like the horn brother. It's awesome to see you my friend. You are my favorite UA-cam channel.
Thanks for the vod Felix. Great to have you back. Maybe I should try this with my other Kudu horn 😂.
Hi Felix, once again i enjoyed that very much. Cheers Will.🍺😊
Thanks your works
Thanks for watching!
Man...this is crazy... 👍😉
Thanks for your support!
You had better luck with the ants than I . Tried to use ants to help strip a whitetail skull for a European mount . Finally had to go a different route. My father attached a mouthpiece to a horn to call his hounds back in . Cool fountain in the background. Nice project. Have a great evening
Muy interesante Feliz, ya extrañaba tu vídeo. Saludos
Gracias Pablo!!
I absolutly love everything you share
Thank you so much for your compliment!
Danke fürs zeigen.
Mit den allerbesten Wünschen für Dich und Deine Familie
LG Ralf
Great!
Thank you very much for your new video.
Please add Czech subtitles! 😉
Great video, Felix. I'm going to start looking around for a horn now. 😄
Yes...go for it!
Great Video. Love it. Will test it with the 5 Liter watussi raw Horn i habe left at home 😉
But pls dont use the Horn for Hot drinks. This will work for a period of time, but then the Horn will break.
I sell drinking Horns on medieval markets and sometimes people ask me why there Horns Are breaking, and after asking, all of them Tell me that they used it for hot Drinks.
Wauu, sorprendente👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thanks a lot!
