The Kids in the Hall is a Canadian sketch comedy group formed in 1984, consisting of comedians Dave Foley, Kevin McDonald, Bruce McCulloch, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson.

As a middle-class Ontarian WASP brought up around somewhat unadventurous people, I see so much of my mother and others' mothers in this character.
Scott Thompson could always nail that bland character so well.
I always pictured WASPs as rich, east coast American old money types. Though I suppose by strict definition you don't actually have to be rich, I think that is one of the requirements.

Nothing in that acronym mentions economic status.
Fran is one of my favorite characters on KITH.
I don’t think they even sold garlic in Ridgeway, Ontario, until 1989.
It's the little touches. This is great comedy. Scott Thompson can inhabit any character and be that person. He only needs his tremendous talent, and his love of people. He is a giant in comedy.
Scott really is the best actor of the 5. The way he naturally navigates around the applause has really caught my attention in my recent rewatch of the show.
He was very versatile. Dumb redneck to sop gay nightlife@@iloveyourunclebob
I love Scott's matronly Ontario housewife character! Also, love the voice Bruce uses as her husband.
Prince Andrew and Fergie on the fridge, her being a staunch royalist is a funny bit of unmentioned world building in these skits.
"In the beginning there was Miracle Whip".
Another Kids masterpiece.
I'm 66 and this is the Ontario in which I lived.
Almost too funny.
I remember overhearing an argument of my parents and my dad exclaiming "But I don't want to shove the television up my ass."
Fran and Gordon nail it everytime.
The Salty Ham sketch is a staple among my friends.
The Fran and Gordon sketches were so darn good and Scott is one magical performer. It is a bit surprising what they were able to do in terms of content 20+ years ago. Edgy and insightful at the same time. What a great ensemble. Truly missed.
Canadian comedians some of the best in the world!!!!
Scott Thompson never ceases to crack me up! His Buddy Cole skits are my favorite.
0:58 “Oh, I’d like to stay and fight, but the game is on!”
I love the camera inside the fridge view.
Me too. 👍
Might be the first refrigerator POV shot in film history. Definitely the first with a monologue.
I am so in love with Scott Thompson he is genius
They are fantastic characters. They never made fun, they portrayed real people. Talent. Scott we love you.
Ngl, a mango guava seltzer sounds good right now
I love Scott in this character!!!
Only Canadians will get the President's Choice reference
I'm from Detroit and was into the CBC - I understand President's Choice! In some places in Detroit some stores had PC on the shelf. Detroit = north Windsor? lol!
Guilty. I had to look it up.
"It's a goddamn bennie!" Interesting how Gordon recognized it right away...
Gordon's been around the block, man. Gordon's lived.
I love how the audience laughs and he interrupts and goes "Yeah!" and continues.
Scott Thompson is a genius
Nah-chos
It's fuckin strange to see a woman playing a woman on KITH.
It’s a god-damn Benny!
I refer to Benadryl as Benny sometimes.
Benny is slang for a tablet of an amphetamine. Benny’s were tablets of speed. Nick name for Benzedrine.
Scott Thompson is comedic GOLD
“….. or a Korean and Filipino”?
Well I’m actually 1/2 of each ethnically so Fran has no excuse if she ever met me. Haha I love the Gordon, Fran, and Brian skits so much. Kids in the Hall forever!
Wait a minute, I thought milk came in bags in Canada.
+SpiritBear12 It certainly can. Used to come in jugs, too. I still opt for the carton.
Stevo935
Me too, I hate the plastic jugs. They impart a weird flavor to the milk, where paper cartons or glass bottles don't. But in the states, milk is not sold in bags, unless it's for milk dispensing machines in restaurants.
@@SpiritBear12 out west in the states if ya buy it local itll still come in bottles haha
It’s spelled begs.
Wow you had Paprika? You must have lived near an Itallian.

oh, I'd like to stay and leave a comment but the games on
Great skit!
funny how nowadays fusion food is a common thing, KITH prophesized it!
Not really, because it was already happening when this skit was created! That's why the Kids created this skit. Food exploded by the late 80s especially, as in many different choices and creations never seen or accessible than before.
Oh, darn. I really expected the parents would take the "meal in a pill" and it would go from there.
Just made some spicy peanut sauce. It was pretty good.
Soup in a bag, Fran?! Soup in a bag?!
Well, you don't bring back bowls!
I bet you put cheese in your coffee
The image of the Queen on the fridge looks to be that of the Scott Thompson version of Elizabeth II. "Heh-leeeeeeoooo!"

Food in a pill 😆
I knew this day was coming!
@@rellman85 🤣
And they call it “progress”.

I love how Nielson's 'homo' milk still uses the exact same package today
Who borrows a cup of salsa?
Never mind, I’ll see if the Van Keegan’s have any.

What happened to salty ham?
Not goddamn..VOODOO PORK!
It was dropped in the ocean on the way home
What did you do, stuff it with SALT?!

@@bencousins7311 I'm referring to another KITH skit...
Very funny. :-)
That’s a GD bennie! Lolz 😂
The spicy dip
Zesty Mordant chips!
They used to call benzo’s bennys, the more you know!
wait, salt and vinegar chips arent based?
"Based on what, Dear?" -Fran
@@FamiliarFacesChannel lol
Based on traditional English pub food, I’d say.
Still reflective of Midwest cuisine. Is the Midwest perhaps more Canada than Canada now?
The Midwest voted for Donald Trump, while Canada voted for Justin Trudeau, so I'm going to say...no.
The Midwest has either not changed since 1985, or regressed further. Whereas Canada is progressing, advancing, evolving.
@@John_McDonnell Yeah, ll take the midwest. And naturally, it's changed quite a lot since 85, so you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. And I suppose we all have our own opinions of what "progress" is.....😏
@@funkmike Oh yeah, Trudeau...the blackface guy!! Yeah!...🤣🤣🤣smh. Leftist hypocrites. 😏
Since Daddy Trumpy got impeached you gonna cry, baby?
Growing up in the southern United States I never heard homogenized milk referred to as h0m0 til this skit.
Jordan Peterson stole your voice.
Clean your room!
Kermit had it first 😁
Middle class WASP Ontario culture. RIP
Great skit!
