Thanks for such an insightful video Kajol!! This has made me so much more excited and less nervous about moving into consulting at a Big 4! Completely agree with so many of your points and VERY EXCITED to no longer have to ask permission for my holidays ahah
Super helpful video as always, thanks Kajol! The fact your Big 4 induction was in the Cotswolds and mine was in my childhood bedroom HAHA another win for 2020 grads 😅
I agree with lots of the points in this video! Some additional cons that I think were left out: 1. Defined career growth and timelines ultimately hurt high performers as they are forced to wait for "their turn." Having 2-3 year periods as requirements for promotion, rather than simply impact/merit, incentivizes coasting. 2. Different pay for same levels. Almost all big4 firms (except one which does cohort) pay more for experienced hires, which hurts homegrown talent as they will be paid below market value over time. This causes high levels of attrition and turnover. Even top performers can switch firms for a sizable pay bump. MBB has standard pay scales for levels. 3. Emphasis on utilization which incentives billing hours rather than generating impact and value. Partners are looking for long term contracts that can renew itself. Not exactly inspiring for consultants looking provide value. Also makes it hard for people to take PTO. These are probably cons with professional services in general, but are highlighted by big4 due to how large and bureaucratic these firms are.
Thanks so much for making this video! I’ve recently received a graduate offer as a Consultant for EY here in New Zealand and super excited but also nervous. Now have a much better insight about what to expect! Thanks 🙏
Hey, I'm really interested in working at a big 4 firm in London. I know it sounds stupid but I've heard that the salary for a graduate at one the big 4 firms is typically £28-30k and this doesn't sound like enough to live in central London? 👍
Hey Kajol, thanks for this video it was very helpful ! I have a question, I am currently doing my last year of master degree in accounting and audit in France and I was wondering if I could apply for a graduate program in the UK? Do you know if they accept foreign graduates ? Thank you in advance :)
You just need to show some sort of commercial awareness about business news and passion to learn :) there were some tests on how you solve problems problems

A very informative video. Great job, Kajol !
Amazing video Kajol, really insightful and informative! I was just wondering if you mentioned what city you were based in?
Thank you for this video Kajol, very insightful! Do you have any tips for the assessment centre?
Excellent video and very informative!
Thank you!! 😊
Thank you, Kajol. Another great video. Maybe you can make a video about a comparison between KPMG, EY, pwc and Deloitte.
I've been wanting to do this for a long long time, still trying to get all the data hehehe
@@KajolPhadnis have you thought about including IBM consulting too?
Love the video! Could you do a similar video on MBB?
Honestly, I don't think I can because I never went through the MBB graduate scheme. Sorry Hamza!

For consulting you definitely start higher than that, in accounting / audit it's around what you mentioned I believe.
I'd love a video on consulting vs law vs banking. Thank you!
Do consultants or accountants have a better work life balance in the big 4?
Love your videos , wish me luck 😅❤️
Thanks so much Salma!! You got this!
you sound like you really enjoyed your grad scheme!
Are the Big 4 different from MBB?
I love your accent ❤

@@KajolPhadnis thank you for your fast response 😊 do you have any advice for the application ? Are there certain qualities that I should highlight ?
1:50 okay girl, you knew nothing about business, would you elaborate how you got chosen?
You just need to show some sort of commercial awareness about business news and passion to learn :) there were some tests on how you solve problems problems
