Within the first 20 minutes of an Alien Isolation video, the chat between Aoife and Johnny descends into whether you can wank in the sleep pods and Taylor Swift references. This is why I love watching videos of you both together on the Let's Plays and other videos.
Michael Patterson I thought that was both inappropriate when in the company of a lady and immersion breaking for those watching. I gave up at this point. I won’t watch this wanker Johnny again.
@@____uncompetative Your sense of humor apparently doesn’t exist, and apparently you’ve not watched many Eurogamer videos. You should. They’re well worth it! 😂 Hope that you’re getting by okay. You’ve missed out on A LOT of good stuff if you haven’t kept up. Throughout all affiliated channels. Good luck.
@Nogahabara No. I am not getting by okay. I died from COVID-19 a year ago. You do realise that you are replying to a comment that I made 5 years ago???
@@____uncompetative Shame, sorry for your death. And here you are! You do realize that the internet is forever, right? Your comment was fair game. You should watch more good quality videos put out by good people; you’d be a lot better for it!
As someone who would put myself in the same camp as Johnny when it comes to horror games, I'm glad I can watch someone else play this! Looks like such a great game, but I entirely lack the nerve to play it.
This Let's Play is incomplete. To truly appreciate the game you need to have your first proper Alien encounter. Which is in the next stage, the hospital level. The people demand more.
This was hilarious to watch. As an avid alien fan and a HUGE fan of this game, I LOVE watching how it affects different people. I also find it funny how much Aoife and Johnny were referencing Taylor Swift given how Aoife looks A LOT like her (maybe I'm missing the joke) 😂
Johnny I can’t believe you never played this. Such a fantastic game and probably one of my favourites. Please do a full play through or at least a couple more videos.
I know this video came out in 2017, but I couldn’t help commenting that this is probably the most quotable late to the party ever: “Fuck you door, I don’t need your attitude.” “Where does Kane go to get his spacesuit, THE HURT LOCKER.” “Well hot damn! What a great joke Johnny.” “She’ll probably... Shake it off.”
I love how this game can gain access to your microphone's sound input and use it to give away your position to the alien. It's pretty unforgiving, even in the easy difficulty.
I vaguely remember I once made a lot of progress in one sitting but just as I was saving my game, the Xenomorph was just behind me, so once the game had finished saving I was immediately killed
*ugh* Ironically, I: a) also love horror movies/books/games, but b) have about the same temperament with (great) horror games as does Johnny, and c) this is *exactly* where I've left off in every single one of my half-dozen attempts at this (amazing, wonderful) game. /fuckthatnoise Anyway, as always - love you two, thanks for the ninety minutes of fun!
I managed to get the the first part of the medical ward, got the code, but keep getting killed before I even get the keycard. Playing it on hard mode and I think I need to stay close enough to the alien to allow it to open doors so it doesn't hear them being opened. Love Johnny's response, "you know what's a fun game? Spelunky."
The head tracking feature in this was amazing! Thought it was pointless at first, but then you remember to use it a couple times and suddenly you're doing it instinctively. It was like a budget VR.
I applaud you extensively, Johnny, for playing this. From your Low Batteries series to your TedX speech, I know you have crippling anxiety (as do I) and know this must have an absolute nightmare to play and I laud you for doing so. My mum bought me this game when it came out and I still haven’t struck up the nerve to play it yet, so thank you for encouraging me to at least try it!
Play it in bits, maybe two days a week, and hour or two a day, break up the sessions with something light, like Dragon Age or Spelunky, something comfortable to ease the stress and anxiety.
7 minutes in and we've had two obscure Simpsons / Futurama references and a conversation about the logistics of masturbating in a hypersleep tube. I love you guys.
1:13:15 In the immortal words of Kyle Taylor: Rooster Teeth employee (when he played this game along with his ever fearless companion/fellow colleague Miles Luna)... "That was not the dildo I ordered! That is far too long!"
With this game part of my expected to hear the 'Sega!' sound as the game loads up, but with a difference where you hear 'Se-" then horrible, horrifying screams as the person saying it is killed by the xenomorph. Really scary game, I really should try to find the time to play the game more.
The genius of this game is that (for example) the xenomorph is actually two AI brains in one. One knows where you are and the other doesn’t, or something like that. Anyway, somehow this means it’s both menacing without being over-powered. This game shit me up a treat.
Watching you guys play this actually made me go and purchase this game again from the ps store. I'm going to actually going to finish it this time around though.
Heh, I had some apprehension for playing this game, but I did beat it a little over 2 years ago. Second highest difficulty. However, I then bought the DLC on a Steam sale, but I haven't played those. It's a brilliant game and genuinely scary.
I'm usually the same as Johnny with horror games. Movies never made me jump (apart from cheap jump scares) but video games are a different story. This game *is* scary and brilliant but after a while I felt more like Ripely, when the initial fear wore off I just wanted to kill the bastard!
I really thought they would have made another one of these games, It's one of my favourite horror games. Tho I do wonder how they would add on top of what was already great.
I played this Just before Halloween for the 1st time & it took over 3 hours for me to meat the Xenomorph...I can watch someone else play a horror game...but I am shit
Pretty much. I went into the game totally blind & had no idea you were safe for as long as you were. Plus I spent at least 15 mins dicking about with the shower near the start.
Excellent torture session, I enjoy it every time you guys suffer something horror-themed. And yet, even watching this game has stressed me the fuck out.
6:48 That one took me a couple seconds. Also, Aoife, I guarantee that the vast majority of people will not have the problem of hitting the top of the pod cover, no matter what their genital configuration. I side with Johnny on this one. It might be risky if someone gets up in the middle of the night for a drink or something, but it's perfectly feasible.
Scottish Phil Collins; the guy who wrote that song about a guy, watching a guy, watching another guy getting killed by a Xenomorph whilst cowering in a locker. #OutofThisWorld
I don't know why this has never occurred to me before, but now that I've noticed it, I am very curious: is there ever an in-game reference to why there is so much spray-paint, in so many colors, available on the space station? That happens in a lot of space-horror games (all the way back to the poor spellers in the military team at Black Mesa threatening poor Gordon), and now that I've noticed it I can't stop wondering about why everyone in space/sci-fi/futurist settings has ready access to a Krylon store (or space-equivalent). Help!
Paint used to color code what repairs need to be done in certain areas. Maybe orange for construction, blue for water systems, red for electrical, et al.
Androids only made sense in the first movie, where they were secret. Once they were publicly known and available to all, there's NO REASON to send anyone BUT androids into space. Androids wouldn't need life support, or suspended animation. Best of all, Weyland Yutani could send a ship of just androids to collect the xenomorphs. No living people would be in danger, less chance of bad press and if the androids were made just for the mission, they would be objectively expendable.
"He looks like a perfect candidate for a bishop or an ash" I mean, excellent shout, Johnny, he IS, though the game basically makes the assumption that you already know he's an android lol, Amanda never remarks on it when its stated outright on screen that he's an android, implying it was known beforehand, and he's casual about it himself, stating things like how he doesn't need as much sleep as the other crewmates during the intro sequences, on account of, well, the way that he is lol
I didn't think I could play horror games but I found Isolation to be tense not scary. I've deduced its a fear of ghosts and homicidal old ladies. I'm OK with 8 foot lizards.
If Johnny weren't married, Aoife's "Some people don't see things when they're right there in front of them...and slightly to the side" would be ripe for shipping

Johnny must have gone to the Andy Farrant school of fear-singing
Aoife facilitating Johnny's awful Hurt Locker joke is why you're such a good pairing for Late to the Party.
As someone who would put myself in the same camp as Johnny when it comes to horror games, I'm glad I can watch someone else play this! Looks like such a great game, but I entirely lack the nerve to play it.

You feeling chuffed now that there’s a eurogamer let’s play of this?
Johnny's face when Aoife says, "It's terrifying." Brilliant. Now perhaps Johnny can turn the tables and get Aoife to do a playthrough of ECHO?
Hearing the save terminal beeps reminds me how much of a godsend they were when I was first playing this game.
Walks over one body by accident. Goes back and walks over ALL THE BODIES on purpose.

It could be special nano paint that's meant for repairing microfissures in the hull.. Yea, that sounds kind of plausible.
Paint used to color code what repairs need to be done in certain areas. Maybe orange for construction, blue for water systems, red for electrical, et al.
This game takes a LOT longer to get to the xenomorph than I expected.
You get a brief respite after the first full encounter, after that, it's all bets are off.
