Removal and Installation of Speedometer Cluster from 1989 Mercedes 560SL for Repair. All Mercedes W126 from 1978-1991 280SEL,300SEL, 350SD, 380SE, 420SEL, 500SEL, 560SEL, Mercedes W124 400E, E420, 500E and E500 from 1988-1995 and all Mercedes W107 380SL and 500SL from 1981-1985 and all Mercedes 500SL and 560SLs from 1986-1989
You could use a cloths hanger and bend the end like a hook.

How do you remove the light switch surround trim?

I was thinking the same thing, I know Harbor Freight sells a hook set for $1.00, and you would need to buy two, My only concern is the diameter might be too large and/or the hook might be too long and need to be cut off.
Re. how to remove instrument panel on 560SL, is there an alternate device to remove the cluster panel instead of bkuying the special tools?

Couldn't you use a suction cup (e.g., from a GPS window mounting kit) to remove the instrument panel instead of buying special tools?
dont forget to disconnect the battery, not a big deal, but otherwise the airbag might blow haha

Your headlight switch is in upside-down
steering screw can be heated with small torch, or soldering iron, then loctite goes back to fluid
You should not do that. There is a plastic plate behind the steering wheel which would warp due to heat and cause issues such as making noise when turning steering wheel. NOT RECOMMENDED!

after repair, my high beam lights do not come on. did i miss plugging something in?
You need to remove the cluster again and check the light bulb for high beam. It is most likely loose and does not make a good contact.

The clusters are different but removal is almost the same.
On the site, I could not see a repair for the instrument cluster nor the cost thereof, for a MB. Please reply.
