I've thought about this a lot, and here's my ultimate castle design: Step 1. Make a big tower with a gatehouse attached Step 2. Put some shooty boys on top

Modders, please make catapult 10g cost with infinite ammo, they so underpowered, i`m bored to win every online match with laddermen and spearmen versus catapult and ballista armies.
How to make defenses imo. Step 1. Build tower around your defend Step 2. Dig the moat around your defenses Step 3. Put a gate behind your castle/in front of resource production Step 4. Dig outer moat to defend resource production Step 5. Put a front gate in outer moat Step 6. Put a gate between inner moat and outer moat Step 7. Put 2 towers side by side a gate between inner/outer moat. Step 8. Enjoy defending You will save stone to sell that's will make more profit than repair wall around your defenses, and don't put any production in front just keep around the back so they can't reach it. In front of your castle should have barrack, merc build, and engineer guild. And you should build these barrack behind tower so catapult will focus on your tower first if they come closely.
That's basically Nizar's castle lol yea you will save the stone but it means your buildings are more exposed to ballista/catapult fire which usually could have been blocked by those walls
@@hunorferencbalint4483 You should really only have to defend the Lionheart once or twice once he actually gets his castle set up. One of The Caliph should be focused on trying to kill you and the other Caliph's attacking army is going to be wiped out by Richard's opposing army almost every time. With the way that map is set up if your castle is reasonably sized both armies should not be able to reach Richard provided his troops try to go through your Castle first. On top of that you are so close to him that sending him reinforcements is pretty much a non issue.
@@mee091000 In my play through the Caliph spawned in the North sent his troops to the one in the South and from there, to Lionheart. Now, this might be because I closed the shallow in the North with moat in order to stop the constant Slave spam 😅
I was expecting some sort of cheesy defense tactic, abusing moats or something that breaks the AI, and instead got a shitpost with valid gameplay tips. 10/10
Now you just need stronghold crusader extreme unit spawners some defended so tone and catapults of your own preferably using glitches to be on the walls
l just leave a gap to my walls and focus all the ballistas to the gap and well the enemy is defeated much faster Edit: Also ai will rarely even use catapults that way too lol
Tbh I wouldn't say it's a dead game. Most *_true_* RTS games do not really have particularly long peak player lifespans and this is a 22+ year old game. There are exceptions like Startcraft _(ugh...)_ but they don't represent even 10% of RTS games. Playing the game online back when it was first released would have been an absolute nightmare too. Due to the limitations at the time and online gaming being a niche in and of itself. So you could actually argue that more people are actively playing the game now than ever. But player count aside there is still large active community for this game and with a surprising amount of content creators. It snuck its way a bit into meme culture as well. On top of that Firefly Studios is still active and has plans for Stronghold Crusader in the future. Yeah it's not as big as Civilization, Age Of Empires, and Total War. But the fact that it is still this active and well received even after 22 years is a testament to how great this game really is. Honestly Firefly Studios still being active is a testament to how great this game is as well. There are very few big RTS studios at the time that did not go bankrupt and no longer exist.

who needs gatehouse? attach it with your keep

Wanna have an impenetrable castle?
1- Place your keep
2- done
true the keep is impenetrable, although you can shoot it (since it's an object afterall)

Nizar's castle but with more siege engines then
LOL I love the ending. That sound when catapults hit people..
How to make an IMPENETRABLE STRONGHOLD
Catapult guy: hold my beer
Hold my ale)
Basically lionheart castle with extra walls
One of the richard ai basically builds this
He is quite penetrable though. I will never forget having to defend him the entire game when I first played the 2 Caliphs map

I definitely need to find someone, who loves me just as Jefflenious loves catapults!
Catapults are the only unit that truly needed a limit cap in Stronghold games and Stronghold Crusader is a prime example of why.
You know, I came here for hope but Thanos is often right.

end was brutal.
Requesting a gameplay against each AI lord using this setup, over!
catpulat : i'm here sir 👌😂😂
I normally just skip the wall part and go straight for a row of towers
I just thought about the catapults when you said impenetrable and there they were
it's a rout!
Add double layer of crenellations and a most to deal with assassins and tunnellers.
When catapults came in,i thought this desing will cut off those number of catapults
Jeff what is your favorite unit?
Crossbowmen!
Now you just need stronghold crusader extreme unit spawners some defended so tone and catapults of your own preferably using glitches to be on the walls
somehow I knew this was comming xD

Well, so much for that idea.
Catapult ready ma lord
How do you beat a pile of rocks, whit a pile of rocks thrown very hard at them
LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I laughed so hard a the end
CaTaPuLt ReAdY mY lOrD
If it said impenetrable defense but it shows you to make walls, then it penetrable 😂
Castle not strong.
More wood is needed.
Just the end of it😂😂😂😂😂😂
1000 like done by me
This was funny
Put cows, more cows
attack is the best defense
I see some sarcasm here. 😂
I need to ask is this a MEME !
Lul congrats u just got rolled 😂
comedy
Destroy it with trebuchet '-'
u can add water
lol
Amazing vid as always lol
Btw it's ballistae (balliste) not ballistas since it's a latin therm
Almost
why build stone walls when you can make walls of horse archers and catapults.
Also why is this tagged as age of empires Lol
Bro, it's not 1 april
LOL
lmao
Wow🙂
🤣 😊
I know it
Pro tip : you cant
Haha
was this a joke??
Wtf 😂😂😂
