Cliff, would you believe many of us tear up listening to her sing the same song "hundreds of times?" Cliff, what's also great is you are probably introducing Angelina to listeners who, otherwise, may not have had the opportunity to hear her sing. And, when they do, well, you understand what happens. She has no boundaries: Gender, age, color, religion, language, and preferred genre, it makes no difference. She connects to everyone and it's straight to each person's heart.
That's called the Angelina Effect. I don't know about others out there, but she definitely shifted my attitude in so many ways. There was a time a few years ago that I'd just spout out whatever crap was at the top of my head in these comment sections, but after becoming an angel of hers, I tend to read everything twice now, and always in the back of my head is the thought: "If Angelina were to somehow read this, would she be happy that I'm one of her fans?". I don't know if it is the band or tempo, or what. But something I always find amazing is how she can make the same song feel so different in different performances.

12!! This is the same concert as "It's a Man's World", just a quick change of dresses. But you're too late catching the male clarinetist enjoying himself: the very moment she hits the first note, he swings he's head backwards in a sharp movement, as if saying a loud "OMG!!!". And this is still just a crap recording made by a mobile phone. - Somebody call Marty and ask him to bring that DeLorean! We need to travel back in time and attend that concert!
Crazy thing is, this can all be cleaned up in a studio. With “it’s a man’s world” I thought the clarinet was much too “over the top.” Very comical though, that she matched his pitch, at times. Love it all! 🌺

As a former member of a jazz band I can imagine the clarinetist was smiling at the beginning because he just love playing this arrangement, but, to be honest, I think your explanation is closer to the truth.
Sir, the band is the royal army brass band of Norway. In January of that year, they presented her for her 12th birthday (after asking her parents) with an offer for a charity-CD and this concert in Oslo near the castle at the carp-pond. They rehearsed that together about half a year, honoring her wishes for arrangements. So they all feel like they adopted her into their orchestra and are VERY proud of her. Thats the reason for their smiling. On this day, it is said, the prime minister of Norway herself was in the audience. She, the prime minister, is a BIG fan of Norways national treasure (confirmed by a Norwegian). :-)))) stay save and healthy, German greetings. The CDs name is "its magic"

The song was made popular by Julie London in the 1950’s. Julie was gorgeous and sultry, and her classic version of Cry Me a River reflected that. Angelina has another performance of this with a small jazz band. It’s more like the Julie London original, but Angelina puts her stamp on it just beautifully. The version you just watched is more of a big band sound, but I really love the jazzier version. It’s much closer to the sultry, sophisticated lyrics of the Julie London version. UA-cam now seems to delete my comments that include a link. (I have no idea why because the links are to other UA-cam videos.) But if you want to hear her beautiful, smoky, jazzy version, look for Angelina’s Cry Me a River that’s posted by Boris Palenovsky. Haha, you do have funny streak. This a great «007-ish» arrangement, done for Angelina’s aptly titled «It’s a Miracle» record back when she was ten or so. Very cool, although I prefer the silky smooth jazzy version from a couple years later. Angelina is outstanding in both, so this is just a matter of taste. Also, this might bring some flack, but never mind: Angelina is now fifteen years old, and has grown up partly in Norway, where most teenagers curse like drunken sailors (at least if their grandparents are out of earshot), and partly in LA, which is the city of angels in name only. Now, I am not big on cursing, but the reason it’s a thing in all languages, is that it fills a purpose - in all languages. (Fun fact: That favourite four letter word originally stems from the old norse «á fokka», which means to strike - and is thus as Norwegian as Angelina herself.) Cursing is not «bad language» by definition. Ask any author...or linguist. In fact, it is linguistic spice. A little will often add to the flavour, too much will ruin the dish. I am actually looking forward to Angelina dropping a few F-bombs herself, just so her most ardent (or ancient?) fans will realise that she is both one of the most exceptional vocalists of our age and a down to earth teenage girl living in the world with the rest of us. It is absolutely wonderful that Angelina’s mini-me is still with us here on UA-cam, but that is not her anymore. I am sure Angelina of today want people to be their real and true selves around her and not treat her like the child she no longer is. That is not protecting her, but protecting an idolised image that no human can live up to. Nor should anyone have to.

This was a good performance from Angelina but it is definitely not her best rendition of this song. Sir, the band is the royal army brass band of Norway. In January of that year, they presented her for her 12th birthday (after asking her parents) with an offer for a charity-CD and this concert in Oslo near the castle at the carp-pond. They rehearsed that together about half a year, honoring her wishes for arrangements. So they all feel like they adopted her into their orchestra and are VERY proud of her. Thats the reason for their smiling. On this day, it is said, the prime minister of Norway herself was in the audience. She, the prime minister, is a BIG fan of Norways national treasure (confirmed by a Norwegian). :-)))) stay save and healthy, German greetings. The CDs name is "its magic"

Angelina was 12 years old in this performance. I recently put that into perspective when it dawned on me that, if she was living in the U.S., she would've been in the 6th grade! How many 6th graders can sing like this? Even NOW, at 15, she's still in high school and doing homework! Unbelievable!

The song was made popular by Julie London in the 1950’s. Julie was gorgeous and sultry, and her classic version of Cry Me a River reflected that. Angelina has another performance of this with a small jazz band. It’s more like the Julie London original, but Angelina puts her stamp on it just beautifully. The version you just watched is more of a big band sound, but I really love the jazzier version. It’s much closer to the sultry, sophisticated lyrics of the Julie London version. UA-cam now seems to delete my comments that include a link. (I have no idea why because the links are to other UA-cam videos.) But if you want to hear her beautiful, smoky, jazzy version, look for Angelina’s Cry Me a River that’s posted by Boris Palenovsky. It’s a live performance with a great jazz band behind her, and there’s a terrific trombone solo as a bonus.

Haha, you do have funny streak. This a great «007-ish» arrangement, done for Angelina’s aptly titled «It’s a Miracle» record back when she was ten or so. Very cool, although I prefer the silky smooth jazzy version from a couple years later. Angelina is outstanding in both, so this is just a matter of taste.
Also, this might bring some flack, but never mind: Angelina is now fifteen years old, and has grown up partly in Norway, where most teenagers curse like drunken sailors (at least if their grandparents are out of earshot), and partly in LA, which is the city of angels in name only. Now, I am not big on cursing, but the reason it’s a thing in all languages, is that it fills a purpose - in all languages. (Fun fact: That favourite four letter word originally stems from the old norse «á fokka», which means to strike - and is thus as Norwegian as Angelina herself.) Cursing is not «bad language» by definition. Ask any author...or linguist. In fact, it is linguistic spice. A little will often add to the flavour, too much will ruin the dish.
I am actually looking forward to Angelina dropping a few F-bombs herself, just so her most ardent (or ancient?) fans will realise that she is both one of the most exceptional vocalists of our age and a down to earth teenage girl living in the world with the rest of us. It is absolutely wonderful that Angelina’s mini-me is still with us here on UA-cam, but that is not her anymore. I am sure Angelina of today want people to be their real and true selves around her and not treat her like the child she no longer is. That is not protecting her, but protecting an idolised image that no human can live up to. Nor should anyone have to.

It snuck inbetween others ( but there are a lot of AJ reactions going on out there and it's hard to keep up) - But I knew I had missed one as in one AJ facebook Fan club "The Shield", where we share good reactions - this was uploaded and one fellow member commented, 1. how good it was and 2. that you mentioned trying to not curse (which of course I had mentioned in my previous comment) - So big thumbs up Cliff. This was a good performance from Angelina but it is definitely not her best rendition of this song. She did a much better, smooth Jazz version of this song in another outdoor concert, I believe that same year. Here is the link - ua-cam.com/video/jV8HIVL2VDE/v-deo.html. It is definitely worth a listen. It is a remarkable smooth, jazzy performance with a small jazz band backing her up.
That concert was the year before when she was 11. A fantastic version of the song. Can't be more Jazz than that. Her voice is just like an instrument, a trumpet or something.
