DEROBEMENT (LINE)

DEROBEMENT
evasion of the opponent’s attempt to beat or take the blade while the sword arm is straight and the point is threatening the target
Point in line with target using the pendulum to simulate opponent trying to beat or take your blade.
Using the foil in back hand bring in a tactical element, drawing your opponent in and then making a parry riposte direct & indirect.
Key points
◇You must establish line before opponent starts attack.
◇You can break distance (more than your opponents step lunge distance) then produce line to establish priority.
◇The point must stay in line with opponents target area or you will lost priority.
◇You can step forward and back with line and you can finish in a lunge.
◇ If you lunge and establish line in a lunge you will have to make sure your opponent does not take up the attack straight after your lunge or it will be their hit. Their would have to be a hesitation from your opponent taking up the attack for you to regain priority with line.
