its from an old belief dating back to Germanic tribes: that young women could heal or preserve their youth by drinking they're pee when they're adolescents
Giganto Maxia was definitely put on indefinite hiatus, so we aren't going to get any more of that, but there is a slight chance there might be more Duranki. I don't know if Miura wrote down a general storyline for it or not. It seems unlikely, he seems to write kind of like George R.R. Martin, where he'd just write more as he went along instead of writing a detailed outline first. I know he was the writer and storyboard artist on Duranki, Studio Gaga just drew the manga. So if he wrote an outline for another chapter, we might get that released eventually. I don't think they've released a Duranki tokabon yet, so if we get an extra chapter, it'll probably be there. It is of course entirely possible Miura doesn't have any notes or outlines for either Duranki or Berserk, and if that is the case then yeah, feels bad man.
I just read this one recently myself. I enjoyed it. The art was fantastic and the story was pretty interesting. Of course it was not Berserk, but was cool to see other ideas Miura had floating around, and I’m always happy to see artists experiment and spread their wings a bit. Such a tragic loss, still can’t get over it.
I used to daydream Miura would continue this one after he finished Berserk or at least revisit it with another volume or something, it was such fitting concept for Miura and his creativity, kinda like Fantasia but with a future touch as well, literally limitless possibilities. I'm still very grateful for the one volume we got.
I read the manga and felt the author was trying to tell a different perspective on dealing with the negative cycle of hatred. Guts in Berserk is a journey of immersing himself in hatrad and trying to control /tame the beast of hatred. Whereas, Delos tries to break this cycle of hatred by showing mercy to his opponents. However, one may not be able to become a pacifist unless one possesses overwhelming power and abilities so it is a bit idealistic but has common themes with Vinland saga.
I'm glad you're covering this one shot. It was the first piece of work I read from Miura-Sensei. The story has a cool premise and of course stellar art.
In just 7 chapters Miura created so much lore, history, worldbuilding, interesting concepts like what could happen in 100 million years to life in evolution and technology, a great theme (Delo's motivation and philosophy and how it made him fight non-fatally) interesting characters and enemies (the Octopi and Titan were really cool), Lots of mysteries and questions. Prome is some sort of technological goddess since her explanation about Gohra is very technical. Talking about Mohs scale materials and all that stuff. I checked; Diamond has hardness of 10 on Mohs scale, Gohras armor is 18 haha. Anyway i REALLY liked this.
Imagine Aot with apostles sieging a Wall city with MF Zodd flying pass scouts sending them flying with the force of his wings and his horns piercing the armour titian at high speeds or guts in his Beserk armor raging against the modern day troops of Marley deflecting machine guns bullets and clashing the Dragonslayer against the jaw titian
Part of me feels this is sorta pre-apocalyptic story too? In Greek mythology the gigantomachia (however you spell it) was right after the war against the titans iirc? With the war over, the gods had no use for giants anymore so they went and dealt with them. I can’t remember if they killed em straight up or not, but once it was over mankind could truly flourish
Based on Prome's description of the event, my guess is that the cause of the collapse is a ginormous comet ("..a *celestial* event, the *Super Plume* ") massive enough to have it's own gravity, which entered into orbit with Earth and caused tectonic movements to go haywire and triggered a wave of volcanic eruptions across continents. The plumes from the eruptions then caused a 2nd Ice Age to occur, collapsing entire biospheres and Prome's civilization in the process.
Great video Ryan! I had heard of this one-shot but not all that much, and I'm glad it turned out to be a pretty cool venture into somewhat new territory for Miura. Will have to see if the Barnes & Noble by me carries this. If not, will have to force them to order it!
Yep, I remember seeing this come out while I was waiting for the next chapter to come out....*sigh*.....ah the bug people and some girl peeing on you to heal you instead of a new chapter..... Yep, very painful at the time.... *sigh*
I know right? When Ryan showed a back to back comparison of Miura's titans versus Isayama's titans, it was almost embarrassing how much better Miura's were. It's not really fair. Miura is one of the best artists in manga and Isayama is one of the worst. No offense to Attack on Titan, but the artwork was never it's strong suit.
@@wackyswacky1374 I mean, AoT still looks vastly better than Dragonball Super's manga, even to this day. Giant Goku dealing the killing blow to Moro: 1/10 AoT titan shifters: 5/10 Miura titans: 11/10

I love Giganto Maxia. Short but sweet series. I wish it had an OVA, it'd be so cool.
Hell yeah that's a nice idea 👏
...aaand I just remembered how well the Berserk adaptations turned out... so maybe not? 😅
It's not pee, it's "nectar"
So it's technically socially okay
Yes
Pee actually helps alleviate pain from burns and hastens cicatrization as well as scar healing. It's not outlandish.

Something will always be badass about the phrase "Commence Giganomachia" when coupled along with the visuals of the panel.
Respect for pushing Miura's other stuff
I miss Miura so much, RIP
This manga just reminds me of another manga called nausicaa valley of wind
By Hayao Miyazaki
I just figure that Miura thought healing tears and spit(kisses) are over done and jump to next reliably produced bodily fluid he could think of.

An incredible little story that needs more praise. If there was an adaptation it would catch on like wild fire.

I’m all for Miura stepping away to work on this manga, refocus, and draw Rickert slapping the s*** out of Griffith’s stupid face.
I read this manga recently and it was awesome, it'd be cool to see it animated despite how short it is, the giant stuff is cool
