Couldn't of related more to what you said about most of us being like Corkus, man. As much as we all wanna be some crazy badass most of us go about our lives barely making a difference in the world. But that's whats so inspiring about Berserk, it makes you wanna strive to be better.
I maybe alone in this, but I pitty Ganeishka. His first near death was due to his own mother, and he lived a life of always having to watch his back even from his own family. So afraid for his life, always projecting fear onto others so that to hide his own. As someone who has often struggled wtih his own fears, I felt in some way I understood why he made the choices he did, and felt sad for him in the part where he felt life was nothing but darkness. He did a great many of vile things, but it is not like anyone in this series is wholly good or has done nothing sinful. He struggled against his own destiny, and the weight of his throne, and it lead him on a dark path. In fact, now that I think about it, alot of the Apostles are more like Guts than I think Guts realizes in a way. They too were human once, but where as Guts had managed to have a life preserver, they did not, and ended up drowning.
THIS OPINION WAS SO PONIENT ! IF GUTS STOPPED TO THINK ABOUT THEIR CIRCUMSTANCES OR LEARNED ONE OF THEIR STORIES HE'D BE MORE HURT. I love that Bezerk isn't like Naruto (no hate) where they try to make you sympathize for every antagonist. Its up to us to make sense of this cruel world we're thrust in. To me the count even though he ripped pippin apart he earned my respect because he loved his daughter so much he drew a line in the sand he would give anything but not his baby girl.
Reading the part with Charlotte’s father was really hard for me, I had to put down the book a lot. My dad never assaulted me but he was just as inappropriate. It was hard to see what could’ve happened
Judeu did win a very special place in Casca’s heart he fought to the very end saving her life. Casca knows that and he will forever be inmortal in her heart because of his actions in that hell that is the eclipse. Judeu earned that with his courage. I think Farnese would’ve been a better match for him he could’ve been really good for her.
@@DammnDeejay Miura is the creator of course, but Donovan is the G. Think about it, him raping guts when he was a child eventually led Guts to having sex with Casca. Now my headcannon is that Donovan is actually a God-like being that can see the future and saw that by raping Guts he would allow Guts to get with Casca. Donovan for real a real one respect for that hero.
The death of the child soldier who had the toy was like my No.1 The band of the Hawk reminds me of the childrens crusade of 1212..as even Griffith allowed children to join i think alot of them came from familys that were poor and children were viewed as property sold by their parents into slavery, sexual exploitation and had swords put in their hands as kids. Im thinking Muria prolly watched Lionheart from 1987 with Eric Stoltz. Anyone else seen this movie?
I have a theory the behelit Guts carries around is actually intended for Casca. When the Skull Knight said what he wants may not be the same casca wants, I think the meaning is, now that Casca is cured, Guts just wants some peace, while Casca will be gung ho willing to make Griffith pay for everything. She will end sacrificing Guts to get powerful to take Griffith down.
Adonis' death is one of the most frustrating things to discuss simply because it's been displayed 3 different ways. The manga makes it apparent that Adonis is in deep shadow as he opens the door and Guts doesn't register who it is until after the fatal stabbing. The 97 anime it shows Adonis fully lit in the doorway and Guts knows who it is before the stab even though it shows him clearly in instant regret when he sees the struggling child. The Golden Age movies go out of their way to change the positioning of the characters and the doorway so that Guts can hide along the wall beside the door and has absolutely no clue who he is attacking when he whips around to kill the person who was entering the room. The movie also changes it so that he is wielding a much more average size sword compared to his normal one. I suspect this was done to correct what would have been a pretty obvious error in planning for Griffith. Even though it's not cannon, this scene is certainly one that IMHO is an improvement over the original.
I always thought that Griffith twisted the Midland King. That he was actually just an overprotective father but through his interaction with Griffith and the mental trauma of finding out his daughter was deflowered really just messed with him. That's just my theory.
@@megashark1013 so you're just gonna gloss over Casca's r@pe at Femto/Griffith's hands? He absolutely did EVERYTHING wrong. There's no defending his actions.
Amazing, I'm so grateful for this list I couldn't describe it better myself, it seems like you're experiencing every death from its point of view the way you describe every one's make them at the top of its own category.. keep it up Ryan you deserve the attention even from Miura himself.
Everybody needs a Judeau in their life. I knew about the Eclipse before I read Berserk. That didn't prepare me for the band of the hawks death. Judeau was such a good person, it is just straight up cruel to kill him.
The scenario leading up to Gambino's death was really hard to watch. My heart broke for Guts when he felt betrayed by the man he really looked up to and was seeking validation from. And especially during that scene when he was choking out Casca, non stop tears.
The manga analysis is helping me so much dude. I appreciate you so fkn much. It's so crazy to think you have anxiety and depression because you look so professional and well put together. Much love
I love the rosine fight as it goes on they role swap. By the end rosine is viewing guts as the monster that just keeps coming. When he comes out the water at the end it's almost like Jason Voorhees coming out of the water and rosine is the teenager about to get chopped apart. Excellent writing
As abnormal as it is, Lost Children is the first part of Berserk that broke me. It has heavy themes of Loss of Innocence that I feel really relate to Guts and really hit home for me as well. The feeling of being a helpless child that wants to be anywhere but home. Both Jill and Rosine experience that in similar ways, and seeing both their experiences and what lead Rosine to sacrifice her parents and humanity to become an apostle made me tear up. I felt for her, even if she now was an evil child killing demon. But seeing that childlike innocence being broke by war and abuse was a hell of a gut punch that left me sobbing with my hand over my face while reading. And her death had the same effect.
Reading the last chapters, i can't help but wondering: Why is Casca reaching for her chest area while collapsing after seeing Guts? I already thought about it when Ryan explained how he was a bit clueless about the extent of Casca's trauma and her state of regression, as it seems just a little too extreme "realistically" and a lot of us feel that way i'm sure. So i was thinking about what was stated early on, that a branded person would simply just die by standing too close from a godhand member. But what about having one touch you, let alone enter you? From the start there was definitely something odd about the calmness of Casca during her rape. So my question is this: Could it be possible that, by suppressing Casca's ability to feel anything other that what he wanted her to feel at that moment, Femto kinda "stored" all the litteral unbearable physical pain into her? Resulting in her brain shutting down as soon as this pain goes back to the surface, like any fatal wound does in real life. (+ the legit trauma presented of course)
@RealLifeRyan I was just reading chapter 217, where Guts, Schierke and Isidro rescue Farnese and Casca from the Troll den; Guts shoots a troll that was about to attack Farnese and Casca with his crossbow, and follows it up with an 80s oneliner: "Sorry for the wait." This gave me an idea: Top __ Oneliners in Berserk, a video ranking the most awesome/edgy/brutal/badass one liners in the series!
I never really liked Corkus as a character, he kind of pissed me off. However, his death hit me hard. With the exception of Judeau, Corkus’s death was the hardest to watch during the eclipse.
I don't know why so many people didn't care for corkus, he was my favorite cause he was just the man who loved to enjoy what he had and what he earned.
I hated him because he held a grudge against Guts because he killed 1 or 2 band of the Hawk members, even though it was all his fault for attacking him in the first place.
@@FatPieceOfGarbage okay that's a fair point. He was stupid for holding onto that for so long. I mainly mean the people who hate him for being a spineless little shit even though considering the universe they live in
Why is nobody talking about chitch man her death hit me so hard I almost cried and we only knew her from this mini arc it's not like we had a whole lot of time to develop emotional connection with her Idk she's just too precious kinda like Puck at the beginning of the manga but even more wholesome and innocent + she resembled Guts in a way she was alone just like him at he time and she wanted to go and live with the other flowers like when Guts later joins the band of the hawk RIP Chitch
Every death in the eclipse mostly because their deaths were so disrespectful, we have this idea that the good characters if they die their deaths will be “good deaths” full of meaning and treated with gravitas and respect, while on the eclipse these characters we grew to love are torn apart, violated and eaten, and all their efforts during the eclipse are shown to be useless and meaningless
don't know if anyone remembers but during the arc about the count it was revealed that both apostle and sacrifice both go to the vortex of souls when they die, so the old band of the hawk are all fucked for eternity ;(
Great list and awesome video! I wanted to add a honorable mention of sorts. Similarly to Donovan, Gambino's and his death were also very important to Guts' character. He was a source of a lot of his trauma. Even killing the man has burdened Guts as shown by his breakdown in front of Casca.
I always wondered: Is the reason skull knight has a Rose on his shield and a Rose/Flower shaped sword that his beloved was affectioned towards flowers? If you look at her in chapter 362 she has a lot of flower shaped symbols on her (f.e. the necklace) and she resembles Danann, a being that has also a lot to do with flowers. In his “old” days as Geiserich, we see him wielding a different sword and shield with no signs of flowers. It always bothered me anyways: why a skull knight has a rose on his shield and a sword like this. Maybe the rose needles on the handle of the sword constantly paining him as punishment and an reminder of what he has lost every time he draws it? What do you guys think?
Griffith's death is my #1. Makes me very angry, and very sad. Angry and sad at his decisions and what he did, but also angry and sad for him because he was a good dude who cared about guts and even the other band of the hawk members to an extent even if tried not to with most of them. He was just a guy, and there was so much potential for him and Guts's future as friends but. Unfortunately void had other plans for him. And unfortunately Griffith chose the wrong path. An understandable path, but unforgivably wrong.
It would be very interesting to analyse the need to sacrifice people important to you to activate behelit from the buddhist angle. Dogen Kigen work on 4 ways of interaction made me think about it.
I watched first the 2 anime adaptations an then the manga and Gaston's death shocked me on the 90's adaptation but when I read the manga, at all scenes with Guts talking to Gaston I was like "Miura you piece of sh*t, you are building this bond just to make me and Guts suffer". He wanted just his damn flower shop dude, that's sad man

Was expecting Flora's death here. That silhouette of her burning within the house and still her golems are fighting with Skull Knight and she still has the energy to communicate about the armor. She's the original target of the invaders and died like a badass
Judeau is the reason I want Guts to either be able to get revenge, or to simply to be happy with Casca.
Plus the way he killed the count was badass. Gripping the Dragonslayer with his fucking TEETH. Good list tho man.
Judeau. Hands down. Pippin was probably 2nd, with Gaston as a close runner up. Ive never had fictional death bother me as much as the fate of the Band of the Hawk.
Anyone remember the guy who bought casca when she was kid, damn that death really hurt me. So tragic.
Donovan’s death was the saddest, imo, the guy was a saint...
You people are....interesting
I fucking love the Berserk community for this kind of shit. You guys are so messed up, and it's beautiful.

You monster.............. Obviously the king of midland death is sad..... All he wanted was his daughter's love
Sorry you went through that. Hopefully reading and getting through those chapters helped you to see that you are stronger than you know!
Why did we came here..........just to suffer?
#1 is Miura-San himself :,(
This video made realize that Corkus went out like a G. Rest in peace you wonderful bastard.
Judeau death hurt me the most
Judeu did win a very special place in Casca’s heart he fought to the very end saving her life. Casca knows that and he will forever be inmortal in her heart because of his actions in that hell that is the eclipse. Judeu earned that with his courage. I think Farnese would’ve been a better match for him he could’ve been really good for her.
honestly chitch's death was the first one to make me cry
Did she really die though? I don't remember the ark very well, but I remember Guts leaving her flower on a field at the end

The death of donovan... RIP Berserk's true father
Then what would make Miura?
Donavan was a true hero JK
@@DammnDeejay Miura is the creator of course, but Donovan is the G. Think about it, him raping guts when he was a child eventually led Guts to having sex with Casca. Now my headcannon is that Donovan is actually a God-like being that can see the future and saw that by raping Guts he would allow Guts to get with Casca. Donovan for real a real one respect for that hero.
@@RosesBottom Donavan did nothing wrong 😂😂😂
Cuz it was already apart of causality I feel 😂
Daddy Don did nothing wrong
The death of the child soldier who had the toy was like my No.1 The band of the Hawk reminds me of the childrens crusade of 1212..as even Griffith allowed children to join i think alot of them came from familys that were poor and children were viewed as property sold by their parents into slavery, sexual exploitation and had swords put in their hands as kids. Im thinking Muria prolly watched Lionheart from 1987 with Eric Stoltz. Anyone else seen this movie?
"You cry a lot when you're alone, don't you..." yes Judeau... I do..
Pray to God Guts doesn't die by the end of Berserk. If he does die his death will hit me harder than a truck
Who knows, from the last chapter. Maybe Rickerrt kills Giffith.
@@spottedslash4256 rickert will kill griffith with the power of another pimp slap
@@kerickleite4296 Thats a scary but intriguing look at things. A lot of fans wouldn't see it coming.
@@kerickleite4296 Now THAT would be heartbreaking.
You put Judeau in the picture, how couldnt i click the video. Judeau the best i love him
I always thought that Griffith twisted the Midland King. That he was actually just an overprotective father but through his interaction with Griffith and the mental trauma of finding out his daughter was deflowered really just messed with him.
That's just my theory.
I will never forgive Griffith for what he did to Judeau.
And the rest of the Band of the Hawk.
But... But Griffith did nothing wrong...
@@megashark1013 You know what? You’re right. I guess I never thought of it that way 😭😭😭
@@megashark1013 so you're just gonna gloss over Casca's r@pe at Femto/Griffith's hands? He absolutely did EVERYTHING wrong. There's no defending his actions.
My worst death was Judeau, I loved him, I was totally devastated when he collapsed.
Amazing, I'm so grateful for this list I couldn't describe it better myself, it seems like you're experiencing every death from its point of view the way you describe every one's make them at the top of its own category..
keep it up Ryan you deserve the attention even from Miura himself.
Thank you for the request my man! 👊
And especially during that scene when he was choking out Casca, non stop tears.
the number one death is the author of Berserk Kentaro Miura July 11, 1966 - May 6, 2021 RIP
The manga analysis is helping me so much dude. I appreciate you so fkn much. It's so crazy to think you have anxiety and depression because you look so professional and well put together. Much love
Pippin could definitely wield the dragon slayer!
a very honorable mention is little adonis that was a real messed up part.
R.I.P to Donovan, his death hit hardest
He was a man of honor rest in peace daddy donavan
deepthrort
One of the best top ten videos by far love this channel.
RIP Donavan, that one always hit me the hardest.
The true hero
Donavan did nothing wrong jk
If I was to die, I would want it to be the way Judo went, protecting someone to the bitter end
The worst part about The Band Of The Hawk deaths is that they all ended up in that vortex (Hell if we are being blunt) The Count was sucked up into.
do people who are sacrificed go to the same hell as those asshole apostles? that's kinda fucked up.. very berserk like
@@alihorda Not just sacrifices. I think every human or former human does regardless of if they are good or evil. Idk about non humans.
I never really liked Corkus as a character, he kind of pissed me off. However, his death hit me hard. With the exception of Judeau, Corkus’s death was the hardest to watch during the eclipse.
Judeau... that's the only death that I had an emotional response to. He didn't even get to tell Casca that he liked her 😭
I don't know why so many people didn't care for corkus, he was my favorite cause he was just the man who loved to enjoy what he had and what he earned.
He was too cynical, and hated Guts for being free in the all the ways Corkus could not be.
@@edwardgaines6561 Even still, he said it as he saw it. He was an asshole but absolutely didn't deserve to be in the Eclipse
I hated him because he held a grudge against Guts because he killed 1 or 2 band of the Hawk members, even though it was all his fault for attacking him in the first place.

Why is nobody talking about chitch man her death hit me so hard I almost cried and we only knew her from this mini arc it's not like we had a whole lot of time to develop emotional connection with her
Idk she's just too precious kinda like Puck at the beginning of the manga but even more wholesome and innocent
+ she resembled Guts in a way she was alone just like him at he time and she wanted to go and live with the other flowers like when Guts later joins the band of the hawk
RIP Chitch
I liked the Counts a lot cause it was the soul of the man he tortured that pulled him in as an extra screw you
The King's assault on Charlotte was very disturbing, it's always hard to read that
Every death in the eclipse mostly because their deaths were so disrespectful, we have this idea that the good characters if they die their deaths will be “good deaths” full of meaning and treated with gravitas and respect, while on the eclipse these characters we grew to love are torn apart, violated and eaten, and all their efforts during the eclipse are shown to be useless and meaningless
Judeau’s death just hits different
seriously, when judeau died my heart just shattered. i was bawling my eyes out..
don't know if anyone remembers but during the arc about the count it was revealed that both apostle and sacrifice both go to the vortex of souls when they die, so the old band of the hawk are all fucked for eternity ;(
number 1...kentaro miura himself 😔
honourable mention:miura
You described it so well... it makes me so sad. He couldn't say anything... sometimes you just don't have those magic words and it's sucks :/
gaston was a real one fr. F to the og Band.
Recently read through for the third time and I gotta say I completely agree with Judeau as top pick. That death never gets easier.
Great list and awesome video!
I wanted to add a honorable mention of sorts. Similarly to Donovan, Gambino's and his death were also very important to Guts' character. He was a source of a lot of his trauma. Even killing the man has burdened Guts as shown by his breakdown in front of Casca.
Gaston's death really was weird when he went meta in the anime dub he has the english voice of goku lmao
i also liked the mozgus plague doctor follower death, like he saw his death coming in advance and started thanking god for meeting mozgus
Any apostle doing too much bad things, guts will be under their bed.

#1 the death of Kentaro Miura
Griffith's death is my #1. Makes me very angry, and very sad. Angry and sad at his decisions and what he did, but also angry and sad for him because he was a good dude who cared about guts and even the other band of the hawk members to an extent even if tried not to with most of them. He was just a guy, and there was so much potential for him and Guts's future as friends but. Unfortunately void had other plans for him. And unfortunately Griffith chose the wrong path. An understandable path, but unforgivably wrong.
Bro I’m so happy you tube did something right and keep pushing this channel
It would be very interesting to analyse the need to sacrifice people important to you to activate behelit from the buddhist angle. Dogen Kigen work on 4 ways of interaction made me think about it.
I never noticed that Gaston lost his right eye and left arm.
The young Adonis one hit me 🙁
Literally all the main deaths in thr eclipse are in my top. The deaths of all the kids in the lost child arc too
One day it will be Griffith at number 1 in like 6-25 years
I watched first the 2 anime adaptations an then the manga and Gaston's death shocked me on the 90's adaptation but when I read the manga, at all scenes with Guts talking to Gaston I was like "Miura you piece of sh*t, you are building this bond just to make me and Guts suffer". He wanted just his damn flower shop dude, that's sad man
The english dub in the 97 anime have that great line when he`s dying " I guess it just wasnt in the cards"
Aye ryan you should keep on with the berserk comics and mangas like your doing right now it would just be like more fights like you know game battles or something like that like you just did.
Berserk and Evil Dead both have a lot in common in you think about it.
Ash Williams vs Guts?!
Where are those three apostles that guts killed when he got the berserker armour? They couldn't even transform... PAIN..
