Thanks for posting this audio of Madurai Somu and team of stalwarts! Brings back pleasant memories of listening to Akashavani' s broadcasts in the 70s!
it was via Sri Somu that i made the transition from lovely Bhakti padalgal to profound Carnatic music in the year 1979, purchasing, by sheer good fortune, at the Tamil run Indian vessels and sundry shop in in Chicago, USA, cassettes of MMI, SSI, MSS, DKP, K.P. Arunachulam, TNR, and Somu, who I already knew from Bhakti Padal...Though the owners were Christians, they knew their Carnatic music well. I remain grateful to them, and to the record store that sold me Ramnad Krishnan and Vishwa Sir, L.P.s, in the same year.
