I enjoyed this a bit too much. 9 months postpartum with baby 3 and started feeling the feels of being overwhelmed. Thank you for sharing your process for peace! Excited to look in to renovating health.
We as woman wear many different hats, we are constantly on the go, perfection is not possible please go easy on ourselves, I think Most woman try so very hard but as long as we’re doing the essentials and keeping our homes tidy and hygienic then we’re doing ok. Xx
Yes! I have never understood why you walk in and keep your shoes on! In Sweden we always take off our shoes! It is soo rude to keep them on here! If you are going to a nice dinner in someones house and you really want a pair of nicer shoes on, then you clean them underneath at home and bring them in a bag with your nice small evening bag. You change your outdoor boots to your indoor shoes, take out your cute evening bag and check yourself in the mirror and you have shown the host and hostess you respect for their home (clean floors and carpets) and family 👌 Lots of love from Sweden 🇸🇪
You truly radiate calmness and thoughtfulness. It’s truly inspiring. I know UA-cam is small snippets but I can tell you have been a journey of goodness since you started posting. I applaud you.
Can I just say you're my favorite YT channel. Our son is turning 2 in January and we have another baby due in April, and lately my home has felt like its own natural disaster 😆 Your words of wisdom and actionable suggestions fuel the fire in me to keep chipping away at the clutter within and without. Thank you Margaret!
Decluttering is such a long process for me since I work 8-5. Over the years I accumulated so many things but I love when I get rid of things I feel more at peace.
Love it!!! I have never owned a side table and I never will. I have anxiety and clutter around my home triggers it severely. My room is so simple, neutral and earthy colors to balance out the simplicity of it. Thank you my friend!! 😊
I cried my eyes out today because I feel like no matter how hard I try, my house is always a mess. Everything is so overstimulating I actually considered giving away 80% of my belongings out of despair. I also feel like I'm a failure because of this😢
That thing you had on top of the frige, when you took it down it looked soo much better and less cluttered that I could feel it all the way to Sweden 👌😘 You are the calm and simplyfied in person, to me! You have inspired me soo much since I started following you!
This is so helpful. The only thing I've found with decluttering is to be careful with getting rid of multiple things that I actually use. For example, I have a broom in my upstairs closet by the kitchen and hallway(which is all hard floor). I have a broom in my laundry room for my laundry room and master bathroom, and I have a tiny hand broom and dustpan directly next to my cats litterbox to immediately clean up the dust from her litter. I find I am so much quicker to just sweep the floor if the broom is right there rather than going to a different level of the house (which in my adhd brain would tell me "it takes too long to go get it and I'll do it later" or I would go to get it and get distracted...or I'd fail to put it back when I was done and forever be looking for it the next time) I do the same with scissors. I have some in almost every room of my house where I do use them....but I think it's to work with rather than against my adhd. They say for people with adhd to put things where you use it and so to minimize the clutter of that I just have to give things permanent homes where I use things and get rid of the stuff I don't use. (Also having trial periods where I box things up and try living without stuff is helpful before I officially get rid of it)
I think it was Cass from Clutterbug, but idr, who was talking about, "only keeping what you need to get a task done." And that has been the singular best piece of decluttering advice I've ever heard for my personal journey! It's really the only question I use any more, aside from when going through sentimental things. I think your broom situation is a perfect example, because keeping multiple is something that's just right for you, even if it doesn't fit the standard, "decluttering" box. It's all about our own beautiful journeys and making them more peaceful for ourselves💖
You plopping on your bed was the best part of this video! 😂 But anyways, great job with this one, especially about the dishware. I’m currently trying to redo this area of my home, and this was very helpful!
This was a fabulous video! The content (of course) but the vibes and quality too! Thank you for making this and sharing your perspective with the world ☺️
After this video I took the time to clear off my bathroom countertops and clean them. I put the toothbrushes and toothpaste on a white washcloth in the drawer. Looks much nicer and I really like it. Thank you for the advice.
Oh Margaret, you have described me to a tee! I struggle with overwhelm everyday around my home. I’ve been working towards a peaceful home. I’m a perfectionist and it’s impossible to maintain that with kids! Thank you for another great video ❤
Perfectionist here too! I once heard something so simple but it really stuck with me and I heard someone say “Done is better than perfect”! I don’t know why that helped me so much but it does. Anyway, best wishes for you.❤
Same here! And I live in a tiny house it’s a challenge…like it took me three weeks to decorate a TINY HOME for fall because I wanted it to be perfect….😅 to be fair though there’s a lot going in our life just in general.
I definitely feel that any form of clutter on surfaces is just messy and not nice, be it in bathrooms, night stands, tables, coffee tables, etc... As a mom of older teen kids (and a toddler), I just think moms need to stay on top of things and teach your kids how to tidy too. Also, don't live in large homes. It will stress you out more. Live in as small of a home is possible. My kids have a pair of sneakers and flip flops and that's it. As they get older, they'll need more for weddings (dress shoes) or maybe hiking if they choose to get into that. . things like that.
I feel a huge problem is, knowing you’ve spent money on items and then downsizing even though you don’t need it is hard because it feels like you’re throwing away money. Makes me feels wasteful but then keeping makes me feel cluttered… no win
Keep a for-sale bin and sell things on FB Marketplace if you need the money! But if you don't, you'd be surprised how good it feels to give things to people in need xx
Keeping it doesn’t put the money back in your pocket. It’s called a sunk cost. The money is gone regardless. Giving it away may finally put it to good use, so it’s less wasted, and it also helps cement a lesson in your mind to not spend money like that again unless it’s something you need.
This was a fabulous video! The content (of course) but the vibes and quality too! Thank you for making this and sharing your perspective with the world ☺️
Love this! My mother used to tell us “don’t put it down, put it away” and I still repeat it in my head daily 😂
That's great! Might steal that one (:
My dad would say "a place for everything and everything in its place"

Same in Germany - take off your shoes when you come in. I have slippers and cosy socks for my guests with cold feet.

Absolutely, so touched that I can help you in this season of life!! You're doing great ♥️

Great video! ❤ I decluttered three big things out of my home whilst watching.
I cried my eyes out today because I feel like no matter how hard I try, my house is always a mess. Everything is so overstimulating I actually considered giving away 80% of my belongings out of despair. I also feel like I'm a failure because of this😢
Amen about shoes and taking them off! We’ve done that in our home and it give me a peace of mind for sure!

Watching your video…..I love your opening!! So welcoming!! 😢
You always know how to simplify things perfectly.

Inspiring as always; thank you.
Where is that lamp from, Marg? Need one like that for our side table ❤
Love your videos! Also, where did you get your headboard? Do you like not having a footboard?
Hi Margaret! Are you able to link your salt lamp alarm clock? Wasn't sure if its all one piece or separate :)
Where did you get your comforter in your bedroom? And what color is the paint? So cozy!! I love it!!
Oh thank you! Comforter is from Boll and Branch! Not sure what the paint is, we're in an apartment!
A breath of fresh air, as always ☺️
Where did you get that bedside table lamp!?
Where is your bedding from? Is it all cotton? I’m looking for good quality natural material bedding
