Great review of this classic helicopter..Which as you rightly said is “well overdue”..In two minds to get this lovely kit of the Hip or Trumpeters version.?.I like Zvezda and I do like the paint options with the Zvezda kit, especially the Cuban option.. Thanks again and all the best from Blighty 🇬🇧👍
Good review as always. Zvezda has raised rivets, Trumpeter recessed rivets and AMK hardly any rivets to speak of. The Trumpeter kit comes with the winch. I tried to notice on your review, but, I have "heard", that on some of the riveting on the Zvezda kit, rows of rivets start out well pronounced, but as the rivet line continues, they practically fade out of view, not so pronounced?
Hi Yardbird thanks for support. I had a double check of the parts and I can confirm that is false information. The definition of the riveting does not fade off at all on the tail boom as can clearly be seen in the video. On the fuselage halfs some of the riveting is entirely omitted deliberately in order that the flotation bags can easily be attached to the mounting points. come back to me if they can point out the exact part they think the rivets are faded but I see no evidence of that.
@@TheBearScaleModels Your welcome. And thank you for the reply. The two parts G-16 & 17 that makes up the four piece tail boom are the "suspected" parts that " supposedly" have the rivet fade, as shown by "actual" photos of these two pieces, from the acrforums. But, you have already mentioned that the boom doesn't have any such fading ( will re-watch your video again ) . I already have the Trumpeter Mi-8 that I bought from I-Modelist for 47USD. And I am thinking of getting the Zvezda as well, but, I wanted to get confirmation from you before doing this. 😉🙂 Thank you!
@Yardbird68 I just checked those parts again. And on g17 and g16 yes one row of rivets is fainter than the other rows... but its hardly noticeable and not a big drama like the rivet counter makes out on that forum.
@@TheBearScaleModels Thanks for the response. I'm not either, I was more or less curious, as their photos seems to show a worse condition. I am sure if a kit was missing one rivet, it would be a deal breaker 😆 Thanks again!
@@TheBearScaleModels nah this kit deserves to be in military camo. I know with current mood anything Russian will be wrongly viewed. I think the soviet era camo would be wonderful
Regardless to what’s going on in the world, I’ve always been a fan of Russian aircraft, especially the Su-30. Thanks and keep’em coming, Bear!
Thanks for support Steve ! really appreciated
