Einar, a young man from northern England lives with his mother and younger sister in a quiet farming village. One day the village is destroyed in a Viking attack, and Einar's life changes dramatically.
this season is a MASTERPIECE
The reason he became a slave is fairly obvious. He slashed a Danish prince with a knife. Normally, he would have been executed. But It is believed that Canute felt sorry for him and took a lighter punishment.
Fun fact, the opening sequence of this season was spoken in actual Old Norse, not Japanese, hence the Japanese subtitles.
Season 2 begins about 6 months to a year after events of season 1.
That means thorfinn has been a slave on this farm for about half a year now.
Funny enough this IS more so the REAL Vinland Saga like it’s the start of the actual main story because as crazy as it may sound season 1 was just the prologue with like extra content to make it longer which wasn’t in the manga. The prologue is like 50ish chapters which isn’t a lot. It’s crazy crazy isn’t? That a character as great as Askeladd wasn’t actually part of the main story he obviously played a HUGE part in Thorfinns life but he was never the main focus. Really makes you think what this series has in store for you if all that was just a prologue huh?
