Magnet Crane at Steel Plant w/Great Sound! / Paling Truck Transports Scrap Ladles, Cleveland-Cliffs

- An overhead crane with magnets picks steel scrap from the scrap yard area at Cleveland-Cliffs in Steelton, Pa., dumping the scrap into huge ladles. The buckets of scrap are transported by a specialized Paling truck, which brings the empties back and takes the full ladles to the steel plant melt shop.

Thats cool you got that. i was down there the other day and got some trucks unloading scrap. When i worked there i used to walk up there and watch them load the ladles Very noisey operation.I did manage to get the S&H RR making a shift with number 78.
Thanks Mike, I was hoping you would see this...I'm not so sure of the terminology so I changed bucket to the proper ladle, LOL This is fascinating to watch and the sound is great depending on the type of scrap falling. Really cool place
@@danscoolvideos6024 Yes it's something to see. That truck that brought the ladle into the the scrap facility to get loaded. Will come back and take the loaded ladle back to Steel making. Then it's unloaded into another hot ladle (the ladle that holds molten steel) Then it's charged with a huge electrode about 15 or so inches in diameter. Then can cook a 150 tons of scrap to molten steel in about 50 minutes. 3200 degrees

@@danscoolvideos6024 I might be able to get you in. Not sure but it might help with the job you have. They are really safety conscious at that plant. If we do get in you have to see the rail mill where I worked. That way you can see how a rail is made. That's quite a process.

it's man operated. I saw him get picked up by an employee at the end of the shift
