According to the museum's website, it seems as if things were going well for the E-8s in 2007, but don't know what happened since. This is from the website: "The Museum purchased a pair of historic New York Central E-8 diesel locomotives (NYC 4068 and NYC 4080) from Michael Fox of Kansas in 2007. The Units were transported via CSXT from Nashville, TN arriving in Lockport, NY in early April 2007. E-8 experts Roger and Dwayne Fuehring (sons of the late Bill Fuehring who was instrumental in forming the national Rail Passenger Car Association) were on hand to check them over and fire them up. However, having not been operated in the previous 3 years, the E-8’s needed a good deal of maintenance and service. The units were stored in Lockport for a couple of years and are now stored in Medina, where they are undergoing restoration as time and funds permit. In early August 2007 the Fuehring brothers were back in Lockport assisting with the servicing necessary to bring these units up to FRA maintenance standards for return to active duty on the “Erie Canal Excursions” between Medina and Lockport, NY. New motor brushes and a pair of bolster shims have been installed. One replacement governor has been installed and checked out. Most of the FRA 92-day inspections have been completed."

This $122 million project is installing 113,000 concrete ties and cleaning/renewing 226,500 feet of gravel ballast on 43 miles of track between Lancaster and Harrisburg, Pa.

That does need to watch

As a train person you surely must know that Amtrak neither owns nor maintains a single mile of track anywhere in the USA. This is a 3rd party company hired by the freight company that owns those tracks. Quit spreading false information and do videos on things you have zero clue about

what they really need is a way to wash off all the coal. They are trying to make the trackbed drain water, and putting the rocks through a sorting machine like that will definitely get rid of the sand, but not all the coal dust.

To those workers looking towards the camera......flying rock is more dangerous. Pay attention to what you're doing.....not someone 40 or 50 feet away.

Uhi, well that's a nice classic car, the RM-80 actually comes from the 80s. Here in Europe, only a few are still in use. The latest generation of track bedding cleaning machines is the PM-1000, which can also renew the grade protection layer at the same time. What's wrong with the E8s?

This machine looks to be an enginers worst nightmare. Lots of moving parts but they seem to work together, most of the time.

You wish to see a more dynamic and mountainous layout of approximately 1800 plus square feet Walnut Creek California railroad club. Puts this to shame as far as operation, scenery and CTC board. This is nice -but no comparing to that one. Size isn't always the best thing. You

Huh, I'll be dern. My mom (now retired) Used to work for "UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD" for years and told me how they switch out cross ties, But I still didn't understand fully how it was done until now. I give credit where credit is due: THIS IS PRETTY NEAT. I WISH AMTRAK WOULD DO THIS FOR A LINE COMING TO AND FROM FT SMITH ARKANSAS. THAT WOULD REALLY BE GREAT 👍!
