  • Short (by my standards) video showing how to align the apron/skirt of your mini lathe with the lead screw. This was part of my much longer DRO install video for this lathe, but I decided to pull it out and show it here instead.
Yes, that's a silly AI generated video thumbnail image.

Thanks for the shout out too, the carriage lock bolt that works with the multifix handle is still going great, once you tune the clamping area, the bolt worked great. Super easy to use, you never lose the handle and its a good litlle project. Easy 1 day build 👍👌🇦🇺

Yes, I'll be thinking about doing that as a project. Might have to do it with its own custom handle. It's a little tight there now with the DRO scale.

Thanks Adam. The DRO install went well but took forever because I ended up fixing up a bunch of other things on the lathe whilst I had it in pieces. I also still need to put both DRO's through some calibration before I really get serious with them. But first I've just finished editing the next episode on the Honda so I'll put that up shortly. It should be really be 3-4 episodes but I'm not going to bother trying to split it up for the few views they get.

I got the 320mm glass scale mounted to the bed (after rotating the motor inward and down to gain space in the rear and then modifying the splashwall and motor cover + repainting both). The crossslide mag scale is in pos as well - just the sensor is waiting on it's electronics to go back in (broke some little bug on there dis-assembling it as I had to move the cable port). Electronics box also is flat and same level as the headstock - and part of the full area tray is done + the mount for the DRO is done and that one is already in place. New front panel also got done.. will post a video once I got the mag sensor back together.
PS: nice adjustment job on yours. 👌

Thanks Sparky. Yes it'd be great to see some of the mods on video, even just a simple poke around with your phone camera. I'll have my DRO vid done shortly... just spent the day sorting out the next Honda video, which is very long but who cares :)

      @@Ducati900SS _lil' update_
no vid yet, but turned an internal thread (3/4 x 12TPI) in steel and used up an insert.. of which I only had 2, so I got suspicious.. then an external M16x2 in stainless and broke one of those 55deg inserts.. after that I checked the saddle for play and .. the bed front underside is wonky (0.07mm difference over 350mm and that choppy).. just got back inside having finished crude filing/scraping/grinding to get this under control (0.01mm play now) for the next couple months. Watched Richard Moore and RotarySMP fixing theirs and recognizing similar problems.. I got a 300x230x50 surface plate ordered for AUD100 (carbatec via ebay) and some carbide blank and diamond discs from ali.. yay?! That gear might be able to fix the bed, not sure.
So to answer ur question from a couple months back - yes, my saddle/bed is as bad as they come. I wouldn't want to start talking about bearing area at all right now as it's really .
