- so i just fucked around on audacity and looped the music box part of Davy Jones, composed by Hans Zimmer.. Used the music for inspiration in photoshop, hence the background image.
no copyright infringement intended, I only enjoy this part of the song and wanted to make it loop.. And I know there are others who enjoy it too, so why not share?
I love the thumbnail/background image. Would you mind posting it somewhere?
Someone else asked the same question a couple years ago, and I do need to reiterate that youtube auto-enhanced the the image by fiddling with the contrast and brightness, so the original image is a lot darker than on the video. Has anyone else noticed that Calypso’s and Jones’ music boxes are different pitched. They’re meant to be played together in harmony, and with out one the other sounds lacking. A good metaphor for two hearts separated.

I tried it out with the video program and are you sure they're meant to be like that? Because if I play them together it sounds pretty creepy tho
but it would work if you'd say the both cut the song in 2 halfs so each has one to connect eachother again. That'd make more sense when I listen to it and compare with other videos lmao

When people ask who my favorite Disney villain is, I tell them Davy Jones. Not because of his cool design, not because he’s the most feared being in the open sea and not because he can command a friggan Kraken to do his bidding, but because of his tale. Davy Jones is one of the most misunderstood villains ever. His entire existence explains why love is a risky emotion and how it can turn even the most kindhearted of men into cruel and despicable monsters. Sure it may not be classic, animated Disney, but it’s a helluva lot better than any Disney villain I’ve ever seen.

If anything, this is just so sad. I lost all bad feelings towards the villain character when I started hearing this song and thinking about his heart being ripped out both physically and metaphorically when Calipso refused to return to him 10 years after he started ferrying souls to the afterlife.

I understand davy jones’ pain all too well, you love someone and get enslaved in a false sense of security. Then one day she breaks your heart and you see that she only pretended to love you because she wanted something from you. The heart is like a porcelain statue, its fragile if your not careful with it because once its broken all thats left are the pieces that once formed it. Mine took years to rebuild but the cracks are forever, no woman deserves my heart for its been through too much.
Calypso, goddess of the sea, gave Jones his role to immortally roam the seas.
As the sea, she was with him always as she sailed.
Ten years they returned, but Calypso remained as the sea.
Yet this is not how human hearts and minds worked, so feeling betrayed Jones carved his heart.
One misunderstanding of love between mortal and goddess; neither are to blame.

Davy Jones is easily my favorite PotC antagonist out of the movies. The way he's written, the story for him and his reasons, makes Dead Mans Chest all the more my favorite.

It’s been a long time since I first heard this and it still gets me. It’s a beautiful piece and it pairs with his story perfectly. I always felt bad for Davy Jones in the movies. Bill Nighy pulled him off great as both a villain and a (technically) human being. He betrayed her after she betrayed and tricked him into eternal servitude.

While PotC is a franchise with many rememberable characters. Davy Jones has always stood out to me. As someone who have been in love and rejected and betrayed many times in my life, he is one of few characters I can really feel for. I come here now after my girlfriend broke up with me. This theme is somehow calming yet makes me cry uncontrollably. But atleast I know I feel the same he feels, without doubt, and it is perfectly put into this melody.
I pushed her away. But now I can never have her again. And it’s only now, years later, I realize she’s the only one I ever loved.
