I love how it’s shrink wrapped in clear instead of the white butcher paper and plastic wrap. Our butcher had our bacon in trays as well that I love. Congratulations guys!
You two should be so very proud of raising all of that meat for yourselves! God bless you as you enjoy it throughout the year!
100% agree with you! Proud
Aww yes mama had a great life.I love how you talked to her and tried to pet her Everytime you went to feed her.Her meat looks wonderful. You guys have alot of good meals for your family there.
I’m excited for mine after seeing this. Can’t wait
I remember when you put her in the trailer and how Jen cried. It showed how much you love and care for your animals and like you said, you're providing the best meat for your family.
What a wonderful channel, keep up the good work.
I agree. My fellow Kentucky people!!!
If you like the kune kune you should look into Idaho pasture pigs. They are part kune. Great meat. Great temperament. Low feed cost. Shorter grow out time and more meat.
@Liberty Micro Farm...All well said. But, depending on where you are, IPP's can be rare and expensive. BUT, once you acquire them they breed better than many and 'grow out' time is faster than the 'smaller' breeds. JMHO's....~Eli.
How awesome, so happy for you! I really like the fact they are not huge.
Thank you!!!!!!
Please take care and be safe!
Yes you should raise your own meat. We raise pigs, calves, goats, sheep, chickens for their meat and eggs. Love you guys keep up the awesome work!!
That is REAL FOOD not crap out of stores.
Y’all did care very well for’er 😁 Such a beautiful meat y’all raised!! Really is worth it to know what you are feeling your family. And teach the kiddos where bier food really comes from and giving thanks to God and reverence for the animals! Bless y’all!
Always wonderful to see how well the family cared for the animal.
Great honest info and good job with your family and farm! I'm starving for homegrown pork again!
Oh, I liked going along for the drive when you went to pick up your meat. You have really pretty road sides where you are. It is fun to see more of where other people live. Thank you.
I love you STIVERS ❤❤❤❤ absolutely love getting a notification from you all ☺
My husband & I are currently looking for a few acres to retire on. So far all the properties (neighborhoods) we've viewed are not swine friendly. We can have cows, horses, goats; no pigs. Widening our search. 😊 You two always bring a smile to my soul.
Thank you for sharing all the costs! The pork looked fantastic! Blessings guys🙏🏻💖
The sweet way y'all treated mama pig, she gave it back 10 folds. Great job!
Yay!!! Store bought bacon is over $6.00 for a 12oz. package.
Yours is gorgeous!
Just an FYI: if you bake it @325 on a baking sheet it won't curl and you don't have to turn it. Just be sure to have a glass or metal boil to pour up the grease when it needs draining.
I'm so proud of you both for making the world a better place because you're in it!
Big hugs! Big respect!
☮️💖🙏
Great job you two. Nothing tastes better than home raised meat.
Blessings, 😊💕🙏🏻🇨🇦
I love your outlook on raising and consuming animals. I have always eaten my own raised sheep and cattle. The last time we had a steer ready for butchering time we actually processed it ourselves. The money saved and being able to keep an eye on our own quality control was so worth all of the extra work. Love your videos and your education on farming/ranching/gardening!!
so proud of you. Thankful for your move and larger farm. Thank you for sharing with others, encouraging them/us!
You two are the absolute cutest on YT. So love watching you and I have learned a lot. Thanks so much!
Kudos to you for being able to eat something that was once a pet/ farm animal. Mama had a personality and didn't want to be killed. If animals live near me I can't help to interact with them and get to know them.
Where y’all live in Kentucky is gorgeous. I’m envious. Momma’s meat is gonna serve you well. Looks good. Y’all got it going on! ❤️🙏
You two are awesome. Love watching your channel, and learning a lot of things. Not a homesteader, but love all the info and tips.
The road trip was enough for me. I miss country roads.
That is the best looking pork I have ever seen and we buy from a local homesteader who raises them for us. The meat isn't pink like the store buy it's not as dark as yours. It does have awesome flavor but my guess is yours is going to be superb... mouth watering!💜 God Bless.
We just bought a kune kune and a home with Two acres we have had chickens and rabbits and quail . Wanna get a male to kune kune to have littles and put food in freezer. Thank you all so much for sharing your journey. So glad we did choose kune kune !
Really nice meat!! Thank you Mama!! Around here kunekune breeding pairs of piglets run about $850 to $1000
Awesome! Meat looks wonderful. You guys are such hard workers and enjoying it. Your smiles and humor just brings me joy!!!😊😀
Well done! Thanks for sharing all the details so others can learn the process, and appreciate all the hard work y’all put in.
Sorry guys...late getting here.
Been sick. WOW!!! Mama gave you SO MUCH meat!!! That's totally amazing!!! That's a lot of meat for one pig. So proud of you guys. Great job!!!
Wish I was there to eat dinner with you...Lol 👍👍👍👍👍✋✋✋✋✋❤❤❤❤❤
That looks amazing! It looked like beef and there was so much of it!
That is awesome! The best part of bringing your meat in is wanting to eat it right away! 💚 That ham steak looks delicious! That use to be my quick I forgot to lay out supper meal but we haven’t butchered pork ourselves in awhile. Enjoy your pork! Hoping to get pigs next Spring! 🤞
That is some stunning looking meat! You guys did very well. I am SO looking forward to the time we have a bigger property and can raise our own pigs. The kune kune comes from my country, New Zealand. They almost died out at one point but thankfully made a good comeback, so it's great to see them available and doing well overseas too.
Now that’s a whole lot of love💚🐖💚🌱💚
Kune, kune, looks quite awesome on your table !
Great job guys ! So happy mama filled the freezer that cheap too ! Be blessed and favored always 💖🙏🏽
YES!!!!! The Butchers a believer now.. the power of the Homestead..LOL That meat looks amazing. Its going to be good. Whats for dinner..lol Have a good day.- Melanie
That was so worth it. Now I know what kind of pig I want to get.
Thanks so much for making this video. Loved the country roads you went down and the information on the pig meat and cost.
Well done you guys!💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
The meat looked so good, nice cuts and I am still drooling over the bacon.
Hi from New Zealand Did you know that the current breed of kune kune came from Asia, was bought to New Zealand by American whalers and was raised by Maori well before white settlers arrived here.
So happy an proud of you all.
Good afternoon! Great video as always!! Have a great night!
Agree
How exciting! I so enjoyed this one. Great job y'all!
You guys laugh to much. Always smiling, laughing joking. I Love it! You make my day! Keep smiling.
Nice pork! We are looking into getting a sow for our American Guinea/ Kune boar cross. This makes me want a 100% Kune sow!
The Sweetest Smiles on You Tube! Congrats on the excellent Pork, it did honestly look like Beef...well done!
You two make my day all ways smiling I all ways get a laugh
A great family forsure
I love your enthusiasm.
Lot of great looking meat there. Some of the best looking bacon I've ever seen. TFS
This is awesome, congratulations guys!!!
I love how red the meat is! 😍
Pigs are awesome to raise!! The taste of home grown pork is amazing!! Unfortunately, I haven't seen those pigs in this area, but after 6 years I have figured out a good feed and water system! Once you know what you are doing pigs are a piece of cake!! PS. Thank you guys for always making me smile, I really love how the two of you interact! Especially when you get the giggles!!!
The barn and fence you filmed is a cousins place that is how I knew where you were! Small world.
Another great video!! Y'all help so much!! Thank you!! Love y'all 🤗🤗
I love your videos. Your easy going style is so wonderful. It makes your videos so engaging. My wife and I are trying to reestablish her family farm. It me be a LONG road for us to hoe but we are committed. God bless you and your family for providing us some guidance and entertainment along the way.
You were in my neck of the woods in Williamsburg at C&B Slaughter House!
Brilliant video. So informative thanks guys. Xx
Good work! So proud of you guys! 💛💛💛💛
The smile and excitement on Zachs face said it all!
I've also heard good things about Idaho Pasture Pigs and Idaho Pasture Pig/Kunekune crosses.
Beautiful country roads. 😊
You did a GREAT JOB with this video! I learned everything I wanted to know about this subject, and it can be a sensitive subject for some people, ya'll did great. Thank You so much for the information!
It looks awesome.
My dad sold nickel and dime insurance and never paid for the first cow or pig. If the client couldn't make their premiums, daddy would and they gave him what we raised.
Yay Stivers! Great work guys!
Y'all did a great job.
Many years ago in my younger, lol, years we raised our own food as I grew up. I am 51 and when I was home we had our cow for milk, pigs for food, chickens well EVERYTHING. Then I moved to town and got married and now 30 something years later my mom is 83 Saturday and in very bad health so I am having to take care of her and my dad. A little of my story, I live in East TN in Cocke County on the NC line. My family lived on a farm and my moms sister lived right next door, she was a 2nd mother to me, but we lost her last July and then very unexpected my middle sister passed away August 23 suddenly, then my oldest sister passed November 25 suddenly. So I lost my 2 sisters and aunt within 4 months and just DEVESTATED ME.... So my 1st cousin, my aunts son, called and ask if i would be interested in.moving into her house , which is right next to my mothers, because I take care of my mother, my dad and my.husband who is disabled also PLUS WORK FULL TIME.... He said I think it will be easier if ur closer because I go from 6 am until 9 or 10 at night everyday so I said yes and here I am back on the farm....... So I am getting ready to get me some chickens, pigs, a cow and bring back the JOY OF MY YOUTH AND START WITH MY OWN FOOD AGAIN.... U ALL ARE SO INSPIRING AND MAKE ME WANT TO DO IT ASAP... THANK.U AND PLEASE PRAY FOR.ME AND MY FAMILY WE NEED EVERY ONE WE CAN GET
Praying for you. We tried so hard to find a place to buy in cocke county but it wasn’t in the cards for us. I bet you have a beautiful place ❤️
@@StiversHomestead oh that is so AWESOME!!!! OH IT IS, U just made my whole week!!!! I wish I had known u all then because I AM sure I could have helped u out....😁 u are more than welcome anytime to come back down for a visit. I was born and raised here and I WILL get u some pics very soon. I work as a dispatcher for the ambulance service here in Cocke County and this is my LONG WEEK LOL... THANK U SO MUCH FOR THE THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS... IT HAS BEEN SO HARD FOR MY MOM AND DAD BUT WITH THE LORD'S HELP WE WILL GET BY..💖💖💖💖💖🐷🐰🐓... My husband is asking if u have ever heard of Annie's pork & bean store in the 15th???? They were on the show Homesteaders with Marty a couple years ago. They put a big water wheel in the creek beside the store..
Praying for you & your family & great luck on your farm
Trying to talk my hubby into pasture pigs...talked em into chickens so maybe one day I'll have my own home grown pork chop
I said the exact same thing !! That look's like BEEF !! LOL
Lol It really did. Crazy
That bacon looks amazing. Great looking meat. I'm so happy for y'all. Naked the effort so worth it.
Hey...not to forget, pork is the other white meat :) Now yours looked like rich steaks, lol but that because of the way you raised her and like you said..her breed. Beautiful meat!
Love your channel. I have learned a lot. Great looking meat....
I’m not sure if I’ve seen you pressure can, but you can PC the sausage to take pressure off your freezers. 😉. And I have found it makes meal time fast during the very busy gardening season. Great Vlog!!
Looks absolutely amazing! It is also getting me even more excited to get my pork from the butcher. I live in a suburb and can't raise my own meat, but I was able to get half of a pasture raised pig (all I have room for in my freezer) from a farm less than 30 miles from my house. $4.25/lb, plus the butcher fees. Just waiting on the call from the butcher to tell me it is ready. It's not Kune Kune like yours, but at least it's not from a massive feed lot hundreds of miles away.
Wish I had some of those pork chops! From Montgomery al
Thanks for showing this! I have been wanting pigs but my husband grew up with feeder, show pigs, so he has been hesitant to get started. He wants to grow our own pork, but only knows that kind of pig. Maybe I can get him on the Kune Kune train lol!!
When I was a kid we raised weiner pigs. We raised them on a fenced 1 1/2 acre area. That had a creek that went thru it and made a pond. Had a slope of grassy area. A mud wallow for them. A nice dry straw filled house for them. It was pig heaven. And as a kid I was in there with them alot! We raised 6 to 13 pigs each year. Depending on who wanted us to raise some for them. The people would buy the bags of different grains, about 7. And we had the place and did the feeding etc. The others would pay for their own pigs and then their butchering and cut and wrapping fees. So we hardly paid much for our 3 or 4 we raised for our own use. And I remember our pork tasted so much better than store bought pork. So you don't have to have fancy expensive breeds to get great tasting pork. And we only raised ours little less than 5 months. Any longer and you are just putting on fat on them. My hubby and I want to raise a couple next spring. And we will have an acre fenced for them.
We don't eat pork products due to our religious conditions. That being said, I am glad that you were able to get a decent return on your investment. It's nice to see that homesteading does give a good return on investment, maybe not directly in cost, but in quality.
Yeap we just botched one out ourself. and have another one going to freezer camp at end of month.
"Mama's in the freezer".......LOL
I totally agree, that was some perrdy pork! She did you well :)
With America going in a direction that seems to be not good, this seems like the smart way to go. I am thinking about getting a pig and some chickens.
That meat is so red looks lik beef. Looks so good perfect marbling. Looking forward when we get our farm .
Wait till you render down that fat. The baked items using the lard are out of this world! I recently made raisin filled cookies and they are amazing. Nothing better than fresh pork chops on the grill....YUM
Awesome!
Animals will die eventually ‘of something’ why not give them a great life and in return they feed your family. I think the meat looks wonderful!!
I understand it is hard because we become attached also.
Great video. I’m new to your channel and love how psych’d you guys are.
Beautiful table of meat. Thank you, mama. I think pork is so much better than beef.
Our local organic, high end food store sells good meat like that for almost $7.00 a lb, so I feel you did get yout money's worth and then some!
Great looking pork. Good job!
Congrats, the color on the Meat is Gorgeous 🙌💥.
I'm so happy for Yah 💞.
JO JO IN VT 💕😄
Looks fantastic
I cant believe thats from ONE PIG!!!!!!WOW
Wow! That's from ONE pig?
Future plans: buy a Kune Kune from y'all! First step: get moved to TN (looking for a homestead up near y'all), God Bless!
That’s awesome
Yummmm, Pork! What time should I come over? Hahahaha
How awesome, and have a future buyer to boot... Better jump on that!
