This was NOT self defense. This started out as a mutual fight that went too far. When Kaliegh was on the ground knocked out, the other girl should've walked away. But no, she had to grab Kaliegh's head and smash her head into the ground over and over. In 1920, Rosewood Blacks had three churches, a school, a large Masonic Hall, turpentine mill, a sugarcane mill, a baseball team and a general store (a second one was white-owned). The village had about two dozen plank two-story homes, some other small houses, as well as several small unoccupied plank structures. Spurred by unsupported accusations that a white woman in Sumner had been beaten and possibly raped by a Black drifter, white men from a number of nearby towns lynched a Rosewood resident. When the Black citizens defended themselves against further attack, several hundred whites combed the countryside hunting Black people and burning almost every structure in Rosewood. Survivors hid for several days in nearby swamps and were evacuated by train and car to larger towns. Although state and local authorities were aware of the violence, they made no arrests for the activities in Rosewood. At least six Blacks and two whites were killed, and the town was abandoned by Black residents during the attacks. None ever returned.
The East St. Louis Massacre (1917) During spring 1917 Blacks were arriving in St. Louis at the rate of 2,000 per week, with many of them finding work at the Aluminum Ore Company and the American Steel Company in East St. Louis. Some whites feared a loss of job and wage security because of the new competition, and further resented newcomers arriving from a rural, very different culture. Tensions between the groups ran high and escalated when rumors were spread about Black men and white women socializing at labor meetings. In May, 3,000 white men gathered in downtown East St. Louis. The roving mob began burning buildings and attacking Black people. The Illinois governor called in the National Guard to prevent further rioting and conditions eased somewhat for a few weeks. Then on July 1, white men driving a car through a Black neighborhood began shooting into houses, stores, and a church. A group of Black men organized themselves to defend against the attackers. As they gathered, they mistook an approaching car for the same one that had earlier driven through the neighborhood and they shot and killed both men in the car, who were, in fact, police detectives sent to calm the situation. The shooting of the detectives incensed a growing crowd of white spectators who came the next day to examine the car. The crowd grew and turned into a mob that spent the day and the following night on a spree of violence targeting Black neighborhoods of East St. Louis. Again, guardsmen were called in but various accounts suggest they joined in attacking Black people rather than stopping the violence.
The city of Atlanta, and its neighboring areas, have a long history of terrorizing the Black community. Unfortunately, like so many others, the story of Lake Lanier has been buried, stolen and drowned under lengths of anguish and agony. In 1912, White residents orchestrated a campaign of terror to drive almost all of Forsyth’s 1,098 Black residents out of the county. They were forced to leave in a matter of weeks, whether they were wealthy or poor, educated or illiterate. Everything was destroyed and stolen, from farms to tombstones, by marauding locals. The burnt remains of homes and churches vanished into the weeds until all of Forsyth was forgotten.
The townspeople of Oscarville were able to create and live in a thriving community, but soon a spark of events led to its demise. A young, White woman known as Ellen Grice stated that two Black men tried to rape her on September 5th, 1912, and the Sheriff apprehended five Black men for the supposed assault. Grant Smith, a prominent Black pastor, urged the Sheriff to let them go. He argued that there was not enough evidence to convict all five persons of assault. Many White residents were horrified by his claims, and an enraged mob attacked and horse-whipped the preacher on the courthouse steps, nearly killing him.
Another White woman, Mae Crow, was raped and abused in Forsyth a week later, on September 12th, 1912. Ernest Knox, a 16-year-old Black boy, was arrested at his home and then forced to a simulated lynching, which prompted him to confess to the incident. A lynch mob erupted in front of the jailhouse almost immediately. The following day, four more Black men were apprehended and placed into custody, all of which were suspected of being accomplices to the 16-year-old. Soon after, another enraged crowd of almost 2,000 White citizens invaded the county jail, murdering one of the alleged suspects. His body was hauled from the jailhouse and hung from a telephone pole in the town square by the mob.
Ernest Knox and one of the other Black men, Oscar Daniel were reported guilty of raping Mae Crow. They were (illegally) sentenced to death by hanging in violation of the law. 8,000 White residents gathered in the town square to witness two teenage boys being publicly hanged for a crime they never had the chance to defend.
Black Residents Murdered and Driven Out Fear would progress after this event, as a White terrorist group known as the “Night Riders” made it their duty to run every Black person they came across out of town. I had my chance once and was selected. The black kid sitting next to me during jury interviews said the dude on trial was never gonna get a fair trial because of our racist justice system. He got booted from the pool. Then they sent all who were selected to a room for about two hours only to discover, there would be no trial cuz the guy pled guilty so I was denied my chance and sent home. In 1920, Rosewood Blacks had three churches, a school, a large Masonic Hall, turpentine mill, a sugarcane mill, a baseball team and a general store (a second one was white-owned). The village had about two dozen plank two-story homes, some other small houses, as well as several small unoccupied plank structures.
Spurred by unsupported accusations that a white woman in Sumner had been beaten and possibly raped by a Black drifter, white men from a number of nearby towns lynched a Rosewood resident. When the Black citizens defended themselves against further attack, several hundred whites combed the countryside hunting Black people and burning almost every structure in Rosewood.
Survivors hid for several days in nearby swamps and were evacuated by train and car to larger towns. Although state and local authorities were aware of the violence, they made no arrests for the activities in Rosewood. At least six Blacks and two whites were killed, and the town was abandoned by Black residents during the attacks. None ever returned.
The East St. Louis Massacre (1917)
During spring 1917 Blacks were arriving in St. Louis at the rate of 2,000 per week, with many of them finding work at the Aluminum Ore Company and the American Steel Company in East St. Louis.
Some whites feared a loss of job and wage security because of the new competition, and further resented newcomers arriving from a rural, very different culture. Tensions between the groups ran high and escalated when rumors were spread about Black men and white women socializing at labor meetings.
In May, 3,000 white men gathered in downtown East St. Louis. The roving mob began burning buildings and attacking Black people. The Illinois governor called in the National Guard to prevent further rioting and conditions eased somewhat for a few weeks.
Then on July 1, white men driving a car through a Black neighborhood began shooting into houses, stores, and a church. A group of Black men organized themselves to defend against the attackers. As they gathered, they mistook an approaching car for the same one that had earlier driven through the neighborhood and they shot and killed both men in the car, who were, in fact, police detectives sent to calm the situation.
The shooting of the detectives incensed a growing crowd of white spectators who came the next day to examine the car. The crowd grew and turned into a mob that spent the day and the following night on a spree of violence targeting Black neighborhoods of East St. Louis. Again, guardsmen were called in but various accounts suggest they joined in attacking Black people rather than stopping the violence.
The city of Atlanta, and its neighboring areas, have a long history of terrorizing the Black community. Unfortunately, like so many others, the story of Lake Lanier has been buried, stolen and drowned under lengths of anguish and agony. In 1912, White residents orchestrated a campaign of terror to drive almost all of Forsyth’s 1,098 Black residents out of the county. They were forced to leave in a matter of weeks, whether they were wealthy or poor, educated or illiterate. Everything was destroyed and stolen, from farms to tombstones, by marauding locals. The burnt remains of homes and churches vanished into the weeds until all of Forsyth was forgotten.
The townspeople of Oscarville were able to create and live in a thriving community, but soon a spark of events led to its demise. A young, White woman known as Ellen Grice stated that two Black men tried to rape her on September 5th, 1912, and the Sheriff apprehended five Black men for the supposed assault. Grant Smith, a prominent Black pastor, urged the Sheriff to let them go. He argued that there was not enough evidence to convict all five persons of assault. Many White residents were horrified by his claims, and an enraged mob attacked and horse-whipped the preacher on the courthouse steps, nearly killing him.
Another White woman, Mae Crow, was raped and abused in Forsyth a week later, on September 12th, 1912. Ernest Knox, a 16-year-old Black boy, was arrested at his home and then forced to a simulated lynching, which prompted him to confess to the incident. A lynch mob erupted in front of the jailhouse almost immediately. The following day, four more Black men were apprehended and placed into custody, all of which were suspected of being accomplices to the 16-year-old. Soon after, another enraged crowd of almost 2,000 White citizens invaded the county jail, murdering one of the alleged suspects. His body was hauled from the jailhouse and hung from a telephone pole in the town square by the mob.
Ernest Knox and one of the other Black men, Oscar Daniel were reported guilty of raping Mae Crow. They were (illegally) sentenced to death by hanging in violation of the law. 8,000 White residents gathered in the town square to witness two teenage boys being publicly hanged for a crime they never had the chance to defend.
Black Residents Murdered and Driven Out
Fear would progress after this event, as a White terrorist group known as the “Night Riders” made it their duty to run every Black person they came across out of town. Black churches and Black-owned businesses were set on fire by the “Night Riders” and other White rioters. Over the course of a few years, 98 percent of the city’s Black population were either forced to flee or were murdered for refusing to move. More than 1,100 Black people would lose their jobs, and Oscarville and Forsyth County’s formerly thriving Black population would vanish.
Pieces of the land were sold to the government over time, and by 1950, a plan to develop Lake Lanier was up and running. The resulting reservoir was named to honor Sidney Lanier, a White Confederate. Oscarville was now completely submerged underwater.
I used to think Scott Adams was overreacting, but then I saw more stories like these and heard testimonials from whites who went to majority black schools and, yeah...

I had my chance once and was selected. The black kid sitting next to me during jury interviews said the dude on trial was never gonna get a fair trial because of our racist justice system. He got booted from the pool. Then they sent all who were selected to a room for about two hours only to discover, there would be no trial cuz the guy pled guilty so I was denied my chance and sent home. I’ll give you two guesses as to the race of the offender.
