  • Best Penang Street Food - Awesome Penang Food Trail - Kimberley Street & Chulia Street | Malaysia
Penang is a food haven popular with Singaporeans. Join me on this awesome street food trail at Kimberley and Chulia Streets in Georgetown. For older folks, this will be a walk down memory lane when Singapore had hawkers on the streets in the 1960s and 1970s.
Penang Lok Lok is a unique dining experience. Customers stand around the stall, dip the various skewered food into boiling water, and eat while standing on the street.

Georgetown Penang.......reminds me of my childhood in S'pore.....I love the authenticity of it all. From the street hawkers to the old shophouses, and the heritage district . Malaysia is a Soulful country, every state has its beauty. Not forgetting the beautiful people and cultures.

Georgetown is indeed a beautiful sleepy town. I love the laid back ambience, the food and the heritage places. Thanks for you comment.

Many of the food here are available in Singapore, but the tastes are different. And these are at one third the price of what we get in Singapore, due to exchange rate difference. It was a good trip and I'm glad that you like this video.

You have made me hungry again! Yes, I remember the Singapore street hawkers when I first visited in 1972. How fast the years have gone by!

    • @SingaporeCityWalks

In those days, we had some very famous hawkers places. You might have visited some of these - Stamford Road, behind Capitol Cinema, Singapore River, Princess Elizabeth Walk etc. There were also lots of individual street hawkers everywhere. I became hungry too when I was editing this video.

@@rommelflores2618 In JB, the food in the malls are good. Not those on the street. Singaporeans go there for cheap food, top up petrol and marketing. However, the causeway traffic jams are notorious and is a deterrent.

15:03 Wan Than Mee is legendary, you should try, Singapore City Walks. But be forewarned, you also need legendary patience while ordering

I tried Wan Tan Mee at 2 different places. Theirs used more dark sauce. I prefer Singapore's version after tasting Penang's. Yes, we need patience. Despite having many customers, the person serving will locate you and deliver the correct meal without fail.

This is called 'Popiah', a kind of big spring roll. You can google it to find out more. This Penang version has thick popiah skin. Singapore's version has thinner popiah skin.
