  • In this video, I'm going to be embarking on my journey to weave through the 600+ 4-shaft weaving drafts found in Anne Dixon's Handweaver's Pattern Directory using my rigid heddle loom!
I'll be talking about why I decided to start this project, the looms, and the tools I'm using the sett.

When I weave complicated weaving on my rigid heddle loom, my weaving guild members ask me why. I tell them because I can. LOL I also have a Beka - 24"...since 1991. Weave On! I have 9 heddles - three of each so that I can weave 4-shaft weaves with three heddles at once.

Ooohhh! I'm sooo looking forward to seeing how these turn out. My rigid heddle is currently warped for double weaving a blanket, but I'm definitely going to try this next!

Hi Amy, I'm really interested in this technique but I don't understand why heddle 3 comes before heddle 2. I need to watch more of your videos to hopefully understand this. Thank you!

I'm new to weaving and watch alot of your vidéos. I made 2 looms (wood and 3d printing) and I have the same book but I don't understand how to use this book. For example: on page 31 the first wrap is it on the shaft 4 or 1? And for the weft ( the green and red example) the first weft is it the red at the bottom or the green at the top? I live in Québec and I buy my cotton at Maurice Brassard and I don't know witch size to buy, is she pass 3 threads of 2/16 in each heddle? . If I want to weave a placemat witch size of thread should I buy? Sorry for my English?

Hi Michou! Welcome to weaving! And how cool is that that you made two looms?!?!? This book is kinda like a stitch directory for knit or crochet. As I work thought it, I'll be explaining some of the parts of the book as we go. May do a video on the overview at some point. I don't have the book with me, and if I don't answer you now I may not get back to you for a while. But as far as I remember, all of the warps start on shaft 1. I don't remember seeing any exceptions but if there is I'll update my answer ;-) The pattern is read from bottom to top (in America we go from top to bottom but the other way makes more sense.) Lucky you! I need to order some cotton from them when they open ;-) For simplicity, I would just get the 2/16 or 16/2 (same thing) and triple it in the warp and weft. I haven't done this enough to start substituting things, yet ;-) You could possibly do a larger size but I don't know which size off the top of my head. I want to say 8/4 but don't hold me to it! Hope this helps!

THANK YOU. I shifted from glass to textiles after a wreck. Then loading a loom became so painful I stopped, and sold my 8 shaft to fund a service dog. But I love weaving. I have come back to a rigid heddle and a saori loom again. But the way you thread looks so body friendly. My little heart is so happy right now.

Hi Amy, I was setting up to follow your hybrid warping videos, when I found this new adventure you plan to take. Thank you very much for sharing. I'm about a year into weaving, coming from a knitting & sewing background. Weaving seems the natural merger of the two. You're inspiring me to keep exploring, experimenting, and having fun.
