They would just have been made in the past without instructions. Every chair is individual and crafted around the shape/size of each piece of driftwood.
@@AlisonRendall Thanks for the info. I live on the Great Lakes in Canada so I have access to drift wood. I guess we will have to become a little imaginative and design our own chairs. a
Folk long ago were so practical in using whatever came to hand, and good at making them fit for purpose. Even though they may start out a bit rough and ready long use seems to smooth the rough edges and make them special . Thank you for sharing this.
Love thinking about that wood drifting ashore, smoothed by the water, valued by the finder. I imagine that trees/bushes are rather scrubby - also because of the wind! I saw you had snow in the past day or so - thanks for this video. I hope that someday I will be able to see your special place in person.
Lovely chairs for knitting!
Thank you for this information.
Beautiful, thank you
Thank you for the wonderful video. Has anyone collected and published instructions or plans to help a woodworker make these chairs?

I agree, folk were using and reusing everything long before recycling became a term. thankyou:)

Yes, the trees tend to be stunted especially on the side of the prevailing wind. I hope you manage to visit one day :)
Yes! I’d love plans for a well designed makkin’ chair. I really like the chair you are using because of keeping out ant drafts.
Yes, a good maakin chair is essential, especially a draft proof one:)
How are the chairs put together? Dowels, glue?
What island do you live on? I love that spinning wheel! Are those still made?
I live in Shetland, the spinning wheel is old, I'm not sure they're made like this now.
