    It's harder to play defense now too. Hand-checking aside thereve been an ass load of rule-changes to help points get put on the board. Get rid of the gather step & defensive 3sec (which doesn't really get called like that rn). Also call out ALL these damn moving screens!

    Another sign of the league being more focused on scoring is them changing the shot clock being reset to 14 secs off of an offensive rebound vs 24 secs like it used to be. The league is definitely more high paced and scoring focused.

  • @ozonespec
    @ozonespec Рік тому +17

    The problem is KD and Steph don't score when the team needs them to score. When they were younger they made game changing scoring efforts when their team was down. Nowadays their scoring just flows with the game whether the team is up or down. Lebron is tops in the league in 4th quarter scoring, but by the time He tries to bring His team back, they're already down big.

    The game is just too easy to score and put up numbers now. There's 20 guys in the league averaging 25ppg, that's just totally ridiculous so putting up these numbers later in their careers isn't as impressive in today's game. When MJ was putting up numbers at an older age it was harder then though they weren't as high as they used to be.

    • @michaeljohnson7945
      @michaeljohnson7945 Рік тому +1

      @@adh2298 That's not a knock against LeBron James; it's just a reflection of how easy it is to score in the NBA. In 2021-22, James averaged 30.3 points per game, the second-highest of his career. In 2022-23, James' 28.9 ppg was the fifth highest of his career. Kevin Durant's current average of 29.9 ppg is higher than all of his other averages except for 2009-10 (scoring title) and 2013-14 (MVP season, scoring title).
      There are 44 players in today's NBA averaging at least 20 points per game, and that's not including players who have not played enough games to qualify currently among the league leaders (Charlotte's LaMelo Ball, Terry Rozier and Miles Bridges; Dallas' Kyrie Irving; Detroit's Bojan Bogdanović). One out of every eight players in the NBA is averaging 20 points per game, which is a good indicator it's too easy to score in the NBA if you have some offensive ability.

    • @itshiho
      @itshiho Рік тому +5

      @@adh2298 Yeah and he's not even close to the top 10 lol. If everyone else is putting up numbers than what you're doing isn't special or unique. The fact that these guys put up higher numbers now in less minutes played per game is all you need to know. The current LeBron wouldn't be averaging 25ppg in year 21 if this was the NBA10-20 years ago. All the rule changes to soften up the game and make it easier have helped him maintain his stats, just like KD has been putting up better numbers in recent years than he did in OKC in years 15-17 despite a major injury.

    As a 27 year old NBA nut from India who grew up on these guys, idk why this is a problem. They are all playing beyond their years and two of the three just got championships in recent memory. LeBron was in the Western conference finals last year. I'm glad I can still turn on league pass and still watch guys I grew up watching kill the league. Why do they have to win a championship? I mean it's cool as hell seeing these guys still ball out but the next gen are the real championship contenders. I'm not sure why this is considered a bad thing for the older guys. No late 80s and very few early 90s (only shaq comes to mind) superstars were doing this in the early to mid 2000s (to a degree malone, stockton, mj, robinson, but none were on this level), so why are we dogging these guys now?

Than Kerr went back to the rotation warriors were losing with. Its kind of the same reason Wemby has looked bad this season when ots due to Pop not playing the PG who knows how to get Wemby good looks he can score with and look good withcause defensively Wemby has looked great but on offence you rarely see himale the expected impact like we see with Ched

Someone gets a rebound, there's an outlet pass to one of the many guys not playing defense and lining themselves up on the 3-point line on the other end of the court and often even when a layup is wide open they jack up a 3, maybe get that offensive rebound, and if the defense has caught up it gets passed out for another 3 point attempt. This sums up like 80% of the game.

    The answer is soo obvious.. Their impact from scoring is diminished not because of them individually but because games have higher scores now. If the league average is around 130, 30 points is slightly under a 1/4 of points needed to win a game. Back in the day 80-90 points would win you a game and 70-80 before that. 30 points is close to half at that point.. The game has changed into a more team reliant aspect which really makes it seem like stars don’t have a good enough impact. It’s not really them but it’s more of a teams fault now than it’s ever been before..

      2. We’ve seen era’s like this before last 10 years average is around 108 PPG late 70’s through early 90’s have been in that same 105-110 range
      3. The highest PPG seasons we’ve ever had were actually in the 60’s. There are 4 seasons in the 1960’s where the scoring’s been even higher than it is now.

    Look at roster construction from the 80s to the mid 2000s. It went from positions, having a primary scorer, a rebounder, a defender and an assist man. You might have a "specialist" that excelled at one particular thing, and a sixth man. Everyone else was a goon/enforcer that would come in a clobber folks for 6 fouls, or a guy could give the star a break for 5 minutes. That's over now. Everyone on the team from top down can get you points. The pace of play and the three has negated defense. Wembanyama has 7 blocks and it doesn't even affect the possession count. There's just no way to play defense with 5 guys that can shoot.

    Corrections: hand-checking don't help you staying infront if your legs don't move. More posessions and astronomically better distance shooting (which also streches the floor) is making scoring volume higher and scoring easier. Also major factor that no team is spending 23s pushing through traffic in low-post (which keeps the scoring low). And ofc nowadays you can't stop the game all the time by 'take fouls', cause you actually get penalized for that.

He did a sign and trade to Brooklyn which ultimately helped the warriors get Andrew Wiggins and win another title but Brooklyn loses resources. Then they lose more trading for Harden. KD shouldn’t have to waste his time on teams that aren’t committed to winning. His interest in joining the Harlem Globetrotters is the right move. Their record is 17,673-0. He wouldn’t even have to worry about losing to the Washington Generals.

    The warriors def need to and are probably gonna get rid of draymond. if no one has noticed they have literally been playing rejuvenated and like a weight is lifted on their shoulders since draymond went out on suspension. they are actually a better TEAM without draymond
