The torch has been passed. This kid has more talent than that other guy. He carries the spirit of the music we all love, not just trying to make a million, or attach a tag to his name. Genuine musical soul, just like Jerry.
John and Billy are both incredible talents. One is a flat picking virtuoso and one is a blues virtuoso. They can’t be compared. Appreciating one doesn’t have to be a knock on the other.
neither is john mayer and making that statement is ignorant. Mayer was very successful on his own and doesn’t need The Dead to make him more famous. Keep those ears turned off everyone else disagrees

I'm thrilled that Billy Strings' talent is being recognized and that he's got his own music, his own band, and his own career. I'm sure he loves GD music, and will continue to incorporate it in his sets and collaborate with GD-related musicians. But man...if D&Co dropped a certain guitarist and brought this guy in...and let Strings and Otiel sing the Garcia songs and Weir stuck to singing Weir...I'd be back.
Ok! I probably will stir things up. Billy is becoming a master musician. I been a fan for years! He has the talent and spirit. That very few have. But! Please!!! He is not Jerry Garcia. He is Billy Strings. I wish so many would stop comparing both. Almost feels like Bob has now jumped on the bandwagon! Sorry everyone! Just expressing my feelings. Ps. I even had a chance to talk with Jerry once. Before a New Years Eve show. And played in some special bands. So my feelings go deep with a lot of experience. " Your All Great " Peace!
I will lay it as it is whenever Billy and his band perform I wait hoping he plays a Dead Tune then so disappointed when he does not I look back at set list and say no Dead tune...
