      Yes, we are aware that most people don't agree with hunting in general, but we also understand that this is due to misinformation. If everyone could see the positive affect to wildlife as a whole, they will all support it or at least help us find an alternate method to fund conservation.

    For those who would say just move or care for the animals in some other way, remember, we in the USA "care" for over 45,000 wild mustangs in BLM holding facilities at ridiculous cost annually to the tax paying. I'm a professional horse trainer and love horses, but to elevate this particular animal to a non-kill status, at this cost, is ludicrous. The cost of holding horses in these BLM facilities is over $50 million per year. This is in an insane misuse of our tax dollars as so many things are. Managed hunting and even slaughter for hungry people around, the world would be a far more sensible option. Ethical, well managed hunting is a wonderful and useful tool for proper wildlife management. Well done on this hunt. I loved it.

    • @AfricanSunProductions
      @AfricanSunProductions  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you Caroline, this put everything in perspective. In Africa we don't have the government money (our own tax money) to use for conservation. Nobody takes care of these animals like hunters do.

      English isn't my native language either, but I learned how to use it properly, just like we learned how to protect our wildlife. I am stupid in many things, that is true, but I can see the positive change that controlled hunting has on wildlife numbers, and I've seen what happens to wildlife when their habitat is taken over by villagers and cattle. It's extremely sad to see them all being wiped out.
      You didn't answer my other question: How many African animals do you care for on your property today? If the answer is 0, then you should get a few, take care of them and only then your opinion will matter.

    Just my 2 cents. The tags for these animals are many thousands of dollars. I think a lion is around 30k. That money often goes directly to conservation of the species hunted. No animals, no big money tags after all. Yes some animals die, but over all the species is supposed to benefit.

    • @AfricanSunProductions
      @AfricanSunProductions  4 місяці тому +2

      You are correct. Sustainable utilization is the backbone of conservation here in Africa. Without hunting we'll lose 75% of our wildlife in a few years. Yes, there are a few outfitters that don't follow the rules and are in it only for the money, but the majority have a positive effect on wildlife as a whole.

    After school I worked in Namibia on a hunting farm and since I am a conservationist and hunter myself I’ll try to awnser the question why this kind of hunting PROTECTS and does not aid in the decimation of the animals:
    Try to imagine the country in sections where animals and people (Agrar culture etc) live together. The government has scientists work out how many animals of each species are making up a healthy and sustainable population. The number can vary from section to section because of different factors. For example: per Hektar of land in section A, four lions make a healthy sustainable population. Now imagine there are more than the 4 there, the population starts to get sicknesses or gets weak because of malnutrition etc. The government is now giving away permits for two lions to professional hunters who themselves pay for the permit. They now can take that permit and sell it to a client. The client pays a lot of money for taking one of these two LEGAL creatures. The money that is generated helps so the professional hunter can pay the locals to work for him, he pays for anti poaching AND conservation efforts in order to have a healthy population for the next season.
    So in short: the hunting of a few creatures helps to pay for the conservation of the entire species. It’s not perfect but as long as the animals have a financial worth they will be protected. Otherwise the animals will be hunted without any control with old AKs, snares, traps and poison till there doom. Maybe this helps with the explanation a little. Regards

    • @AfricanSunProductions
      @AfricanSunProductions  Рік тому +11

      It's a good question. If the hunt is done legally and part of a conservation program then it actually help the population as a whole. The main reason for the decline in all wildlife is habitat loss. Villages are started where once was wildlife. The first thing they remove are all predators, this is to safeguard their cattle. Although human expansion is needed, it's still very sad that these habitats are lost.

      Truly majestic, I agree. I do believe some hunters will be able to hunt like in the old days, but I don't think we should. Tribal hunting is very cruel. The animal suffered much more than was needed. With modern weapons they die very quickly, much less pain and stress. The reasons for hunting also changed. Back then it was mostly for survival of humans, now it is for survival of animals. We cannot afford to protect our land, habitat and wildlife with other methods of income. Only with funds generated by foreign hunters can we give our wildlife a safe place to live and breed. The sacrifice of a few animals protect thousands of others.

      Good day Andy. It's a legit question, thanks for asking. I wish I had a more definitive answer on this specific lion but I don't. I arrive and film, don't have all the info. I do know that sometimes it's a numbers thing, sometimes a non-breeding animals that can be replaced by a breeding one, new genetics etc. Sometimes it's just a lion that isn't in a pride, doesn't matter about the condition.
      In most countries there is an age limit of 5 years. Any younger than that isn't allowed to be shot. Sometimes you get problem animal permits for a cattle killer, but that doesn't happen in South Africa.

      Thank you. It does answer the question, there are many factors at play when deciding what to shoot and when. Sustainably, ethical and number and age all come into play. Overall just like the Elephants, the Lion population worldwide is small but not so in our countries. It would be great if the American, Asian, European countries took some of them and placed them into their wild habitats , but all that they do is talk and complain but not help. The Legal Hunters and hunting practices are the only way to do it right now. Beef and other raw materials that is imported out of Africa is possible because We try to keep balance in the wildlife population, domestic population and the human population through CONSERVATION. In many areas photographic safaris are successful, but in most it doesn't work. In SA we have only three national parks that show a profit and can therefore afford anti-poaching units. Compare this to hundreds of privately owned reserves that can afford to protect thousands of animals by hunting a selected few.

      Pra gerar renda pra conservação,quanto você acha que esse leão e leoas geraram em imposto pra conservação de parques nacionais e pagar equipamento e equipes anti caça ilegal em toda a África,ou você acha que o dinheiro investido nisso vem do céu? Ou que a população carente paga do bolso por isso. Um leão tem VALOR nos países africanos custa por baixo 150 mil reais,sua caça gera emprego e renda pras comunidades locais,sua caça impede que o conflito entre humanos e animais saia do controle (ou você acha que as comunidades locais gostam de ter animais potencialmente perigosos a solta),agora olha o caso do Brasil,quer saber quanto custa uma onça no Brasil? Zero reais pra caçar e uma tonelada de prejuízo se atacar um rebanho de gado ou novilhos,governo nenhum vai proteger a onça e nem dar compensação ao fazendeiro (conflito entre humano e animal). Agora quer saber quanto uma onça valeria em um sistema de caça legalizada? Facilmente 140 mil reais e até mais,deixaria de ser prejuízo e se tornaria NEGÓCIO, o fazendeiro criaria animais pra onça comer e protegeria a vegetação natural do terreno (ao invés de derrubar tudo pra plantar soja) para a onça viver.
      Agora o que te levou a dizer que as pessoas que participaram desse vídeo não são homens eu realmente não sei,qual sua definição de homem? Porque quem está agindo como criança é você assistindo um vídeo de caça e ofendendo os envolvidos baseado em absolutamente nada fora idealismo barato e burro,ou já leu sobre o tema da caça legalizada e como ela ajudou na conservação de inúmeras espécies em todos continentes.

    Can someone please tell me how hunting lions is part of conservation? I mean I know some African countries have well regulations like in Namibia and protected areas such as national parks. • @AfricanSunProductions
      @AfricanSunProductions  Рік тому +3

      Thank you for asking. Hunting of this type of species is highly controlled and it offers multiple benefits to the species as a whole. These hunts generate a lot of funding that goes directly into protection of the land and habitat where thousands of animals live. The funds also go to employment of anti-poaching teams. Usually the animals to hunt are selected as to not damage the current population and make space for new genes to come in the the area.

I’m also concerned about leopards with them suffering from more threats than lions such as human wildlife conflict and poorly managed trophy hunting in certain areas. Good day Joseph. Unfortunately I do not have much information on Leopard specific conservation efforts, I will do some research though.
      Human wildlife conflict is one of the main reasons wildlife numbers in general are declining. Luckily Leopard can adjust better than most other species but poisoning and poaching with dogs are the main threads. I agree that many hunting areas are mismanaged and doesn't help much to protect the species.
      We cannot judge all hunting outfitters by the actions of a few. One of the many reasons to have a hunt filmed is that is makes illegal activity much harder. All the outfitters I work with not only want to be legal but also want to make a positive difference to wildlife numbers.

    • @AfricanSunProductions
      @AfricanSunProductions  Рік тому +2

      Good day Russ, thanks for the comment. All the meat used in some way or form, depending on the country of the hunt. In many African countries lion meat is a delicacy. If there is a village or town close to the hunting area, most of the meat is donated there.
      The hunter can use some of the meat while he is in Africa but cannot take any meat to his home country.
      Thanks again for watching and for your comment.

      For money to save the wildlife apparently, shit f it nature survived millions of years by itself it didn't need any of you to help it but the same can say no one would stop you from hunting then, which tbh if that's the reason your doing then say so.
      Hate seeing lions getting killed or any cat

    • @AfricanSunProductions
      @AfricanSunProductions  2 роки тому

      Hi Imapls. I agree that wildlife used to be able to look after itself, but lately it's been tough. The extreme rise in human population means that Africa has less and less safe places for wildlife. Nature reserved do make a positive impact but it is very localized. Controlled hunting like this generated the needed funds to protect huge amounts of land and habitat where thousands of animals live and breed.

    • @AfricanSunProductions
      @AfricanSunProductions  Рік тому

      Un disparo en la cabeza es muy arriesgado, es necesario golpear perfectamente una determinada parte del cerebro para una muerte inmediata. Si se pierde el animal queda herido y vivirá unos días antes de morir a causa de la infección.
      Las inyecciones al corazón y los pulmones son mucho más efectivas. Los animales no recorren más de 50 metros y luego mueren. Definitivamente el tiro más humano.

    Who manufactured the rifle for the first hunter? They can design a weapon that drives 100s of grains of lead and copper at supersonic speeds but apparently haven’t been able to crack the problem of brass ejection. In my opinion these dangerous game big bore rifles should throw a case 20 feet.
    No matter how much you explain in detail how these lions are helping to provide financial support people will always get upset when they see a lion get shot at close range. Keep up the good work
