  • Lo-fi ambience to compute/calculate to. The digital environment is one of black boxes, hidden information, under-the-hood processes. Let's break those open and listen to what's inside, shall we?
Filmed in my studio in Portland, OR. Patch Notes below.
    PATCH NOTES
    Tonal Elements
Most of the audio in this piece comes from NetSon, a network traffic sonification program written in Python and Max/MSP (another video elsewhere on my channel goes in depth on how it works). Instruments in Ableton Live are triggered by packets on my home network generated by scrolling through my email. This audio is then passed through Nautilus for delay.
    Speech
Audio is autonomously generated by a RAVE neural synthesis (AI) model trained on the Voice-Cloning ToolKit (VCTK) data set and processed by Clouds. (github.com/aci...)
    Noise Textures
These sounds come from sonifications of raw binary data, mixed with live audio from the electromagnetic field generated by my laptop's processor.
    Drone
The audio from an electromagnetic pickup is used to excite Rings' input and open a low-pass gate on Loquelic Iteritas. These two are mixed and passed through the Qubit Prism for filtering and sample rate reduction.
