This very performance transformed him into a legend in China and other Asian countries. With over 600 million views on Weibo in a matter of few days. and down the Dimash rabbit hole you go in 3...2...1.... As many have said here already, you just listened to the GOAT. There has never been, and I doubt ever will be again, a singer like Dimash. He is the voice we didn't know we needed to hear. And aren't looks so so deceiving...when I watched this very clip some time back [my first DQ experience] I thought to myself no way, how is that voice coming out of that young, quite small of build, human - well [the voice part is still a mystery] he was 22 in this clip [I thought oh maybe 17] and small of stature...yeah...narh...he's 6'3" He is the cats meow and the voice, to quote another reactor, that connects earth to heaven. If music could take a human form, then it's form is Dimash - he is the full orchestra - with all it's gentle subtleties and all it's grandeur...he is the string quartet...the harp....the electric guitar...the flute..the music notes on paper.....he is each of them...he is all of them. He can sing rock, pop, R&B...he can rap [really he can], sings neo classical...can play 7 instruments really well....it's all a bit daunting really for all that in one person [and then to top it off, handsome in an ethereal classical sense - like the movie stars of old]. His ability to sing in another language that is foreign to him is gobsmacking - especially what are [IMHO] the 2 hardest to master - English and Mandarin [many scoff that English isn't hard - oh yes it is]. His ability to be able to sit or kneel and belt in his head voice and beyond is neigh impossible - should be impossible - but again and again, Dimash shows what was impossible is indeed possible. I would suggest "Opera 2" and "Be with Me" the official MV, to see his Playful side (Dimash is a BEAST and can act as well. Think Jackie Chan meets 007 in "Be with me") Also, "Confessa/Diva Dance" (which is from the movie "The 5th element" The blue Alien sings this, it was created in studio for the movie with the opera singer recording in different parts, so to make it IMPOSSIBLE for a human voice to achieve) UNTIL Dimash! The next song on the show is opera 2, which it’s epic but in my personal opinion it’s just pipped by olimpico ogni pietra which is a rock/opera written esp for Dimash by a famous Russian composer, who came out of retirement when he heard Dimash to write songs for him. No one else could sing olimpico, no one, in fact if you can tell me someone who could sing this song I’d be eternally grateful but you won’t. Dimash has a 7/8 octave range, he sings in 15 languages, he plays multiple instruments and is the loveliest most humble young man on earth. He sings from rap to opera too. He is born in May 24 1994. He is from Kazakhstan and has been music schooled sense 5 years old and told the teacher that the piano was out of tune! He sings about 7 octaves or so! No one knows he is still learning. He sings higher than the piano can go! He also writs and compose own songs, plays bunch of instruments including Dombra there own Kazakh instrument that has a sound you can’t believe and onley 2 strings! He also sings in about 13 languages and speaks 3 so far (Kazakh,Russian and English). Dimash has an excellent education: he graduated from the College of Music with a degree in Opera Singing, university of arts in the specialty "Estrada and jazz vocals", and on June 18, 2020, he completed a master's degree in Composition. He graduated with a degree in opera from the music school at the University of Aktobe (2014), a degree in pop/jazz from the National Arts University in Nur Sultan (2018), just completed his Master's degree in composition (June 2020) and have started his PhD. He have done some contests in his life but the one I think got the worlds intension is "The Singer" (Allso called "I am a singer" or "Singer") from China in 2017. The Singer is a program for established Chinese singers to face off against each other invites only in a competition where votes were cast by an audience of 500. Dimash Qudaibergen was a last-minute inclusion (a 'dark horse'). But his performance of 'SOS D'un Terrien En Detresse' electrified the audience, his fellow competitors and the viewers who numbered in the billions (this program was one of the most-watched in China and outside). They also got him the nickname "Imported little brother" the day after the show. They also had to get bodyguard for Dimash do to the famous over night both in China and also the world. Dimash wasn’t really prepared for that. He had come to China at 22 years young man by him self and didn’t know the language. They hade contracted him for 2 shows because they didn’t think he cold go further than that. He didn’t think they would like him. So he was nervous this performers that he had also to start the show with. But they hade to change that do to his famous over night. Dimash got many new friends from this show and he said at some point he learned a lot from it to. You just witnessed the greatest vocalist alive. He’s from Kazakhstan, sings in 15 different languages, plays multiple musical instruments and is currently working on his PhD in music. He’s been training since the age of 5, has a 6-8 octave range (depending on who you ask) has absolute pitch, and is an amazingly humble man. Yes, Dimash has some opera background. He began training when he was about five years old and has had both classical and contemporary training. He had been offered a position as a tenor with an opera house, but chose to pursue a combined style mostly referred to as popera. The Singer , it was a Chinese show for highly respected singers to compete, Dimash was the only non Chinese singer invited because the producer saw him perform for the Chinese and Kazakh presidents and was very impressed. He is from Kazakhstan and was the youngest ever competitor in 2017 at only 22 years old. This was his first performance on the show and the audience went wild for him. When the show was broadcast on tv he had to have bodyguards for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China. He is now a world class artist, will turned 28 on the 24th of May but touring the world to sell out arenas with his solo concerts, he also performs in concerts with the famous Russian composer Igor Krutoy, is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses. He is university trained in Classical opera vocals to degree level, also holds a degree in contemporary pop music and jazz with a major in vocals, and now has finished his master degree in music composition. Generally only accomplished Chinese singers could participate. But Dimash had won several contests in Kazakhstan, and was invited to compete as a wild card. No one had any idea who he was, and as it was his first performance, the audience was advised in advance by the producers to applaud and give him a warm welcome to the stage. By the end of the song, they were applauding and cheering for real. He took first place for that night's competition. This very performance transformed him into a legend in China and other Asian countries. With over 600 million views on Weibo in a matter of few days. Dimash is now very popular in Asia, East Europe, and he has a huge fan base worldwide, including a very active fandom in Latin America. He was trained in classical and contemporary singing techniques, he started at 5 years old, continuing to study to these days academically also in composition and musicology. That's how it all started: In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home.
Despite Dimash's planned brief presence, his name was intended to be symbolic and understandable to the public. Dimash was given the Chinese name Dimashi and the 3 syllables were assigned in Chinese characters: ⭐Di - achievement ⭐Ma - precious stone ⭐Shi - dream, wish.
This competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to UA-cam ... and so we became Dimash's Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. won).

and down the Dimash rabbit hole you go in 3...2...1.... As many have said here already, you just listened to the GOAT. There has never been, and I doubt ever will be again, a singer like Dimash. He is the voice we didn't know we needed to hear. And aren't looks so so deceiving...when I watched this very clip some time back [my first DQ experience] I thought to myself no way, how is that voice coming out of that young, quite small of build, human - well [the voice part is still a mystery] he was 22 in this clip [I thought oh maybe 17] and small of stature...yeah...narh...he's 6'3" He is the cats meow and the voice, to quote another reactor, that connects earth to heaven. If music could take a human form, then it's form is Dimash - he is the full orchestra - with all it's gentle subtleties and all it's grandeur...he is the string quartet...the harp....the electric guitar...the flute..the music notes on paper.....he is each of them...he is all of them. He can sing rock, pop, R&B...he can rap [really he can], sings neo classical...can play 7 instruments really well....it's all a bit daunting really for all that in one person [and then to top it off, handsome in an ethereal classical sense - like the movie stars of old]. His ability to sing in another language that is foreign to him is gobsmacking - especially what are [IMHO] the 2 hardest to master - English and Mandarin [many scoff that English isn't hard - oh yes it is]. His ability to be able to sit or kneel and belt in his head voice and beyond is neigh impossible - should be impossible - but again and again, Dimash shows what was impossible is indeed possible. From one reactor to another, you are in for a major treat going forward! This was my first intro to Dimash last year and I am HOOKED! The fans are incredibly loyal and will never lead you astray. I would suggest "Opera 2" and "Be with Me" the official MV, to see his Playful side (Dimash is a BEAST and can act as well. Think Jackie Chan meets 007 in "Be with me") Also, "Confessa/Diva Dance" (which is from the movie "The 5th element" The blue Alien sings this, it was created in studio for the movie with the opera singer recording in different parts, so to make it IMPOSSIBLE for a human voice to achieve) UNTIL Dimash! Also, "Stranger" "Golden" official MV. In this order, is best IMO. But there is so much more! Welcome to the Dimash rabbit hole. Hello from England. You’ve seen nothing yet Dimash is only warming up with this song. The next song on the show is opera 2, which it’s epic but in my personal opinion it’s just pipped by olimpico ogni pietra which is a rock/opera written esp for Dimash by a famous Russian composer, who came out of retirement when he heard Dimash to write songs for him. No one else could sing olimpico, no one, in fact if you can tell me someone who could sing this song I’d be eternally grateful but you won’t. Dimash has a 7/8 octave range, he sings in 15 languages, he plays multiple instruments and is the loveliest most humble young man on earth. He sings from rap to opera too. He treats us Dears like gold, he calls his fans his Dears cause we’re always close to his heart and he means it, in return us Dears are very loyal to Dimash and are loyal and support reactors who regularly react to him

It's so fun for us "Dears" (that’s what Dimash calls his fans because he loves us as a dear family) to see how people react to him.
Some info about Dimash. He is born in May 24 1994. He is from Kazakhstan and has been music schooled sense 5 years old and told the teacher that the piano was out of tune! He sings about 7 octaves or so! No one knows he is still learning. He sings higher than the piano can go! He also writs and compose own songs, plays bunch of instruments including Dombra there own Kazakh instrument that has a sound you can’t believe and onley 2 strings! He also sings in about 13 languages and speaks 3 so far (Kazakh,Russian and English).
Dimash has an excellent education: he graduated from the College of Music with a degree in Opera Singing, university of arts in the specialty "Estrada and jazz vocals", and on June 18, 2020, he completed a master's degree in Composition. He graduated with a degree in opera from the music school at the University of Aktobe (2014), a degree in pop/jazz from the National Arts University in Nur Sultan (2018), just completed his Master's degree in composition (June 2020) and have started his PhD.
He have done some contests in his life but the one I think got the worlds intension is "The Singer" (Allso called "I am a singer" or "Singer") from China in 2017. The Singer is a program for established Chinese singers to face off against each other invites only in a competition where votes were cast by an audience of 500.
Dimash Qudaibergen was a last-minute inclusion (a 'dark horse'). But his performance of 'SOS D'un Terrien En Detresse' electrified the audience, his fellow competitors and the viewers who numbered in the billions (this program was one of the most-watched in China and outside).
They also got him the nickname "Imported little brother" the day after the show. They also had to get bodyguard for Dimash do to the famous over night both in China and also the world. Dimash wasn’t really prepared for that. He had come to China at 22 years young man by him self and didn’t know the language. They hade contracted him for 2 shows because they didn’t think he cold go further than that. He didn’t think they would like him. So he was nervous this performers that he had also to start the show with. But they hade to change that do to his famous over night.
Dimash got many new friends from this show and he said at some point he learned a lot from it to.

The best moment in this show was just after Dimash started thanking everyone and saw his father there. He didn’t know he was there. Just after they got out of that room Dimash turns to his father and asks if he did good! When Dimash was gonna go in to the other contestants he again turned to his father and asked him if he done good! That’s the kind of man he is humble, loving and respectful.

Gloria Wu's channel has the back-story about the song that is so sad and from a life story about a boy losing his parents in an awful way. Also you get to hear how Dimash sounds like then loosing his voice the day of the show!!! When he went on he didn’t know if he could sing. Looking close at the other contestants they where so worried about him. He lost his voice again after. Li Jian another contestant bought him a very very expensive Chinese medication for him so he could get better soon!

Episode 10 : 'Unforgettable Day' In Kazakh and I think some translation in Chinese to. If I remember correct he wrote the music to this one when he was 19 years old and lyrics by Oral-kosai Baisengir, who was a poet/lyricist father of a friend of Dimash. Also in this show another contestant "Terry Lin" that was about 51 years young here he considered Dimash a dear friend at this point. But Dimash started telling them al he was his father around episode 9 I think!! That is a big respect and love from his part of the world to call him! Terry was gladly accepting it. They are still that close and also invites each other to there concerts and sometimes singing this song in duet to. They sang it in Jackie Chang movie festival in 2019 and Jackie was choked in how good they were. Terry was known as an alien before Dimash and they have similar vocals to.

You just witnessed the greatest vocalist alive. He’s from Kazakhstan, sings in 15 different languages, plays multiple musical instruments and is currently working on his PhD in music. He’s been training since the age of 5, has a 6-8 octave range (depending on who you ask) has absolute pitch, and is an amazingly humble man. He sings every genre (even raps) He has many recent performances, but I would highly recommend "Sinful Passion “ 2018 and then "Stranger" 2021, "Ikanaide" 2021, "Adagio" 2017, "Daybreak" at Bastau 2017. Each performance will leave you stunned.

Yes, Dimash has some opera background. He began training when he was about five years old and has had both classical and contemporary training. He had been offered a position as a tenor with an opera house, but chose to pursue a combined style mostly referred to as popera. Although SOS is an admirable piece, it is just the top of the iceberg. Sinful Passion is another essential as is the more operatic Olimpico (composed for Dimash’s voice specifically.). He can sing everything: opera, rap, pop, rock, jazz, classical - anything! Welcome to the world of Dimash!

The Singer , it was a Chinese show for highly respected singers to compete, Dimash was the only non Chinese singer invited because the producer saw him perform for the Chinese and Kazakh presidents and was very impressed. He is from Kazakhstan and was the youngest ever competitor in 2017 at only 22 years old. This was his first performance on the show and the audience went wild for him. When the show was broadcast on tv he had to have bodyguards for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China. He is now a world class artist, will turned 28 on the 24th of May but touring the world to sell out arenas with his solo concerts, he also performs in concerts with the famous Russian composer Igor Krutoy, is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses. He is university trained in Classical opera vocals to degree level, also holds a degree in contemporary pop music and jazz with a major in vocals, and now has finished his master degree in music composition. He is about to finish his doctorate in Musicology.He has been having singing lessons from the age of 5 when his teacher noticed he had perfect pitch . He was offered a place at the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but respectfully turned it down to pursue his own more contemporary musical career. He is a multi instrumentalist, more than 8 instruments and also sings in 12 different languages and has a range of over 6 octaves from a low bass A2 to a high soprano, plus a whistle register with his highest note so far being a 5 second D8 with vibrato. This song from Dimash is the first in the 14 episodes of the Chinese competition The Singer 2017. I believe he was the first foreign competitor to take part in the competition. The other competitors were accomplished Chinese singers. Dimash came second behind Sandy Lam, with Lion Band in third place. There was a great camaraderie between the contestants and Dimash became great friends with a number of them, especially Terry Lin. The other artist are well worth checking out.

Generally only accomplished Chinese singers could participate. But Dimash had won several contests in Kazakhstan, and was invited to compete as a wild card. No one had any idea who he was, and as it was his first performance, the audience was advised in advance by the producers to applaud and give him a warm welcome to the stage. By the end of the song, they were applauding and cheering for real. He took first place for that night's competition.
