Stranger
Dimash was a wildcard in this show. He was the youngest artist and the other seasoned contestants did not know what to expect. He basically shocked not only the audience and the other performers but China went nuts for this phenomenal performance. He got up the next day as a “super star” who needed body guards. Those of us who love his vocal skills, his heart, humility and his humanity, listen and enjoy everything he shares with us. I hope you continue to listen to his music.

His range is about 7 octaves and 2 semitons ! His extreme vocals are A1 and D8 (the last one if off a concert piano) ! Basically a castrato is a soprano !

To be invited to The Singer you had to be a professional singer for at least 10 years. He was the youngest person to appear at 23 years old. He came in 2nd because they had a rule that you had to be Chinese in order to win (they changed the rule right after this). He was invited on as a wild card and SOS was the first song of the first show. No one really knew him there and they thought he would be eliminated quickly. So first show, first song-next day they had body guards for Dimash because he became wildly popular after that. (The poor girl in the hallway clapping was the one that had to follow him.) See SOS in Dimash's Digital show with CC for a whole new appreciation. Stranger has his low range showcased. Be with you has a Michael Jackson feel with him rapping in Kazak in the middle. (2017 Chinese "Singer" competition) Dimash has a 7-octave + 2 semi-tones range (C1 to D8, sustained...1 note OFF the piano!) He sings now in 17 different languages, and plays 7 different instruments. He "puts all his cards on the table" every time, with every performance. I've been pop music obsessed since the age of four and have been following Dimash for the past five-plus years. As I have become aware of his wide range of genres, complexity and creativity of his music, all the most important music of my life has become an afterthought. These days it's all Dimash, all the time. He's that good, and that special.

I haven’t really connected to Dimash, ONLY because the genres he sings in are not what I normally listen to. But I have to say he has one if the most I crdible voices on the planet right now. No debate on that. He can reach from baritone to high soprano range without falsetto. That’s just effing mind blowing.

What I love about Dimash, besides his incredible musical talents, is his humility and his true love for his people, his culture and for us, his dears (what he calls his fans). He does sing pop, rap (mostly in Kazakh) and hip hop, blending in his Kazakh music seamlessly. I’m so glad that, even if people don’t particularly care for his style of music they can recognize his extraordinary talent. I’m so glad he’s not a diva-type artist. He never forgets his roots and is very much connected to his family, trying to use music to bridge gaps between nations. Class act all the way. I stumbled upon a Dimash reaction 4 or 5 yrs ago - UA-cam rabbit hole.... not my type of music but it was like witnessing Michael Jordan or reading Shakespeare in University - not into Basketball or Plays - but you Immediately & innately understand you are dealing w/ a generational genius that breaks the scale rendering all comparisons pointless
And Live it's so insane words just can't do it justice - man is huge for one thing - 6'3'' big hands & feet - so this not some dainty kid.... deep voice, 100% alpha male.... He works on that stage like he's mixing concrete by hand, drenched in sweat 3.5 to 4 hours non stop & NEVER misses a single Note & his F-Sharp Mix moves thru your entire body like shockwaves - it feels like your cell structure is collapsing
Sorry this is so long fella's - I'm a retired teacher but in college I lucked into a Concert security job & b/c I'm not a douche & I had summers off I was able to travel & work countless concerts usually right by the stage & I have heard every act in the US & Western Europe you can think of over the last 30 years & I'm No expert but your ear develops over time & there is NO one I have Ever heard live who sounds like this kid..... not even close - the diff between him & everyone else is striking, actually off putting b/c it just doesnt make sense for one man to be Levels beyond every other living person in his craft
Deep rich baritone, belting in Chest ffs, Mix can knock down a building, literally sings fully supported & stable Falsetto into whistle, Perfect pitch, relentless perfect tone (sorry if I jacked up that terminology) - it's like God decided to have a laugh & poured Everything into this one kid & he added a slavish work ethic & wisdom & humility well beyond his years.....
Again please forgive me, I'm nearly 60 & I'm fanboy gushing over a 28 y/o vocalist but his talent is just that overwhelming & now I got his voice in my head all the time - last 4 yrs & I'm much for relaxed & happy lol
Dimash was 22 here in 2017, you will not believe what he sounds like today! At this time his vocal range was 6 octaves and he now has a range of 7.2 octaves.

You're right, he can go a lot lower, and somewhat higher too. But, though it's his range that he initially gained a reputation for, it's really the incredible beauty of his voice, however he uses it and in every pitch, that's exceptional. Though he performed a lot of vocal acrobatics earlier in his career, he's become a complete artist as he's matured.
The way I found to celebrate the majesty of Dimash's talent was to have written the following about him: If I were to rule the world, I would immediately add, to the universal declaration of human rights, another article (they would become 31) whose wording would next "All human beings have the right, at least once in their lives, to hear Dimash sing". I am a Professor and I believe that I have a special profession that allows me to transform the human heart and consequently the human society. I work with young people and young people need to have good references. I had been looking for someone for a long time, of whom I could speak to the young people I work with, as a good reference. That person should be young, a super talent, a super mega star in the art world and above all, because he is the most important, a good human person. I searched and never found anyone with these characteristics. Until, finally, I found this person and that person is Dimash. You have barely even begun to scratch the surface of Dimash's talent and ability. He has performed songs in 15 languages; Kazakh, Russian, English, Mandarin Chinese, Italian, French, Spanish, German, Serbian, Turkish, Sicilian, Ukrainian, Kyrgyz, Arabic, and Japanese. Besides his native Kazakh tongue, he speaks fluent Russian, which is still an official language in most former Soviet Republics. Dimash is getting pretty good with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin, which he says is a challenging language to learn. Dimash plays six instruments; the piano, dombra, guitar, xylophone, cello, and drums. He usually performs for more than two hours during live concerts and treats his audience to an eclectic mix of styles.
A good professional vocalist has a range of about 3 octaves. According to some analysts, Diamsh's range is over 7 octaves (A1-D8), spanning across all four registers. He has continued to hone his skills and to fine-tune and perfect his already unbelievable abilities even more. There does not seem to be a limit to what he can achieve vocally. I am excited to follow his journey. Dimash may go down in history as the most extraordinary vocal talent known to man. I cannot think of anyone, past or present, capable of doing what Dimash is capable of. I am still waiting on someone to name a single individual even remotely close to Dimash's mastery.

Dimash also recently released "Ikanaide,'' performed during the 2021 Tokyo Jazz Festival live stream, which is absolutely incredible. He sings in nearly flawless Japanese.
Dimash’s latest project, “The Story of One Sky,” might be his best work to date. It took him three years to write, compose and produce the song and music video. I would suggest watching the life performance fan cam footage of the song if you want to evaluate his vocal performance. The music video’s visuals and story line are so impressive and emotional that it can be overwhelming and quite difficult to focus on the vocals. Avoid any performance from "The World's Best." The show in L.A. was utterly disgraceful. The production team edited and cut all of Dimash's performances down to 2 minutes and cut out his Kazakh song for no reason.

This was a very enjoyable reaction. The song "S.O.S. (d'un Terrien en détresse)" is originally from a French-Canadian musical called 'Starmania' from the 1970s and is considered one of the most difficult French songs to perform. Dimash is from Kazakhstan. He appears here in the fifth season of Hunan Television's "I Am A Singer" competition. "I Am A Singer" is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers. The audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode. It is the same throughout the entire show; 500 with musical backgrounds judge the show by points each week.
At 22 years old, Dimash was the youngest participant in the show's history and competed against these professional and top-selling Chinese singers as a 'wildcard' competitor. The competition consists of 14 rounds, lasts almost 4 months, and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. Every performance is live, and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only. Dimash's mother later said that he hoped to reach at least the middle stage of the competition.
This was the very first episode of the competition, and Dimash had to go first because he was considered the weakest, given that he was completely unknown to the audience. After this performance, he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. Dimash won the first two episodes! He also won the 6th for his rendition of "Adagio," a song made famous by Lara Fabian.
First place overall went to the famous Chinese Sandy. Sandy's first album came out before Dimash was even born. Dimash took second place overall; however, he lost by a very narrow margin. He lost a lot of points for his performance of "Uptown Funk." Although Dimash did not win the show, he immediately became a beloved star in China.
As part of the contest, all contestants/performers are required to perform one original song they have composed. Dimash sang "Unforgettable Day," a song he wrote when he was still in his teens - it's a love song. He sang in both the original Kazakh and in Chinese even though he did not speak Chinese at the time and had to have a translator with him throughout the competition.
Here is the order of Dimash's performances for The Singer 2017. The contest lasts 14 weeks, but Dimash has only 13 performances because he had already made it into the semi-finals by week 11.

Perfect technique, crazy wide range, incredibly beautiful timbre in all vocal registers (and trust me, he has much more surprises in those technical areas than you think possible even after watching this one performance) - those are only the tools of great storytelling and transmitting of emotions, which for me is the essence of Dimash. I first watched Dimash The Singer video's in 2018 and I thought I was way behind the rest of the UA-cam world.

For opera, classical style, Olimpico, Te Amo Cosi (trio with Aida Garifulina and Lara Fabian), Ulisse duet w/Aida Garifulina, A Thousand Miles A Common Dream duet with Zhang Yingxi. Ave Maria is a classical vocalese written for Dimash's voice. Most of his songs mix classical and pop styles with musical theater, rock, world, folk, etc. Any style to fit the sound he wants where he wants it. Stranger, Ikanaide are great examples.
Coming in second was a technicality. Their rules were that a foreigner couldn't be given the prize money, a rule they changed before the next season of the show. If you add "Eng sub" to the search box after Dimash + song title, you can usually find a version that does give the English translation. He was only 22 at the time of this recording. His lower range has become much richer in the last 5+ years. A lot of reactors like to work their way through his earlier performances on "The Singer" first, but if you want to hear more of his lower register, "Olimpico" and "Stranger" are good choices, Plus he does an operatic trio with Lara Fabian and Aida Garifullina, in which he leaves the high parts to the ladies.

I’m 78 U.K. lady and have followed Dimash every day for five years since seeing this performance in 2017. We all love him too for him humanitarian personality. He is so respectful, loving, and patriotic. I’ve flown to Latvia and Dubai to see him in concert which are three hours long. He simply doesn’t want to leave the stage. He covers many genres, chats to the audience, plays musical instruments and even dances, He is mesmerising. Try Stranger next, as it is more recent and in English. But really, anything he performs is wonderful. Many will suggest Ogni Pietra, or sinful passion as a next one to listen to.
Continue with Dimash please, we will wait impatiently for your next reaction. As a suggestion if you follow this line of order would be the most optimal all his presentations in THE Singer so as not to lose the charm. Dimash is one of my favorite artists. I've been listening to him for a couple years his voice is insane. He does all kinds of styles of music and he is a very humble and kind guy. Tip of the iceberg. This was honestly a small example of what he can do. This performance was in 2017 when he was 22. Now at 28 he has only improved. Also, the number of languages he has performed in has increased to I believe 15 although he is only fluent in his native Kazakh and Russian with English becoming a very fast third with a little Mandarin thrown in. He is perhaps the most humble and appreciative artist I have ever seen. He treats his fans with extreme appreciation and kindness and is always respectful. In 2018 he performed Sinful Passion. It is in Russian but has subtitles and it is a must see. Just recently he released a masterpiece MV called The Story of One Sky. He spent three years composing it. He of course sings but is also the main actor. Get ready because you will be surprised by every single performance. One more thing... if you have ever seen The Fifth Element with Bruce Willis and enjoyed the blue alien song Diva dance which was party completed with the aid of a computer, you will really enjoy Dimash doing the Diva Dance Bastau. You will love Olimpico! You will listen a more operatic song with low and high notes. He won as the Best Classic Vocalist in Russia with this song in the Victoria Awards (kind of the Russian Grammy). And you will meet maestro Igor Krutoy who was retired until listen to Dimash. Now he composes songs especially for Dimash, like Olimpico.

It's so fun for us "Dears" (that’s what Dimash calls his fans because he loves us as a dear family) to see how people react to him.
Some info about Dimash. He is born in May 24 1994. He is from Kazakhstan and has been music schooled sense 5 years old and told the teacher that the piano was out of tune! He sings about 7 octaves or so! No one knows he is still learning. He sings higher than the piano can go! He also writs and compose own songs, plays bunch of instruments including Dombra there own Kazakh instrument that has a sound you can’t believe and onley 2 strings! He also sings in about 14 (Kazakh, Turkish, Usceck, Russian, Ukranian, Serbien, Bulgarian Chinese , Italien, Spamish, French, English, German, Japanese ) languages and speaks 3 so far (Kazakh, Russian and English).
Dimash has an excellent education: he graduated from the College of Music with a degree in Opera Singing, university of arts in the specialty "Estrada and jazz vocals", and on June 18, 2020, he completed a master's degree in Composition. He graduated with a degree in opera from the music school at the University of Aktobe (2014), a degree in pop/jazz from the National Arts University in Nur Sultan (2018), just completed his Master's degree in composition (June 2020) and have started his PhD.
He have done some contests in his life but the one I think got the worlds intension is "The Singer" (Allso called "I am a singer" or "Singer") from China in 2017. The Singer is a program for established Chinese singers to face off against each other invites only in a competition where votes were cast by an audience of 500.
Dimash Qudaibergen was a last-minute inclusion (a 'dark horse'). But his performance of 'SOS D'un Terrien En Detresse' electrified the audience, his fellow competitors and the viewers who numbered in the billions (this program was one of the most-watched in China and outside).
They also got him the nickname "Imported little brother" the day after the show. They also had to get bodyguard for Dimash do to the famous over night both in China and also the world. Dimash wasn’t really prepared for that. He had come to China at 22 years young man by him self and didn’t know the language. They hade contracted him for 2 shows because they didn’t think he cold go further than that. He didn’t think they would like him. So he was nervous this performers that he had also to start the show with. But they hade to change that do to his famous over night.
Dimash got many new friends from this show and he said at some point he learned a lot from it to.

If I remember correct he wrote the music to this one when he was 19 years old and lyrics by Oral-kosai Baisengir, who was a poet/lyricist father of a friend of Dimash. Also in this show another contestant "Terry Lin" that was about 51 years young here he considered Dimash a dear friend at this point. But Dimash started telling them al he was his father around episode 9 I think!! That is a big respect and love from his part of the world to call him! Terry was gladly accepting it. They are still that close and also invites each other to there concerts and sometimes singing this song in duet to. They sang it in Jackie Chang movie festival in 2019 and Jackie was choked in how good they were. Terry was known as an alien before Dimash and they have similar vocals to.

Dimash is amazingly grounded, respectful and humble too. He received some major award and immediately thought to honor his grandma by giving it to her. Despite her bad knees, she began walking him to his music lessons at age 5. He’s only 27, and the music he’s making is ever-changing and many songs carry techniques from his background. If you want to feel like you've entered Heaven, take listen to his Ave’ Maria. All his songs are worth a listen.
