Chased by Dinosaurs was my introduction to Giganotosaurus so that one still has to be my favorite. Every time I see the design, I just get instant goosebumps and nostalgic love out of it.
My introduction to the giganotosaurus was Dino Dan
@@MarkTheDilophosaurus281 Oh nice! Honestly forgot it showed up in Dino Dan but that's still amazing
The giga from chased by dinosaurs what's my introduction to the animal too
@@EvolvedGodzilla360 Noice! Good to see a fellow fan.
Chased By Dinosaurs was amazing!
Dino Dan was my childhood, it not only has great designs, but it was also the reason i got into dinosaurs in the first place.
Me too. It was and still is my favorite show
Same
I would wake up early on school days to watch the show
I pretty Much agree with you big time.
Bruhh
Fun fact: painter James Gurney was selected by the paleontologists who discovered Giganotosaurus to be the first person to do an artistic reconstruction of it! The paintings of it in his beautiful fantasy book Dinotopia: The World Beneath were actually part of the Giga’s introduction to the public!
Same same
I have that book. Quite the hype job that did not age well.
I think the reason why Gignotosaurus is depicted with spikes/spines/quills might stem from two things.
1. The possible evidence of quill nobs on Concavenator
2. Paleoartist Dmitry Bogdanov's popular works depicting many dinosaurs like Gignotosaurus with either quills or iguana-like spines.
I think another reason is that it looks a bit similar to t-rex, so the spikes are added to possibly differentiate the two
Its actually possible and its different speculation of his alive reconstruction
I believe the first portrayal of Giga is in Dinotopia by James Gurney
I love how colorful Stinktooth and his family are in The World Beneath!
Giganotosaurus was also featured in two Dinotopia books; The World Beneath & Chomper
Dino crisis version is the only that trully lives to his name haha
Ark as well
@@GTSE2005the paleo ark one is the better of the ark versions though, it’s much more elegant and intimidating, and looks less like a cheap dinosaur plush bought from Disney land.
@@snakemaster254 I agree. It has a more fun taming method too.
"Looks cool right?"
Everyone: fck yeah
Poor giga in jurassic world dominion😢
Yeah...
I dont care
It was a villain.
@@anthonybusch4407The creature did nothing wrong, it just acted like an Animal, and only fought when it needed to.
@@Raprap-dh4hmthen when did you respond bozo lmao
The giga spike trend probably originated because it was supposed to be the “rival” of T.Rex, they wanted to differentiate it from the Rex so people wouldn’t be confused, this also helped because T.Rex never really had spikes so it made it more of a “opposite
The wwd giga is more likely thought to be mapusaurus
The Giants of Patagonia ones as well.
@@prehistoricchannel128, Both of those theories are highly unlikely.
@anthonybusch4407 actually in the giant of patagonia one directly says that the megatheropod is indeed Mapusaurus
@@prehistoricchannel128well know it’s unlikely you will do mapusaurus
@@anthonybusch4407its because they were based off skeletals that are now a different species, not giga
My favorite Megatherapod.
Wait what
@@skylarsworld9477 Giganotosaurus is my favorite megatherapod.
@@Bossbruin no I mean I literally saw you last night
@@skylarsworld9477 oh.
Loved Chased by Dinosaurs as a kid, especially when I saw the Giganotosaurus and it looked really fantastic. The hunt sequence with it and the Argentinosaurus was amazing.👍👌😁
My favorite dinosaur for as long as I can remember. Gotta love the good ol’ giant southern lizard
The two different gigs from fossil fighters is due to the third game in the series being vastly different to the two that came before. The red giga is from fossil fighters 1 and champions, while the gnarly looking one is from fossil fighters frontier (frontier is not very good)
My Favorite Dinosaur :)
Turok 2008 also had a Giga, it only appeared once in the game when you were crossing a large valley. It was an undefeatable enemy & you could only run past to escape the area.
Giganotosaurus has been among my favourite dinos since I was a kid, it's cool to see many different interpretations of this animal. Great work on the video. 👍
Wake up babe, new Dino Guy just dropped!
you forgot about a mod called Paleo ARK where they give the giga a new design, and you also forgot about The Isle Evrima Giga as the Giga will have a remodel in Evrima
thats a mod, not theofficial model though
@@atomek110 still worth to mention tho
I can infer that Dino guy’s favorite phrase is “son of a gun”
dinosaur train has forever influenced how I pronounce giganotosaurus

If I'm correct, the anime sequel of the Beast Wars Transformers series, Beast Wars Neo, it also had a Giga that's one of the components that forms the Predacon antagonist, Magmatron.
3:57 I actually thought that was a tyrannosaur when I first watched the movie
Does anyone remember giga in What's New Scooby-Doo and how it had the classic JP Rex roar 😂
Land before times giganotosaurus is actually a menace to society
Nice, been waiting for this one.
For some other dinosaurs that are not famous but still showed up in media, you can make videos like many interpretations of dromaeosaurids, tyrannosaurids, ceratopsians and many others. This will give those poor unfamous dinosaurs some respect.
Another lovely video of yours. Enjoyed it very much, man! :)
Thank you!
Chased by Dinosaurs was a great first impression on this animal.
_Great_ one as always (👏)! You _did_ miss *one;* the 1995 Discovery Channel documentary _"Beyond T-Rex"_ featured Giganotosaurus (and I believe this paleo-doc in particular marks _the_ first ever media appearance of the theropod). This was produced right around the time both Giga and Carcharodontosaurus were first discovered & described, and there was that debate going on about which of them was _'bigger'_ than T-Rex.
Was waiting for this one
Great Video of the Giganotosaurus in Dino media and I pretty much agree big time that the Giganotosaurus in Dino Dan and Dino Dana was actually really cool and it’s one of my absolute favorites of Giganotosaurus, not to mention Chased By Dinosaurs Giganotosaurus, Dinosaurs Giants of Patagonia Giganotosaurus and The Isle Giganotosaurus because those were really cool in my opinion.
Great work on the Interpretations of Dinosaurs and other prehistoric prehistoric creatures and keep it up.
Thanks for the video mate. I enjoyed it 👍
First time I was introduced to the Giga was in ark. I remember watching poet plays and when he played ark and one of his friends had a giga who wouldn’t stop harassing her lol. The ark giga hold’s special spot thou cause it’s on the few Dino’s that actually scares me a bit
ark trauma lol
I don't care I like the Jurassic world Dominion design for the Giga
Me too
Same. I think it works really well for the Jurassic Park/World franchise, and didn't really understand the backlash. In a world where Raptors are huge and really smart, Dilophosaurus has a neck frill and spits venom, Pyroraptor swims as good as a penguin, and Mosasaurs grow to as large as entire pods of whales, why can't the Giga look the way it does?
Giganotosaurus showed up in Carnivores: Cityscape game from 2002. It was one of five playable dinosaurs and it appeared in last "dino" level.
Speaking if the acro comment for JWD's Giga, ive heard rumors that Giga *was* supposed to be Acro, but universal said to change it to Giga because it was more well known
The concept art for the movie shows it as acrocanthosaurus. And a pretty accurate one at that.
@@user-qx8jo3ed9u God damn, giga being with Rex makes so much more sense, even if it is still time jumping
I love that Giga is on the rise
For the fossil fighters Gigas, the first design was from the first two games (Fossil Fighters and Fossil Fighters Champions). The second design is from the third game, Fossil Fighters Frontiers, in which most of the returning dinosaurs got redesigned.
Oh my god 6:45 Dino dan is a name I haven’t heard since childhood, that show was so cool.
My favorite dinosaurs
FINALLY the moment we all were wanting for!
Cool video!
I think you should have checked out the Paleo Ark giga..
Its actually really good looking
The interpretation of the Gigachad Giganotosaurus also I like the dinosaur king and the game New One
subbed the instant you showed game versions
I like both designs for Evolution and the updated cosmetics for the Dominion look. I'm sure they're keeping the Dominion look for the third game, but I would love for them to use the old Giga look for a Carcharodontosaurus redesign.
I remember seeing big green from lbt: the Mysterious Island way back when I was a little kid and we'd rent the film from the local store.
Didn't now he was a giganotosaurus, but I do remember that every time he came on screen, I thought, "Oh no, it's the nasty one."
Not bad. Not mean. Nasty. This dinosaur and an El Tigre villain embodied that concept for me when I was a kid.
LBT Giganto was my intro and JW Giganto is my recent fave
Love your vids and especially learning about projects I didn't know about from your research. I myself can't wait for the 3 hour video of Velociraptors. Or much like your Moosasaur vid, what they call Velociraptors cause for a long time Jurassic Park made everyone think raptors were 6 feet tall. And I know if one dinosaur is probably more used than T-rex or nearly so it's raptors of some sort.
The giganotosaurus from Primeval is definitely my favorite!
Also related to Chased by Dinosaurs there is another documentary on the Chased By Dinosaurs DVD that's more or less the 'science' behind the Land of Giants. . . and what do they do for the Argen & Giga? They take their Diplodocus model and make it all brown and their Allosaurus model and give it a green tinge.
We really need to see giganotosaurus in more documentaries
Would be cool to see you look over statues/animatronics of giga's
Paleo carcharadontosaurids extremely underrated. Just their build itself extremely cool. Razor sharp Shark like tooths, very cool skull shapes and streamlined flexible body shape. Their bites definilety more effective than tyrannosaurs as sharks bites tears blue whale skin like nothing while crocodiles with blunt teeths with stronger bite force cant. Razor sharp is the ability that makes it very effective. Not to mention chin works like hammer and snaps quickly. Creates big impact force for short time to crush bones. And big upper jaw build to withstand very high stress.
The enormous Giga from Dino Crisis 2 is what really got me liking this southern giant as a dinosaur and antagonist in media. Though exaggerated in terms of size and strength likely in part due to nuclear radiation exposure ala Godzilla, the design is pretty cool and works as a final boss. W-Dragon also made a really cool 6 inch model of the Giganotosaurus from the game that I own in my collection, it is the scarred variant from the final boss fight of the game.
Kind of a hot take but I really like the Dominion Giga design I didn’t like it much in the movie but I grew on me a lot after it got skins in JWE2
Chased by dinosaurs Giga still on top
I feel like the official Jurassic park/world giga should look like the painting by Todd Marshall. That design would look cool.
Primeval designs were often stylised but very cool renditions, they did think giga was more lythe back then, but Frederic Wierum did a rendition of it with accurate anatomy, and its so cool. Primeval may be the reason I think Carcharodontosaurs look like dragons, because the same people did 'The Last Dragon' mockumentary and they gave the Prehistoric dragon similar patterns. Very cool.
It also was in a BBC documentary called extreme dinosaurs, which they use the same exact walking with dinosaurs, allosaurus model, even though that they sort of mention Maposaurus but really, they mention giganotosaurus more
I like when you tell I random facts about the Dinos even if it doesn’t fit into the video and you have to say it at the end like you did the snapping jaw… I really like to hear those interesting details about these animals it really brings them to life as individuals!
Also I recommend a video on Pachycephalosaurus! Mr. DimmaDome himself 😂
Truly the Giganotosaur the world has ever seen.
Ark also has a mod that updates the Giga's model substantially. Was hoping to see it in this video.
Anyone else ever watch Giants of Patagonia in 3D?
That was probably the last GREAT 3D film I saw where things came out of the screen.
Dino dan giga is awesome. 10/10
i like the original JWE design much more then the movie design
To me the most nostalgic look for the Giga will always be the model used in those DK books. I remember one of them had two Giganotosaurus on the cover and that instantly got the attention of my 5 year old mind.
I’m excited to see his reaction to the Giganotosaurus from the manga,Dinosaur Sanctuary
Can you do one of Carnotaurus? pleaseeeee
The land before time creature looks more allo like but still cool
do mapusaurus next!
I like that the Dino Dan Giganotosaurus is your favorite it’s mine too
Land Before Time 5 was my favorite as a kid because I always wanted a predator to be part of the friend group and wanted the sharptooths to not just be around for fight scenes because I loved carnivores more. So seeing them around for most of the movie and the fact the parents eventually are nice to Little Foot and his gang was refreshing but sadly (to my knowledge) they dont ever come back in later movies. Chomper does but not his parents.
You should do a review on the Zoboomafo episode “Dinosaurs” and look and see how each dinosaur holds up to modern day standards.
Whoo dino Dan !
Love primeval one
I think, for the most part, many dinosaur designs in the Primeval show are going to be on the thin side.
Great video! You forgot one portrayal though. There was an episode of What’s New Scooby Doo where the gang encounter the ghost of a giganotosaurus
So basically we have two sides. Design is rather solid or interesting
The second Fossil Fighters design is from the third and final game, Frontier.
JWD looks too croc-like cuz instead of the blade teeth giga should have, they gave it crocodile teeth
You should’ve seen the new modded giga on ark survival ascended its a beauty to behold.
Dino dan has a monochromatic color scheme from what I can see. It could probably be a refrence to old stopmotion black and white dinosaur films.
JWD Giganotosaurus reminds me of Gorosaurus or atleast what the Monsterverse version of Gorosaurus would look like, and who ever made that gameskin blue/yellow underbelly clearly did that as a reference.
Transformers Beast Wars Neo's main Predacon, Magmatron, is 30% a purple Giganotosaurus.
Jurassic World’s Giganotosaurus is stated to “look similar enough to the Tyrannosaurus to be mistaken for the latter,” according to the Jurassic Park Wiki.
Personally, I think only the Indominus Rex and Indoraptor should have had osteoderms.
My introduction to the Giga was the Lost world game and warpath. My favorite Giga thougu has got to be the Gojulas Giga from Zoids due to it's lore.
Here's a quick run down: The Giga along with some other Zoids were developed using a different method than most other Zoids.
They took the Wild Zoid in the case of the Giga the wild Giganotosaurus type Zoid and made it undergo a forced evolution into the Gojulas Giga.
My head cannon theory is that they didn't actually took the wild Zoids as i suspect they are difficult to control without proper taming but rather a young Zoid core that'd just split from it's mother core upon the adult Zoid's death and while it is still in embryonic stage is set to undergo a forced evolution.
Not much is known regarding the wild Giganotosaurus of Zi, it was known they were carnivorous and just like all theropod dinosaur Zoids of Zi, they had 3 fingers in their forelimbs, very similar to earth's Gigas. There is a pretty cool rendition of the wild Giganotosaurus Zoids printed in the box of the Japanese model kit.
Regarding the Gojulas Giga itself they stand at 17m in height, 29m in lenght they are very intelligent, with great instincts pilots say they are lot easier to pilot than even the regular Gojulas, and their strenght is just insane, they are unmatched in terms of melee combat. They can equip a veriety of heavy weapons due to their size and weight but they are mostly seen equipping the Gojulas Super Cannons or the Buster Cannons for long range support, and purge these weapons when they have an opening to close in to use melee.
I think the best rendition of the Giga is in the video game Zoids Full Metal Crash, where you can see the Zoid at it's full insane potential.
What about Toruk 2008 giganotosaurus?
Hey question. What’s that sauropod figure in the back
funny how T rex vs giga was done in LBT and Dino crisis before Dominion
If you liked The Isle's model you'll be happy to know the remodel for EVRIMA still keeps the Gigga Chin 👍
What's up my Giga ?
Son of a gun
The T. Rex-like Giganotosaurus in Journey to the Center of the Earth was designed and animated by Meteor Studios, which ironically designed more accurate carcharodontosaurids in the documentary Dinosaur Planet. The skin colours are also similar, though not exact. The species in Dinosaur Planet is debated by some to be Giganotosaurus. I also remember reading that the creature designer of the JTTCOTE Giga said his concepts changed overtime into a T. Rex form, so maybe at one point Journey 3D would've had a variation that might've resembled the Dinosaur Planet species. It's also interesting how this albino hybrid of rex and Giga predates the Indominus rex by 7 years!
Dude, you forgot the Giga from Turok 2008.
10:05 Funny you mentioned that because I have a fan theory that the JWD Giga might actually be an evolved Acrocanthosaurus.
5:08 jesus.. did it get into a fist fight with a therizinosaurus? It’s face is 50% battered!
When the Evo Mosa comes out for paleo ark in Ark:Survival Ascended (June 4th, or linked with the release of the Center map) can you do a single review?
0:45 at first I thought that this was a Allosaurus.
I never really liked the giga growing up, but ever since I've seen it in Jurassic world dominion, I've started to like the dinosaur
