- If you apply to Japanese Universities for Undergraduate program, typically three kinds of scholarships are available:
Government Scholarships, University Scholarships and Private scholarships. In this video we will talk about Government scholarships.
Government Scholarships - MEXT or Jasso or global 30- These are the scholarships that are offered by Japanese Education ministry which is called MEXT.
Global 30 Scholarship
13 universities across Japan were selected to put the “Global 30” ideals into active motion. These universities create a welcoming environment for international students through English-based degree programs, international support centers, specialized accommodations, and financial assistance. The 13 universities are the Doshisha University, Keio University, Kyoto University, Kyushu University, Meiji University, Nagoya University, Osaka University, Ritsumeikan University, Sophia University, Tohoku University, University of Tokyo, Tsukuba University and Waseda University.

Is it possible to study majors like music under MEXT scholarship for undergraduates? There is no major mentioned for arts in the guidelines for undergraduate but some say section Humanaties A number 8(others) is what you should choose for majors like music and visual art. Is this true or you can only apply study such majors in specialized training course ?
There are bachelors courses available in Fine arts and Music. You can apply for them with or without MEXT

If your course is English-based, then Japanese isn’t important to apply for, but you’ll have to spend one year extra in the course duration to first learn Japanese. But to get the scholarship through MEXT, you must know Japanese.
