Do you have any experience with either of these brands for hedge trimmers? ECHO vs STIHL? Let us know!

I find Echo better for cutting rougher hedges such as Pyrocantha, Laural and overgrown hedges that simply need a cut back, however, stihl I find is better for finer hedges such as Leylandia, English yew and privet.
EDIT: I'm an Echo guy, from the UK

You compared 2 different types of blades: for Stihl hs 82 there is the R type you should have compared, which has more space between the teeth for larger branches, has more power but less precision and the T type that you compare, with less space between teeth for a more precise cut, but less power. Anyway, in 10 years of professional use, I broke the gearbox mechanism only once when I was cutting with T-type, 3 cm thick branches due to impatience, although it is not recommended. I had no other problems with Stihl.
About Echo, I've never heard of them before.
If Echo also has a blade with more teeth, although you can't choose a better machine, maybe the price or the local technical assistance will make the difference.

Awesome job, Jacob!! Great points on the differences between the trimmers.

Good review but not a good comparison. The stihl T version are high speed small tooth gap for trimming. The echo large tooth gap is dor rougher cutting. The echo and the stihl hs82 R would be a better comparison. The R is also for rough cutting like the echo.

I am am Echo dealer and i have to say that the comparison is perfect. Echo has the HCR185 which is the one to compare with the hs 82r. The 2810 of the video is the one for thinner things and the HCR185 for bigger issues. I work with both of them and the Echo is more resistant.

I use the HC2210 as my hedge trimmer, it cuts nice and smooth, it’s light, and it’s easy to start

Ive run both and Sthil is my go to. Ive had nothing but fuel problems with everything from Echo from a SRM225 trimmers to backpack blowers. I have 2 Echo hedge trimmers and neither run well, won't rev up and didn't since new and the blades seem too dull very quickly. My Shtil articulating trimmers haven't been sharpened in 3 seasons now and cut through everything like butter.

My arm225 starts very easy every time, and it’s really easy pull, compared to the stihl fs 55, it’s hard to pull, hard to start, Always use non ethanol fuel, my echo 580tbackpack blower starts easy as well my stihl br 600 the only one that gives me problems is the stihl trimmer, guess the higher trimmer levels would be easy to start.
Only thing I like about echos is their start system is effortless compared to stihl even chainsaws

Though Echo are not so common in the UK, I have use a few over the years and they're pretty good, but the one thing I really don't like is the gutts of the machine are very exposed, when cutting overhead they get guncked up very quick. Husqvarna & Stihl are my go to brands! I currently run the Stihl HS81R, HS45 and Husqvarna 122HD60 and 522HDR75X, for long reach I use a Husqvarna 535LK pro combi! After watching many videos, I think more Americans should try Husqvarna, you may be surprised, lower noise levels, less vibration but still excellent performance!! That said, it's what suits you best.

When you started the Stihl you had the throttle lock on and I saw you hit the throttle to release it so that holds no water for it being a safety issue.

I have a stihl long reach kombi in UK great machine they run differently on the exhaust note and they offer two grades of blade one for coarse the other finer. Good review though wouldn't discount Echo.

Maybe should have compaired to the HS82R
But hardly expect you to choose the Stihl with the page name 😆
Did you speak of the anti vibration springs?
    ( if so sorry i missed )
Stihl is far more superior in my opinion.
Echo sounds a bit guttless as well imo compaired to HS82T ( or R )
But different strokes for different folks.
    Nice hedging 😊

  • @dmlandscapedesignllcatlant8093

Sthil definitely has more power you could hear the difference when he was in the garage the echo were struggling to rotate the blades

Stihl sounds more and the engine is more powerful. Echo doesnt need that Power because the japanese blades are better and with a smaller engine they get more efficiency.
