In the market for a hedge trimmer - what's the single sided blade like compared to double?

I prefer using the single on flat type hedges as a bit quicker and the double more for shrub pruning type jobs, both types good. All preference really

@@RJLgardens Hi mate! Loving the videos! Any advice for someone who has a conifer hedge like this which is becoming very brown on one side, yet relatively green on the other?

@@frasersutherland6837 Firstly find out exactly which conifer you have, if its Leylandii, the brown bits will not come back green im afraid. Was it cut back too hard?

@@RJLgardens No mate! It was cut just the normal way I've always done, however I've taken less off the sides in recent years as it became brown! It seems to be a common theme with similar hedges in my town. A lot of them look really brown. Someone said to me they thought it was wind erosion, which was drying out the hedges. I'm not sure what type of conifers it is. Cheers!

It could be due to the dry summer. Remember even conifer hedges need to be watered in the summer. Especially after pruning. It could be red spider mites if it's Browning in one area. If there ants at the bottom of the area it's defo red spider mites as ants eat the sugar sap the mites produce. Also run your hand through the area if your hands sticking it is the sugar sap. Last check with a magnetic glass for them. Last cause could be a fungal diesae
