- Part 2 of an interesting Q&A Series with Daniel Dettwiler.
We got many great questions about Dynamics. Learn why Automation is so important if you work "In the Box". And why to compress your Reverbs is a great idea! Or the question:"how can I keep my reverb loud, but so that the source stays in front?" One thing is for sure, if you lower the reverb, that is not the solution:-)
If you want an even more in depth learning experience, check out the mixing bible on www.danieldettwiler.com
00:13 Why to compress reverbs?
01:43 What do you do if a recording has a huge dynamic range? Do you compress, or ride faders, or use a leveler plugin?
05:04 How can I keep the reverb at a loud level, but make sure that the source does not go to the back?

Thank you so much for that. I really appreciate some one like you is sharing with us (and for free!!!) all these jewels!!
Glad you like it:-)
Woohoo you are up one thousand followers!
More would not be bad:-)
Super informative. Thanks a lot Daniel!
Thanks. Spread the word:-)
The best advice 😉👌🏻
Thanks, let others know about it - the channel could get some boost...
The Pre-delay explanation is so great! Danke dir - macht so Sinn -
Freude herrscht - teile das Video gerne! Und check meine Mixing Bible auf danieldettwiler.com, wenn Du an einem ausführlicheren Kurs interessiert bist.
Excellent information thank you
Thx… share the vid if you liked it:-)
@@danieldettwiler.official Will do Daniel - I find your videos inspiring!! Incidentally, I meant to mention re another vid - I think Born in the USA (I think that was the track) was mixed by Bob Clearmountain. All the best and keep up the great work.
@@rogergamon Hm: I remember him saying in a vid that he mixed it. Also find it in Google under his name:
Chris Lord-Algewww.chrislordalge.com
Chris Lord-Alge: 5 time Grammy-award winning American mix engineer known for his use of ... "Dancing in the Dark", "Cover Me", and "Born in the U.S.A.".
@@danieldettwiler.official Ah interesting, just googled it and it does mention CLA but mentions 'remix'? I remember seeing a vid with Bob Clearmountain talking about how he treated the snare - I think that might be on the original?? I only mentioned it 'cos I'm really big fan of what you are doing - IMO you are making a fantastic and often novel contribution to all things mixing - and was a bit concerned that someone might 'pull you up' on it. Here's the wiki page which mentions BC - though it looks like maybe they both mixed it at different times??? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Born_in_the_U.S.A.
@@rogergamon Interesting! Yes, maybe Bob made the original mix.
Spread the Word about my vids, that would be great.
Going to buy the bible ! this is solid gold thank you Daniel ! so would you automate pre-delay and reverb attack in order to bring elements backwards and forward in the mix ?
Yeah, get the bible! It will last for the next 2000 Years I hope:-)
Let me know what you think of it.
@@danieldettwiler.official Amen ! Daniel, you are the Messiah of mixing !!!
Great info (even if im subscribed to the mixing bible) it has revolutionized my way of thinking when mixing ❤️
Thanks. Spread the word:-). To all interested in the bible: I think the bible goes way deeper than the free UA-cam stuff. For all that really want to come further in mixing, and that like in general my teaching style, I recommend getting the bible (www.danieldettwiler.com). The bible is also way more pedagogical organized.
Good video!
Thanks:-) spread the word!
Very good video.
great, shar it!!
Could you do a delay masterclass, please?
I have to think about that. There would be a lot to say about delays, on the other hand, I feel that other engineers are more competent to this topic as I am. I usually only make those videos on things that I think, that I have to say something on the topic that really adds some value to the sauce. We will see…
what you are saying sounds like you are sidechainig the compressor on the reverb to the dry signal?
You coild side hain, but it usually is not necessary..
😂👍
I know JJ Abrahams is hiding somewhere in this studio 😂
That would be nice. He could help us with filming:-)
