In my humble opinion, Daniel is one of the best guys out there. I even think we should create a campaign in order to get his videos to a wider public... Merci Dan

Hey, thanks. Yes, it absolutely would be helpful if you, and others, that found this channel (and think it is good for them), would be active, talk about it etc. I.e. if you recommend it in forums, that might be something:-)

Before this I never heard about wolf tone. Just incredible information can't imagine what full course would offer 😮😮

I love this guy when i learned engineering in the 70s. You would be lucky to even have a teacher like this. Now all this expertise is given to us for free. Im going to start donating to their patreon channels.

Great explanation. This video should be mandatory for all audiophiles. Sooo much nonsense floating around audiophile forums i’m getting a headace just thinking about it. 😂

Wow! Where did that come from? I have been watching educational stuff for years but never got such an explanation on this topic. I signed up to your mixing bible and look forward to your next masterclass on reverbs.

Wow, just stumbled upon your videos. Finally someone who is actually trying to educate, in detail, and not trying to camoflauge "education" in what is actually just a plugin sales ad with poor advice, which is basically 9 out of 10 mixing youtube videos... Thinking about enrolling :)
Also, Such a wonderful and clear explanation in this video! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Great - yeah, my idea was, to provide "real" education for free on UA-cam, and those who like it, it would be great if you spread the word. Yeah, and if you want this kind of Education but way more elaborated, prepared, in depth and with conceptual and contextual explanation about the paradigm in Mixing, then you definitely should try the Mixing Bible! :-)

Cheers, St. Dd

I would love to hear that Mehldau recording you did.Is it released?
Also would be nice if you could play for us the wolf tones so we can better understand.

Wolf Tones: I will do that in my paid EQ Tutorial (I mean, hey, I must hold back some things for the paying clients :-). (But you can subscribe on www.danieldettwiler.com, the EQ Tutorial is coming soon).
Mehldau: It was for the Adventsproject, that the Jazzcampus Basel made. If you look here for Jazzcampus Basel, you will find it, if it gets released. My Trio Recording with Jorge Rossy is already there.

Hi Daniel! Im diggin your videos a lot! But a lot!!! They are awesome. I was thinking, do you find It interesting doing a video about Al Schmit? Maybe explaining how he got away without using almost no eq, and if you find problems in his mixes. I dint understand how he doesnt compress and eq 🥴

Hence why a lot of it is down to subjectivity as our brains, ears etc are not the same even though there is over riding objectivity aka the science.

There is taste, and different ways. But for me, it is important to emphasize, that we also can specify quality and in a mix. If dynamics and spectral balance is not treated nicely and in a correct way, then it is like bad cooking. If there is too much salt on the meat, there is too much salt.
