As a woman who became a mother and wife at a young age in the late 90s and was literally the only homemaker on my street. I really appreciate what he said! ❤I had no girlfriends who didn't work. It was very lonely and I was accused of being lazy. My husband was constantly being told he should make me work. We struggled financially. It was difficult but it was very important to both of us that our children be raised at home with their mother. I'd also like to add that we were not religious at the time it was just pure common sense to us: I had the breasts to feed the baby and he made more money. It's thrilling to hear the title "homemaker" being held in esteem by a young man like him.
Same here, it was very hard in the 80s. I was a gold digger with a poor man. lol

My mother stayed home until all of us kids were in school and then she worked as a school teacher so that her schedule would be close to our schedule and she could be home when we were home. Even with that, my home often felt empty, and when Mom was home she had papers to correct, or she was sleeping in her chair because she was so tired from teaching all day. I was determined that, no matter what, my kids would have me, their mom in the home full time. My husband was a blue collar worker as a mail man, and he worked overtime to provide for our family that grew to us two parents and our nine kids. As a teenager, I went through some bad times and I felt like things would have been somewhat different if Mom had been in the home. Even, or especially, in my teen years, I needed my Mom at home. My reversion happened as a young mother at 20 years old as I began to learn more about my faith so that I could teach my son the Truth. It took some time to meet other Catholic moms who were full time homemakers and mothers, and I sometimes felt some negativity from certain folks that I was full time home with my kids and not in the workplace. Oh well, I am so very glad for the years I had with my kids while they were growing up. My youngest just graduated from Benedictine this past weekend. God bless all the wonderful Moms who embrace their vocation and provide a home with their mother.

One of my older brothers and one of my sisters are attending the college and they love it there. I was thinking about trying to get into Benedictine at the end of my high school years partially because it is a Catholic-based college and another part because it is only an hour's drive from home. Now, I really want to get in.

I’m a Catholic priest who has been trying to learn the TLM. I just heard the commencement speech by Harrison Butker. What a perfect affirmation for the domestic Church in our time. This needs to be heard by every Christian family, not just Catholic, because it affirms what we hear in the letters of Paul.
Our priest did the Latin Mass once a month. After being saddled with two parishes it became difficult for him because of the extra time it takes. My advice is get fluent in dialect and the proper flow of spoken Latin. If you hear a priest who is fluent in Latin, it’s beautiful. If the priest is just learning, it can be very choppy.

As an avid Chiefs fan, I have always admired Harrison for his Catholic beliefs. He stands up for his beliefs, 100%!
Unlike Drew Brees who turned coward after confronted y lefties. I lost ALL respect for who used to be one of my favorite quarterbacks. I hope this gentlemen is able to withstand the onslaught he and his family will endure because of this Brees could have stood up and honored veterans of this great nation including his relatives but chose to cave. A real tragedy that was.
His getting choked up when he mentions how his girl became his wife tears me up. It reminds me of how I burst into tears of joy when I said my own wedding vows and their implications really sank in. His sincerity speaks volumes. I pray that God will bless him and his family.
The NFL has issued a statement that says that the views of Butker are Not the views of the NFL! That should be the statement that is considered controversial! The ironic part is most of us would never have heard this fantastic speech if the Left didn’t make it famous! God works in mysterious ways! Butker may have made the best and hopefully what becomes the most famous commencement speech ever. Great broadcast!

I live in Minnesota and been watching the Vikings for years and they keep disappointing. I love Harrison Butker and his faith. What a great Catholic. God Bless him and his family and I will always have him in my rosary.
Although the whole country was listening, the main audience was the 2024 Benedictine graduating class. I loved this speech. I agreed with everything he said, and I hope the Catholics who were there at Commencement were affirmed and encouraged in their faith. I know I was and am - and I wasn't even there. I was part of the broader audience in the United States - many of whom are critical of his message. Catholics everywhere should be emboldened by this young man, and the wider audience at large should be inspired and strive for decency and goodness in their own lives.
As a Broncos fan I struggle with this and the Chiefs tremendously. However, what a Man! I love the TLM and this is exactly what is needed in our society, football, and America! Well said, God Bless Harrison Butker!
I am a fan of Buffalo Bills here in Spain (and I'm Spanish) and I dont like the Chiefs very much, and I also say it loud "God Bless Harrison Butker"!!
I came to say the same thing as an RTC Broncos fan!
My last visit to Arrowhead stadium was a game against the Broncos, we had several broncos fans sitting around us and all of us had a great time cheering for our teams. Friendly rivalry, no antics, just good fun and a close game!!
He is a great athlete and a better Catholic.

@@davidb645 Dad was a Bears fan, Grandpa was amused by the whole thing and the rest of the uncles were either Packers or Lions. Family gatherings were entertaining in a light hearted, fun way. Great memories.

God bless him! definitely one of the best speeches I’ve ever heard. I am one of those women who were lied to because I knew deep down,God wanted me to be a wife and mother and I mistakenly listened to society. I still was blessed to stay home with my children, but I always felt I wasn’t good enough because I wasn’t working outside of the home. It wasn’t until I was in my 40s, I finally realized I didn’t have to feel that way. We need more speaking out like this.

I am a Catholic, a woman, a mom, a sibling of ten others (two who are priests and one a Carmelite nun), a former Catholic school teacher who left to take care of mom, and a former avid Buffalo Bills fan (having married a Buffalonian). Due to my aunt who served as president of a Buffalo college, my husband and I were fortunate to have been able to attend three of the four Buffalo Bill Super Bowls because Bill Polian was on the board of her college. He was fired from the Bills after the third SB loss. I also grew up with Harrison's mom and dad, both wonderful people. I purchased a #7 Kansas City Chiefs jersey just to show Harrison my support. You go, Harrison!!

I used to be a huge NFL fan. I was a lifelong Dolphins guy, but after they sold out to the racist, occultist terror org BLM, I left and never went back. Butker is a legend and obviously a good Catholic, but the NFL is dead to me.

Born and raised a Chiefs fan in Kansas. I liked them more when they sucked lol I can't stand the nfl anymore. Harrison is the only good that comes from it. I thank him for validating my choice to quit watching the NFL, based on their reaction to the speech. I admit that, as a Pats fan, it’s pretty easy to go cold turkey on football these days.
Dad gave up football 20 or so years ago, don't even remember why. He had been a serious fan, watching every game he could. Keeping track of everything. But once he gave that up, that was it and he never looked back.
As a traditional Catholic I love Harrison Butker. But I won't forgive him. I'm from Buffalo.

I believe it's the culture we live in that devalues the benefits of having a Mom and Dad in the home. Coming from someone who has now been divorced as long as she was married. I can say I have been on both sides of his argument. I completely believe everything he said is true. Thank you for your kind words towards Harrison Butker. He's a bright light shining in the darkness. Btw, as a Chiefs fan our game's with the Bills are ALWAYS some of my favorite games!! It a shootout between the QB's, great defense and passionate fan's, sitting on the edge of your seat kind of game. If we had lost to you guys I was definitely going to be cheering you guys to the SB. I'm a Boston College grad who grewup near KC and had friends that went to Benedictine College. We had a rivalry as to which is the real BC. The only Catholic thing going for Boston College was Diug Flutie's Hail Mary pass. Harrison just ended any possibility to keep the rivalry going. Boston College is the BC that is Barely Catholic and I concede Benedictine gets the real BC status after this Commencement address.
Sadly, as a fellow alumnus of Boston College, I am so disappointed by BC and their spreading the woke church through the C21 programs. Let’s pray that Boston C can once again be a Catholic college.😊

Best part...going after "NFP"....Catholic birth control.....spot on!
It’s only birth control when people use it to deliberately not have children. They have grave reasons like maybe the wife had an emergency C-section the previous pregnancy and they wanted her to heal a little bit longer. They normally have children every 19 months so they decided to wait a couple more months and they used NFP for getting pregnant. A grave reason would be like an illness not because they don’t want another kid. I’m saying that it can be abused, but it can also be used to achieve pregnancy not every woman is the same with their cycle. Some people have to track it with NFP methods.
While I really enjoyed his speech and find it praiseworthy I find such comments about NFP to come from a place of ignorance. Fertility awareness practices have always been "a thing", that's not some V2 invention. Nor is it birth control. Competitive Catholicism is not an attractive thing, or holy, especially when it boils down to who has the bigger van in the church parking lot. Family size is a matter of personal discernment with God. Abstinence is not a sin. And when people assume that pious family with only 2 is 3 kids is using NFP as "birth control", in my experience, it's because there's a story of secondary infertility, or serial miscarriage behind it. So stop judging what you don't know the full story about. You're not a better Trad or Catholic for it.

@@timo4054 Read Pope Paul VI's encyclical Humanae Vitae. It spells it all out. Understand what the Church actually teaches and why before you just go off insisting that God calls us all to have as many children as possible by having sex whenever and however, with no regard for the need for physical healing post-partum of the mother, and with no regard for the need for self-mastery of passions, or the needs body and soul of the children already entrusted to you, until menopause. This is categorically NOT Church teaching, but rather a reactionary knee-jerk by those who (rightfully) are horrified by the consequences of the birth control culture. Don't preach such a ridiculous overcorrection. Even the Catechism of the Council of Trent does not insist what you are implying. Birth control directly interrupts the procreative act. In the case of abstinence, no unitive procreative act has occurred. It is apples and oranges.

I just watched on UA-cam an interview five years ago with Butker on EWTN. The interviewer asked him was he praying about winning the Super Bowl. Butker said no. He said he was praying for his wife and child and that he would be the best husband and father. This guy is a saint.
Lifelong Bills fan here and I cant bring myself to ever be mad at the Chiefs.
