    When my parents were first married, they were vacationing in Hawaii and were invited to one of these time share meetings. They offered a nice steak dinner just for sitting in on the meeting so my father said yes. They went and enjoyed a wonderful meal and listened to the pitch. When done the by asked which one they wanted and my father said that he wasn't interested. The guy became indignant and insinuated that they were obligated because of the meal. My father thanked him for the meal and told him to kiss his ass and then walked out with my mom in tow. They were also smart enough to not fill out any paperwork.

    I've worked for ILX in Sedona, Sheridan in Scottsdale, both Wyndham and Diamond resorts on Maui, and Playa Grande in Cabo San Lucas, whereby every single timeshare resort that I worked at was a scam and if there was hidden cameras they would have definitely been shut down and crucified by the public if they ever saw how badly these resorts treat their customers. 🚫

      That was from Shrek Forever After, h the 4th Shrek movie.
      There are plenty of stories about how bad time shares are. I work in an industry where I meet with people signing up for timeshares and the reasoning the salesman usually gives for why they should do it has become “pass it on to the kids”. Which includes the annual maintenance fee of $2500 or more which alone can cover the cost of a hotel stay nearly anywhere in the world for a weekend.

      These are low IQ people. These people are not sophisticated. They don't have the level of sophistication to go and cancel the line of credit that they were (apparently) criminally offered. Senator Elizabeth Warren's silly little CFPB agency is supposed to protect these unsophisticated people from signing up for things they don't want and will never use. Problem is, Sen Elizabeth Warren does not care if these two people live or die because they are probably Trump voters and she only wants her agency to protect people who vote democrat.

      Which is it?
      The income is 60,000 on the application
      They openly admitted they didn't make that $$
      But, the qualifications clearly say combined income of 60k or more, so they lied to take the presentation to get free shit.

      What credit bill? This story stated Hillbilly Bob was approved and received a $15,000 line of credit. He didn't buy the timeshare with it. And if he doesn't go on a spending spree at Walmart, there won't be any bill. The 15k will just sit in a bank and wait for him to need it one day. When he decides to use it, then he'll get a bill, fees, and interest due. And if he's got shaky credit, and they managed to get him approved. It may actually help improve his score. Provided he doesn't use it.

However, look at how he writes "6" in his phone number vs. the "6" in "$60,000". They are completely different. This happened TO ME. We went to a timeshare and they were giving us $3000 in stay credits to use for paying $60.. they wanted our SSN to give us our $3000 in free stay credits.. I was like OK.. We ended up NOT buying.. Guess what, I get a credit card for $1500K a few weeks later.. It was DIGITALLY signed. Come to find out, buried in the FINE print was that as part of accepting the $3000 in free stay credits, they have to secure it with a credit card, and to do this, they needed to submit for me for a credit card. WELL, come to find out, they then CHARGED that card $1500, and said after I used the $3000 in credits, they would refund the $1500. WTH?? But the stays HAD to be used within 1 year.. I looked and almost every date was blacked out.. I was like. NO WAY.. I went back to cancel. They said I had to return the brochure with all the points that I was given, that would be the only way to get a refund since that was bought.. WELL, I kept it BY CHANCE.. I went back to the office, returned the brochure and the price list and got the credit card canceled and the money refunded.. 4 months of this. I ended up filling a complaint and got the credit inquiry and history removed as fraud. At ZERO point could they produce the signed credit card application.. It was digitally signed with my name printed digitally.
      Here is how it happened.. To claim that prize they were offered, they had to give their SSN and sign papers. More than likely this was run by a 3rd party company who ONLY get paid when someone signs up, takes a LOC, etc.. they workers also get a commission. The 4 airline tickets were worth more then $600 so they needed to provide their SSN. These 3rd party companies know most people keep the CC and the LOC. This is a very common timeshare, LOC scam..

    The Vacation Village Colonies at Williamsburg, VA saleswoman Jackie gave us "I'm not supposed to tell you this information" but if we were to hire her close, real estate, friend at Vacation Services International, he could easily sell our other timeshare with Westgate to pay for our purchase at Colonies. She said he could also sell our "bonus week" we would receive with a Colonies purchase to take care of the bill and the maintenance fee. We believed her. When confronting Colonies on these illegal practices, Colonies argues we had seven days to back out. They also argue that if we had informed the Closer that Jackie told us we could sell our Westgate easily, the Closer would have stopped the sale. Really? These people have broken Virginia law which forbids bait and switch tactics as well as fraud for profit tactics to make a sale.

We lost an entire day saying No after No to multiple people after a while you get tired and hungry and start actually listening to them. They kept promising us the world and made us think we will be investing in the holy grail. And we fell for the scam. Wyndham people are liars and scammers. They told my husband and I if we give them our info they will not run our credit, its just info they need upfront. And shocker they ran our credit. As of today, we are still paying for the bullsht that we have not been able to use a single day. So wait. I don't see a problem in the grand scheme of the thing. The "scammers" got them approved for a $15,000 line of credit. How is that bad? They didn't sell them anything, so there's no debt. And with an additional 15,000 available, but unused. It actually brings their credit score up. And if they ever need it in an emergency, they got it. Please, someone explain.

      Opening a new line of credit can be a soft inquiry or hard. Which can spike your credit score for a small time. Also the terms and agreements of the card could have hidden penalties which is how they made money otherwise why would they have enrolled them?

    • @Kewrock
      @Kewrock 2 роки тому +2

      @@TheBubbRubb Hidden fees or penalties are a completely different story, but there's no mention of that here. For that much money, it'll most likely be a hard inquiry. A soft is irrelevant and even a hard doesn't really last that long or make that much of a difference. Especially if you're approved and it remains unused. I really don't see any catastrophe here. The real catastrophe would have been if they actually bought a timeshare. It's definitely a questionable practice though. EDIT. I double checked Paypal's ToS. There is no sign up and no annual maintenance fees. It's free to keep, unless you start using it.

      @@TheBubbRubb It is definitely a BAD practice. But in no way were these people "scammed" into any debt. At 1:05 he claims "Ah cain't afford dat!". There is nothing to afford. He got a free line of credit through two reputable companies, Paypal and Synchrony Bank. Synchrony is huge. They underwrite credit for JC Penny, QVC, BestBuy, Paypal and countless other retailers. Nothing scammy about them. It won't cost him anything unless he uses it. If he uses it wisely, it's a great tool to have. Wyndham probably did him a favor. And I know exactly what happened here. The salespeople talked him into signing an instant approval application, just so they know whether or not they should waste their time trying to sell him. He said they weren't buying anything. But no one walks into these things a buyer. It's up to salespeople to sell them. Pre-approval is a great selling tool. "Hey, we got you approved for $15 thousand dollars. You can get the best one!". Car dealerships do this kind of thing too. People hit a half dozen dealerships in a weekend looking for a car. A week later they find out their credit score is all dinged up from inquiries. A lot of dealerships use a credit app as a customer contact (up) sheet (I was a car salesman).

    The Right of Rescission,
    Usually 7 to 10 days in Florida , yes you have the Right to Cancel your contract but you MUST do it in that time frame its usually on the back pages of your contract you have up to the last date of the allotted time to mail in your notices to Cancel the contract ...

  • @thereselastname9197
    @thereselastname9197 5 років тому +9

    If you just went to a timeshare presentation and signed the contract look through it you have the right to recission governed by the contract and the state you bought the timeshare...act fast...different states have different time periods from 3 to 10 to 14 days to cancel the timeshare from the date you signed it. You have to do it in writing and send certified mail return receipt plus send the owner packet or materials they gave you. Follow the contract instructions as to where to send the letter. The date you mail it out or time stamped by the US Postal service if it is in the rescission time period is what counts...then the company has to cancel and refund you your money. If you dont do it in time you are stuck and have to get a lawyer or go with timeshare exit team. Be careful these timeshare companies are sneaky they give you a more detailed contract and dont review it with you burried in these contracts are language that you waive your right to class action lawsuits etc... Rescission is the cooling off period that the federal government allows you as the buyer to change your mind
    I cant emphasize enough to read the contract and act immediately if you are in the rescission window to get out of your timeshare before it is too late!

He doesn't even know what he's got. And the news station is playing along. They're not helping him, they're exploiting his stupidity for ratings, the same as the Wyndome salespeople. He didn't buy the timeshare, so there's no debt to pay back. The LoC lays in a bank until he decides to start using it. IF he knows how to manage credit, it's a wonderful thing to have. The improvement to his credit score for an unused 15k LoC will far outweigh the initial ding for the inquiry. The sales people used some questionable sales tactics, but this guy wasn't scammed. Except for his free gift maybe.

I know this may be hard for many of you to believe. But, we have loved using this every year. Now, if you like the concept of owning (We were not aware of this when we bought) but, feel the price is to high, buy on
    the secondary market. Ebay has great listings. Just do not buy into fixed weeks. Only consider points that lets you remain flexible.
    But, keep in mine, you will still pay yearly fees. To let you know that this is possible, my son has a tiimshare that can be used in various places. One of the locations is at Lake Tahoe. He paid less than thirty dollars for a one bedroom, but does pay his yearly fees like any other owner. If you are really interested, look into magazines that teach about the secondary markets.

    I went to a hunting and fishing show and filled out every giveaway that I could. I was called and told I had won second prize on one entry. It was for a cruise. Total scam. I wound up calling State Attorney’s General’s office in Florida. They already had an ongoing investigation and I got all the money back that they took from me.

    The timeshare era is over. If it looks unaffordable from the onset, there is nothing that can make the price achievable for somebody with no capital to begin with. Craziness is rampant in this game. Timeshare is essentially a network marketing scheme in disguise.

    ...idk why wouldn’t they ask for copies of everything they sign?? I always ask if I can get a copy too. I like business that offer to make me copy or have copy for me.
    Once when I was at the dealer, I told them I was gonna go for my bank’s loan. We sort out everything and I was taken to the finance office. Got there and the guy handled me a long sheet of paper, asking me to sign. I glanced at it and asked what it was. He said, it was to accept their bank’s loan since it offer a lower APR. He probably expected me to blindly sign it. I immediately said no, I already decided on my bank loan. He made a rude comment that I didn’t bother to reply back to. I was young and naive when I bought my first car - but at least I read everything I am gonna sign my name on and they were professional enough to give me copies!!

      I went to one of these presentations at the Polo Towers in Las Vegas. Three hours of hell and I didn't buy a single point. I walked out of there with a $50 gaming voucher and a $100 prepaid Visa card. I still wouldn't put myself through that ever again.

    1:48 it's right there on the form they filled out, " Credit Authorization/Owner Information and their authorization for the Company to obtain their credit information is initialed right above the choice to not to authorize the company to obtain their credit information. If they're that confused on how the company obtained their Credit Information I have no confidence they didn't sign up for a PayPal line of credit and signed authorization to apply for a credit card. They both seem delightful down to earth people but come on, a little personal accountability please.
