I nearly purchased this, and after I've seen this review, I'm glad I didn't. It's definitely not what I thought. The cleaning mop attachment seems like it's going to be annoying and/or unsanitary. I wish they would've waited for releasing a bit more of an impressive technology. This doesn't seem "high end" at all like you would expect from Dyson.
Unfortunately she didn’t read the instructions very well. It says it’s not for spills, how could it be it just has a little tank. Also it says to detach the head before putting it into the base which she didn’t do, instead she tried to put it in as a whole unit so it moved around. Secondly it says do not shake the drips out, which she did. Thirdly, it shows in the instructions to remove the long red section from the dirty water tank before emptying, which she didn’t do, it then clips back in. So basically she didn’t use it as intended and the gave it a negative review.
@@HAL-vu8ef you're correct but there are tons of wet vacuums now that work for spills so i think the intention was to compare this to them and dyson definitely fails there.
Very good review! A long time ago Dyson had a similar cleaning head (Dyson Hard). Dyson and water was (and still is) not a good combination. And remember: Only this Dyson V 15 works with this cleaner head, No other modell!
Excellent review and I completely agree!! I know dyson makes great products but this isn’t one of them. I’m looking forward to see how dyson improves on this idea
Dyson has just introduced an upright wet dry vacuum called Wash G1. I should be able to get hands on with it later this year. If that’s what you’re looking for you might want to wait for that review to see if it’s for you.
Vacuum first. Then mop. Simple. But the trigger is a disappointment. As is the open dirty water which has a tendency to slop out and leave dirty water splatters on the floor.
Thanks Erin, I was debating about getting but your review pointing out there is no suction helped me make up my mind to hold off. I absolutely love my v15 but I can’t see spending this much on what is essentially a mop head.
I think this is user error. You arent suppose to use this to clean up large spills. This is used on hard floor to clean and remove dust similar to a wet swipper that i use to clean hardwood floor.
I use the swiffer mop + wet wipes currently to mop hard floor, i think the lack of suction is fine, since the swiffer is the same way, price wise, seems like it hurts the value there. I don't know if technology is where it's at anyway for vacuums b/c generally, moisture is not vacuum friendly anyway and causes problems for vacuums. Price is bad but if it was cheaper, i wouldn't mind trying this as a replacement for swiffer since that means i won't have to buy the wet mop wipes anymore and just use water and cleaning solution.
Thank you for this review! I have the v15 detect and generally love it… I’m disappointed that there is no suction for the submarine. I really wanted to love it. :/ I will not be buying it now.
Beware of those large spills! This model is absolutely not suitable for wooden or laminated floor. I need to dry them manually and when the floor dries out, it looks messy with lots of stains anyway
Its almost like a rush engineering design to keep up with the joneses on the wet mop industry. A sad design on Dysons end. What they should do is engineer a wet vacuum using a blower impeller venturi vacuum where the air gets redirected to create the vacuum so that the motor housing and impeller isnt in the direct airflow of the liquids or dirt isn't drawn in keeping the motor and the electronics perfectly dry. Quite the simple ergonomical engineering process without losing airwatts and efficiency. As a matter of fact they should do that with all cordless vacuums. They basically have the design already in their bladeless fans and hairdryers. They're not that far off in how to move air around in a confined space. I have already done wind tunnel tests on my small prototype vacuum. If i remove the orfice collar in my vaccuum and reverse it in the body of the vacuum gun assembly i basically have a high powered blow gun and in reverse a high powered Vacuum. The motor is nowhere near the airflow and is practical. Now add a canister with an array of cyclone separators and your golden. Open the sealed bin and just spin out the sealed cyclone canister out of the bin and add a side inflow sealed nozzle attachment into the top of the bin, close the bin off and you have a wet cordless vacuum. You can also add an inline floor cleaner product to the other end and then you have an orfice metered shampoo mechanism for carpets or hard floors all powered and controlled by airflow. Make it light and ergonomic enough then one is set.
Really sad Dyson's attempt fell a bit short. Every wet/dry vacuum I've seen looks way too bulky. 😅 Shark has a big opportunity with this one. Question is, will it be called the Shark Detect Pro Submarine? 😂
I can't understand why small 12S which is dedicated to small flats has an uncomfortable button on top of the vacuum. 15S is the opposite and makes no sense too. It should be totally opposed. 15S with button, 12S with trigger.
i just ordered this V15 detect at 799 ( canadian ) 580 ( US )....is that a good deal ? was 200 off ( regular 999 canadian ). I went to a Dyson store and tried them all and i liked the V15 , the trigger was so easy I don't think it will be an issue at all.......great review and i am glad i did not order the submarine version... ..cheers from Vulcan Canada
So, what would you recommend using instead? I have the “Old” V15 and I am interested in having some kind of floor cleaner to replace the oldie mop+bucket solution on the side. Maybe even one that picks up a bit of dirt/pet hair too.
It really depends on your budget. In my opinion, the best mop you can buy is the Dreame H12. It's a bit pricey though. I went with Bissell HF3, since it was cheaper and Bissell has an official seller in my country. It's not perfect though and some dried stains are harder to remove. It doesn't leave any streaks, it's super easy to use and the surface has such a nice uniform shine to it after the mopping.
I own the Dyson absolute V15 extra and the submarine roller and I can tell you: They Are NOT compatible. You have to buy the whole kit in order to have any/ full funtionality!
Been 8 years since our last purchase this has been a very nice upgrade!!!

Me too😅
Indeed !
Same. This product was rushed out. V15 or Gen5 is a better purchase. G1 will outperform the Submarine with ease.

For any spills even large spills, you should use paper towels to soak up the spill then use this to clean up the floor of any residue left behind
Exactly what I was thinking
Defies the purpose of a mop………… ?
You were right this was a stop gap. Dyson just announced the WashG1 Wet Floor Cleaner
Very good review!

It cost the same as the gen5 detect but with the extra sub head, feels like a no brainer.
Thanks for the honest review. I was thinking to buy Dyson 15 submarines, but now I might just get normal vacuum from Dyson .

Thank you, you just saved my lot of money.

That’s fair! It’s great but the value question can be a dealbreaker.
I was undecided submarine vs gen5! I bought submarine for 806,00€ less than gen5 (849,00€). in the end of the day i can have both worlds in one.
Check out the Dyson Wash G1. Recently purchased and amazing.
Would love to! Working on getting my hands on one soon 😁
Hi, I love whatever you review it’s not about the product. It’s about the reviewer.❤❤❤
Te amo!

Super helpful video!!! Hope they do a deal on Black Friday.

Good to know!
5:50 you need to remove the RED plastic protector to enable it to fully drain.
Thank you!

This is a good practical review❤
Glad you think so! Thanks for watching.
Büyük parça kalıntıları bir kağıt havlu ile almalısınız..
very good review
Very concise. Thank you!
You're welcome!

ecovacs deebot x2 omni with mop, wash and dry all in one is way better then Dyson's vocums.
Tq tq tq 🙏
will this head fit my gen 2 dyson v11, thanks
Cant seem to find your review on detect v15 in the channel?
So this isn’t a steam mop? 😭
Noooooo. 🙂

Off topic here what speaker model is that in the background at 32 seconds ? Right hand of screen anyone know?
Sorry, but this was really disgusting to watch.
Don't use your kitchen sink when you empty the watertank 🤢
