In this video I go over the Boonedox Landing gear setup and give my honest opinion after 4 years of use on 3 different kayaks. - Навчання та стиль
Very good input about not cracking the hull and not over tightening the bolts
Thanks
Thank you for the reassurance. I have the new groovy version on my 21 Outback that uses the flat metal plate and starboard inside the hull.
I would have to agree, Ive had the BDLG on 2 different Hobie PA12s, 2 2019+ Outback’s and now my Old Town Autopilot 120. Ive never had an issue with cracking. I had the original system, then the one you have here, and now the Groovy style on my AP120 no issues at all. Great Video!
Glad you went ahead with branching out on videos man! I've actually been thinking about getting this cuz I no longer use my stock rod holders
This was a great overview of this product. Thank you so much. I've struggled with my Heavy OldTown Auto Pilot and I'm ready to try this. Much appreciated. Appreciate the info on not overtighetning and the thread locker. Good idea. I've got very lightweight Lithium Ion batteries = 14 lbs. I'll removve the 25 lb trolling motor just because it's not that hard to remove and store. My yak tips at 150 without motor.
You will be fine with the landing gear setup. I had it on a PA 14 that weighed more than that
Great video Jesse!you should look into c tug sandtracks, they have zero flotation but are like tank treads and can go over sand. Very similar to the zero flotation wheels but improved for all terrain
Excellent video. Killer garage.
Good content. If you don't mind me asking, what beach tires do you have? Most won't fit the goovey 1" axle. You have to order a whole new arm with the beach tire. $$$. Thanks in advance
Would there be any issue with having the arms positioned (angled) forward instead of back for load balancing?
Interesting you said you had a friend that lost one of the arms, I saw one on the side of the HRBT on my way to the CBBT a while back, and I was like oh that really sucks. Some guy getting ready to launch at the CBBT was upset he had just lost one so I told him where I saw it. Wonder if it was the same guy, I have no idea who it was though.
does anyone use this landing gear on the shearwater 125? been really wanting to get this landing gear, just wanna make sure it’s compatible with my kayak.
Does your rod or lure ever hit the wheels/poles when you skip cast?
Iv looked at getting come but 9 times out of 10 I’m on a fast moving river and don’t think they would hold up
What is the brand of your sand tires?
Can I ask, what kind of crate do you have with the pole holders, do you have behind your seat?
Hobie H Crate
Also I believe it does void your warranty if you have a Hobie.
Heard you can put pool noodles on the legs to make them float should you flip and they come out.
Good Tip!
Hi, I just bought my very first kayak at 73 years old. I belong to a Kayak Facebook group and one of the members recommended the landing gear. The youtube videos I have watched make it look terribly difficult to install. How come you don't have those blocks under your screws and have they made it easier to install? Love your video and I subscribed!
I do have the supporting blocks in the hull for the mounting screws. It is not hard to install if you do the wire trick like I showed
What do you use to make those guards on the side of your kayak from getting scuffed up…
Water hose and black 3 inch gorilla tape.
There are competitors?! I've only ever seen boondox make these. Can u tell us the brands so I can compare?
I only know of one made by a kayak company... It was mentioned to me by a friend... Sorry can't remember the name
Native Watercraft makes a similar system: the Sidekick System
Where u been
I was the friend that lost the arm w/ wheel on the highway & it was never found. What a headache 1st thing in the morn. 🤦🏼♂️
That was a crappy start to that day for sure
