Seriously good video Mr. Ricalde. This just saved me so much time, money, and potential headaches. I've spent the past week or so searching the web and reviewing other youtube videos...ended up ready to hire someone to do it for me. After watching your basic and fancy cut videos I was able to complete 3 rooms in one day today and now have the confidence to knock out the remainder in a breeze tomorrow. Thanks a million!
+Eric Thompson Hi Eric, I really appreciate your comment! Looks to me like you are an excellent learner and I'm sure you could teach me a few things. Have a good day my friend! Paul
Hey Paul !!! Another Fantastic Video Brother !!! I was a Rough Carpenter way back in the day , now a Master HVAC Contractor !!! I have been re-doing a stair case for my mother , red oak treads and risers !!! Just did my first coping on some base , I snapped blade clean into like you stated !!! I didn't have any extra blades , so I used a jig saw , did a pretty good job , and used a file to clean up !!! I wish I had found your videos before I started !!! LOL .. Great Instructional Videos Paul !!!
Thanks Paul! Too many videos assume you know something or the person simply has no clue how to teach. Your video is top notch and explains it in a nice simple way with great tips.
Hi Paul, I guess I will check but do you have any videos on hardwood installation. I helped my buddy do it once but he was the brains behind it. It came out crooked by the way..haha. Seriously, I just need a refresher on how to get things started in regards to measuring the floor, especially if not level or square or when something like a stairway is involved or a doorway from one room through the door and into hallway. Ceramic tile and backsplash would be good too..haha...I know I know, I ask a lot.
Paul, thanks for showing me an easy way to do bull nose cuts. I'm new at this and I had one I really struggled with. Now I'll go back and fix the rest. Great video I look forward to seeing all your others.
I have a corner cabinet installed and Im trying to find out how to cut crown molding to go from one wall around the corner cabinet to the other wall. Do you have any videos to show how to do this?
you a genius !!! thank you. I'm going to install crown molding in my home all by my self thanks to you ,,, and prove some people there wrong in the process ,,,
+marisol padilla Hi Marisol, You are giving me way too much credit, but I really appreciate your comment! I hope my video helps you and I would really like to know how your project come out. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks! Paul
Paul, we are following your instruction on sand finish on the ceiling..it has been 29 yrs and has been painted with ceiling paint thru the years…its giving us a hard time. Seems like just the sand is coming off, nothing like what yours looked like. What do you suggest?????
Thanks for your fantastic video's, I did my first FANCY Crown on Kitchen Cabinets..Bought me a Pin nailer worked fantastic My highest respect. can't wait for more vids Gman
Hey Gman, It;s good to hear from you and I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. I just added a video on flat crown and I will be doing one on cathedral crown in the future. Thanks! Paul
When cutting the flat piece, I always make it a little longer than the wall so that it bows out slightly. That way when you nail it down it pushes against the coped cut. This protects you against fluctuations in temperature and humidity.
As in many trades, there are the tricks that make that precision look. How do you measure so that the finished product fits exactly. A 16th too short or too long can be frustrating. Thank you for sharing your expertise.
I always leave my line when cutting my material. Use a sharp pencil when marking your material. If you are taking an inside measurement, do not bend your tape in a corner. Take your measurement from one side to an even number ,then take a measurement from the other side and add the 2 measurements together. This will give you a perfect inside measurement. I hope this helps. Thanks! Paul
It doesn't look as hard DIY crown molding anymore after I saw your video. After few trials and errors, my crown molding doesn't look as nice and perfect as yours but not to bad really. Thanks for the info Paul.
Hi Paul, I have a question for you. Can I buy and use a pin nail gun when doing crown molding on my walls or do you recommend using a brad nail gun for crown molding on my home walls? I am just a DIY'er trying to learn. Thanks so much!
Eddie Franklin Hi Eddie, A pin nail gun will not work when installing crown on walls. The longest nail is 1" long and the nail is very thin. I would suggest an 18 gauge trim nail gun for crown and base molding. Most of the time you will be working with paint grade crown and trim, the nail holes can be easily filled with putty Thanks! Paul
Dude you rock. Thank you for the two videos i have in favorite folder. You made this very simple. But i do have wood background. But you answered many questions. Great job with video info an x6xd examples. Thanks again Mutt
Hi Paul I was watching another vedio were the guy was doing a return an he call it some other name an I comment by accident it went to u I'm sorry .when I saw your vedio udo really nice work
PAUL!!! ur coping? copeing? anyways, that CUT that u showed was the EASIEST shown cut out of liek 4 videos ive seen. not until i SAW YOUR DEMONSTRATION did i say. OOOOOHHHHHHHHH!!!! thats what that is! :o) thank u!!!
Hi Harrish, I hope you don;t take this wrong, but this it is not a return. I do show what a return is on 7.10 of this video. A return is when you are actually capping the end and returning it into the wall. I appreciate your input, it's obvious that you know about construction. Thanks! Paul
I have a corner cabinet installed and Im trying to find out how to cut crown molding to go from one wall around the corner cabinet to the other wall. Do you have any videos to show how to do this?
+Brian Dunn Hi Brian, I'm sorry, but I do not have any videos on that. If you are referring to an inside corner cabinet, you should have a 45 degree angle. A 45 degree angle calls for 2, 22.5 degree miter cuts. If you have any questions, please let me know. Good Luck! Paul
