It’s a combination of things:
- The example you provide is perfect, a basketball simulation should be able to mirror real life. It is obvious that they code everything in isolation.
- A lack of detail of player attributes and tendencies, which is not data driven at all. This should be so easy to replicate in this day and age.
- Finally, what your channels and others aim to fix! Jump shots and actually ensuring each player plays like their real life counterparts.
The fact that no matter what level you play the AI players never cook up, all these sigs and they never break ankles they just dribble around like it the 1960s until the slip by you with some artificial speed burst. Or they just dribble into the defenders chest repeatedly like their brain dead. That alone showed me how trash the game was. They literally all play exactly the same..
I also wish they could better implement offensive schemes to who is on the court. Denver knows when Jokic has the ball he’ll find an open cutter but in 2k there are no cuts, and how the warriors give draymond the ball to let Steph run crazy and get open. 2k is like basketball in the 80s rn. You can isolate or run a set play that takes the entire shot clock
I have been a fan of the 2k series since the first game on Dreamcast and for me the most important thing is that the game feels real and authentic.
The biggest problem we face is 2k’s aproach to the community. 2k has lost its essence moving away from a simulated experience to an entertainment only one.
This is my humble opinion..
2k must divide the community and develop to completely separate games.
I explain,
If you create two completely different experiences, you will have the entire community satisfied by givin them the opportunity to play whatever they want to play.

Features (Online and Offline complete customization)
* Nba Roster
* Complete Classic Teams
* Create a Roster ( 2k share, croosplatform)
* Create a Team (2k share, croosplatform)
* Create a Player
* Jumpshot creator (Ability to rotate players)
* Free Trow Creator (new feature)
* Black Top
2k Park (Only)
* Neighborhood
* My Team
* My Career
* My GM
*(Every mode that involves online gaming and microotransactions)
Completely agree. Just had a conversation that if possible 2k should try and buy out NBA live and make that they’re arcade style game and keep the 2k we all know as the real approach. Might be a lot of work but it really gives them an opportunity to get some of the details for the game right.
The problem with the double team is that u can only control 1 or 2 player what u asking is basically the 2k ai in you're team making every rotation when a pass get swung which would be completly broken for the guy on the offense

CPU also have to go out their way to feed the hot hand. And when the CPU is inbounding the ball they never pass it to a guy that hard cut to the basket and got open, instead they are programmed to just wait for 5 seconds and pass to a guy standing completely still. Alley oops from the inbound especially when the shot clock is low would be cool to see as well..No clever improvisation just 100% bot behavior still in 2k24 lol
That's why i think nba 2k14 was the best at this particular defensive scheme. Obviously it wasn't perfect, but a lot of times AI would rotate pretty nicely. And the AI also liked to play the help defense off their man a little bit, which kinda mimic'ed this "looking to help for their teammates".

Yeah 2k will never be ever to replica real life the game today involves a lot of help d guys scrambling late contest sprint out..like another thing that wouldn’t work well is drop coverage that centers play in todays game 🤦🏾♂️ games never going to be perfect it’s barely suitable

No way, 😂 if 2K smart enough to make their AI react like real human and they won't be keep selling those VC. Just keep dreaming. 2K will only make copy paste every year, unless something happens on management level.
