Having lived thru several large earthquakes & fires I learned to always have an emergency bag packed all docs and necessary meds and 3 changes of clothes stay packed and ready to go I do not borrow from the bag and just update meds annually also extra eyeglasses inside,,, this has served me well over the years
So smart!
Living in the tropics I do this as well because these hurricanes do not play!

Maybe a more fun fashion emergency is, you were contacted to style your favorite fashion icon (i.e., Tracee Ellis Ross) and the caveat is you have to create 3 full outfits using only items from your closet 😂😂😂 that would be fun especially using the same 5 minutes ❤
Great idea for a fashion emergency! Maybe i should’ve given a more defined situation because im getting looked at like i don’t have real emergency backpacks, weapons, and plans set here in my ny home, office and Maryland family home. I just wanted to play in the clothes 🤣🤣

I know what i can do …. I’m going to add that my videos are to, at times, escape from our messed up world…. Because when I’m creating content , it’s a medium of art for me and a form of escapism from harsh realities. Then we go back to being responsible after. And i may make fake fun scenarios / fashion emergencies a series. It could even be a manifesting series because i would love for Tracee to contact me! So thank you for that!💚

I would grab my LV duffle to throw everything in, my Prada cashmere sweater, my two Chanel bags and vintage sunglasses, my grandmother's skirt, my mother's gold bamboo bracelets, and a dress and top I've had since I was 13.
I was like..., "Get all of your sentimental jewelry!!!"
I’m not in the “declutter cause you’re supposed to” camp. You worked hard for these pieces and you love them. Yes, get rid of things that no longer serve you. But enjoy the pieces you have curated so carefully as part of your life’s work!!

There is literally nothing in my closet that I would need to grab in case of an emergency...I would grab my car keys, my wallet, my phone, my charger, important documents,

My next door neighbor house caught fire and I knew my wood house was next. I put on new pj’s so I would look presentable. I grabbed my phone, purse, 22k gold jewelry cache, emergency money stash and some important papers. I didn’t care about my clothes or anything. I only cared for my safety and my husband. Now my daughter lived on 3rd floor and she was really upset about her clothes and shoes. Mind you after it all, I did everything to keep my clothes and get the smoky smell out. Believe me in the moment your decisions will be different. Because I always thought that I would take my art work off the wall. I would have taken my Tiffany bracelet and my fendi because they were gifts but girl never take anything from Zara. They will reproduce it later.

This was definitely a “fashion game” as i stated in the beginning so it would be taken lightly. Trust me I live in a house that has three emergency backpacks, weapons by the door and bedside, my purse is always in the same place with my laptop, next to important documents. I’m sure in the moment of a true emergency of life and death, I’m not going to be a content creator worried about things that can be replaced, i would be the woman who has emergency plan already in place with family members that need to know. This video was a focus on fashion items in a wonky emergency and i hope that is what everyone takes away from it. I feel bad that I’ve triggered responses that sort of make me feel regretful for making light of a fashion game.

Real talk - I would really need to talk about what if anything I would grab! I agree with the obvious stuff you mentioned like documents etc. I think I’m leaning towards anything practical or sentimental. 🤔

Since I train people on Emergency Preparedness, I wanted to say this video actually shows that even just 5min, you will not have time to really grab everything you need, even if your are very organized. That is why people should have a GRAB-N-GO bag already prepared. "Judge Yourself, leave me Alone!"🤣🤣 I'd have a pair of good running shoes along with rain-proof jacket and bag. Cheers Beautiful!

I didn't know what to expect, but this was a really good igniter for priority setting. I like the fact that you were thinking about special items to keep vs. grabbing essentials (that could more easily be replaced). I applaud your genuine and spontaneous approach to this video!

For the sake of this experiment:
Suit, pumps, 2 pairs of jeans, gaggle of tops, dress, 2 sweatsuits, workout clothes, sneakers, slippers, boots, computer, medicine, blanket, bottled water, car keys (important docs already secured). This would be for an unclear emergency.

Well CG during the Northridge earthquake my building was Red tag and we were sent to a parking lot everyone had on pjs, shorts but this one lady is there in her full length mink coat and L.V purse.🤣😄
Now I have a backpack with hanes sweatsuit copy of Birth certificate, license, ked Sneakers , undies. It was 20 days before we could go back home. the Salvation army gave us vouchers. Im blessed to have family close by.

Back in the cookie jar and like always she had us cracking up because reality actually hit at the end that there no way she can grab her most cherish things in 5 minutes unless you kept them all together in the coat closet by the door. I was totally losing as the time was clocking down and it became frantic.
The video you might be thinking about on Karen's channel is "Wardrobe Pieces To Never Throw Away!!!", this is where she goes over what she would grab in a fire. I believe she did have this discussion a few times (but not as dramatic as the one I mentioned)
Watching you and realize I would be grabbing all living being first, then my purse, photo album, laptop, and portable file storage because I would need to prove to the insurance what I lost in the fire. Your video reminded me that it is necessary to keep an inventory on my laptop of your valuables so that you can provide the list to insurance.
I thought at first this was going to be Fashion Emergency of how to hurry and put looks together for pop up moments when you get a call to attend, and you got an hour to get there. What your thought process to even start putting a look together.

Happy Sunday, Queen Cookie! Hilarious! I would need a do-over, too! Girl, I'm overwhelmed. 😂😂😂😂 With my maximalist self, I would grab my blue Suzie Orman document box that I keep next to my bed- I have had this box next to my bed for 15 years- I just add to it and purge as my daughter would need to have it in case of an emergency. She hates it when I mention the blue box when I'm traveling. Next, I would grab my Hermes and Bottega bags. Lastly, my timeless jewelry. My crystal and all other expensive pieces are insured. Okay, this stressed me out, 😭😭😭😭but thank you for doing this exercise. It made me think about what’s important. Things can be replaced - your life cannot! With that said, I have spent decades curating a nice wardrobe and would be hard-pressed to start over. I would probably be converted to a minimalist. 😂😂😂😂😂. See you next time❤️❤️❤️
It does put things in perspective. My first thing is that my important documents are in a fire/waterproof safe. Would I leave them because of that reason or would I take up precious time looking for the key? I would grab my bag which has my purse and my cellphone. What I learned from this video, I am going to record my high end purchases. Just so I have a record for an insurance claim. Ms. Carolyn you have stumbled on something. When you show us a purchase that is your record. My list is really the photo albums, rick owens doc marten collab boots, my bag, a coat, a plant.

You are hilarious 😂. But in all seriousness. In my emergencies I grab my purse, keys, shoes I kept by the door. And dammed everything else. When I went back, I looked for the items I hoped survived. For reference my emergencies were fire and earthquake. So I would say that the items you grabbed were the items you'd want to still retain or hoped survived. ❤
I remember that KarenBritChick video! But I also don't remember what it was called 😅 I have a much smaller closet than you, so it's significantly easier to organize and rank my clothing in terms of its monetary and sentimental value.
I'd probably have my pair of white leather sneakers, my one nice pair of black boots, my most comfortable pair of jeans, a couple of mock necks, one or two knit sweaters (sentimental), and my one nice, expensive coat.

I got rid of a lot of shoes that I regret due to visibility. If I had a closet where I can see everything I would wear everything I can relate sis.clothes are clothes if I had to run out my house I would go naked for life 😂TMI😂
I am surprised you didn’t grab your luxury jewelry. That would be one of the first things I would think about.
Having a list made it less authentic. In a real emergency situation, you wouldn't have a list. But I love the concept. Now, it got me thinking. I think we should keep these things closer to the door.
This is an interesting concept. If I was in Gaza or the Ukraine or Haiti, or if there was an apocalypse, what would I take other than my phone, purse, laptop and chargers? (Assuming there would be electricity...) For clothes, I'd take all of my lounge wear so I'd be comfortable, I'd take gym shoes and boots, I'd take my jewelry that's real silver and gold, no costume, I'd take a winter coat, a jean jacket, one pair of jeans, several t-shirts, socks and underwear.
Considering I have 2 closets, an armoire, several bins (for other seasons), and a dresser filled with clothes, it's interesting to realize what I feel I actually need. Very interesting. Thanks for a very thought provoking video.

I think every person should always have a bag(s) packed with one's essentials as if they were running from the Feds. Money, passport, clothing, meds, phone, cards, keys. Aint no way you reaching for any of those other things in a real emergency as they all can be replaced
