- In this edition of Wilson Center NOW, we speak with Robert Daly, Director of the Wilson Center’s Kissinger Institute. He highlights Secretary Blinken’s recent trip to China and examines whether a new Cold War has developed between the two nations. Daly also discusses how the Biden administration’s goal of “managed competition” with Beijing is playing out with continued tensions over the South China Sea, Ukraine conflict, and China’s attempts to leverage the ongoing Israel-Hamas War for improved relations with the global south.
It’s like telling your basketball opponents, hey stop raining 3 pointers on us because we won’t be able to catch up.
China-US Relations: Did Secretary Blinken’s Trip Move the Needle?
Yes, in the wrong direction.
Blinked needs to repay the chinese debt the US owes 😊
Back in March 2021 , Blinken told Chinese diplomats that he was talking to China "from a position of strength" and
asked China to obey the US "International Rules Based Order" . He was rebutted by the Chinese diplomat - Yang Jiechi
immediately . It was a great improvement that Bliinken didn't quarrel w/ Chinese diplomats again this time !
Noting is accomplished by these ..............
Very informative
Going all this way to China to buy a Taylor Swift record would move Taylor Swift's fans needle, not sure about it will do it for the Chinese though.
Frivolity aside, one hot day doesn't make a summer. Blinking and his cohort have been doing their leveled best to irritate China, with Taiwan being top on the list. I can't see eating dumplings with chopsticks, or even "accidentally" ventured into the "happy mushroom" territory by Janet Yellen, would ease the tensions between the two nations.
Sure, the needle moved, backward
Threatening is moving the needle?
Blinken is totally useless, went to Isreal for 7 times and achieve nothing, maybe he should pursure a carrer in music industry..
Best comment 👏🤣 so far
