- Metsäkukkia by Viljo Vesterinen - The Woodland Flowers.
Lorna Pollock, accordion.
"The best-known accordion compositions in Finland even today are Sakkijarven polkka and the waltz Metsäkukkia (Woodland Flowers). Vesterinen recorded both of these melodies in the 1930s and made them well-known masterpieces of popular accordion music. All accordionists in Finland know these melodies. Metsäkukkia is an old Russian tune, known in Russia as the Kursk-Valtz. The first recording of this tune was made by Vesterinen in 1937. He made another version of this tune for the Baltic record-market in 1940, now named Saimas Krastos (Lake Saimaa Wawes)." -- Markko Tikka

I had several years of piano training as a child. I started with the accordion when I was in my 40s. I let it go for awhile and then returned in 2009 with great enthusiasm, even more so since getting my Roland in 2010. It's all about putting in the time and playing music you love. I do not play very complex music - not able to - my hands have seen better days - I overworked them gardening. But you don't need to be a virtuoso to play good music that people enjoy.
Merry Christmas to you!
Lorna
Merci, l'émotion pure 🌤
Thanks very much ❤️🤗
So well done and one of my favorite accordion tunes to play. Many Thanks Lorna. I love what you do on the Roland ❤!
Thanks very much! After several years of enjoying the Roland I sold it to a professional musician. I kept it in like new condition. A fine instrument.
@@accordiona I am in my early 70’s and initially started on Rolands. I owned pretty much all of them except for the 7X. Later I switched to acoustic and have 3 of them. Not sure I will ever return to digital accordions but they have some cool features. I also have issues with arthritis in my hands which in someways limits most of my playing to the smaller ones, like 72 or 96 bass types. Thanks for all you have done to play great music over the years and by all means I hope you are able to continue gardening!
I always enjoy listening to you playing the accordion. God bless you.
thanks very much - very happy you enjoy it!

Hi, I live in California. I wish I had learned Spanish, though the 4 years of Latin I studied has served me well. I use Google Translate to communicate with Spanish-speaking friends.
