Hi guys! So I've gotten some recurring questions, especially from ferret owners, that I thought I'd answer real quick 😊. I plan to do more videos on Zoe, but these are the pressing questions. Like I said in the video, I've had Zoe since July 2017; almost 3 years now. 1. Zoe does much better alone. Lol. Ferrets generally do MUCH better with two or more, but due to their personalities and/or upbringing, some ferrets just don't like other ferrets. Since early 2018, I've tried soooo hard to integrate another ferret. I watched countless "Introducing Ferrets" videos and used the techniques that you're supposed to, like slowly introducing them and NOT throwing them together and expecting them to get along 💀 At every attempt, Zoe was NOT having it. To her, I'm her pack. I'm her other ferret, haha. I work from home mostly, so we spend every single day together, hours on end. Over 3 years, I've tried EVERY kind of bedding: paper, wood pellets, wood chips, recycled paper pellets, blankets, litter boxes, no litter boxes, a litter box here and no littler box there--you name it. She's had absolutely NO respiratory problems, not even a little sneezing, with paper bedding. But, to make absolute sure, I put her usual wood pellets at the top and paper at the bottom just in case she did have problems. I forgot to explain that in the video which probably would've been helpful lol. this was my second ever youtube vid, gimme some slack 💀 Since a month has gone by, she still has had no issues, but I'm probably just gonna switch to only wood pellets because of the cost... and honestly I'm just paranoid that she may have underlying issues and she's not showing signs. Some ferrets potty train EASY with no accidents, and some just never get it. I was explaining on a comment how potty training Zoe has been an ongoing struggle, and how I've tried literally everything. Someone else commented; "maybe properly educate yourself on potty training them then?" ...........girl........... what do you think I've been doing for the past 3 years? 💀💀💀💀💀💀 I would have a set up that works for 6-8 months with no accidents, and I would reward her when she used the right spots. Then suddenly, Zoe would start having accidents again. I think it could be multiple reasons. It could be due to her being from Marshall Ferret Farms and possibly having some development issues (I found out about them AFTER I got Zoe... google them if you don't already know how corrupt they are), it could be her just being stubborn (lol), or it could just be that she chose a new place to go. What I do know is that nothing drastic changed during these times, and I didn't change bedding. Her accidents were always super unexpected. Most ferret owners I've talked to, including the ones from the Ferret Rescue I mentioned, have said their ferrets are 70-80% accurate with using litter boxes. Right now, Zoe free roams during the day and is in her cage at night. She uses her cage to potty, and one other litter box in the corner of my apartment. We've had no accidents since this setup 🤞 I appreciate your comments, even the passive aggressive ones lol. I get it--we are tired of people impulse buying ferrets, and not doing the research to ensure that their ferrets have the best quality of life. Just know that I love this little baby more than anything, and I am CONSTANTLY evaluating her environment and making sure that she is THRIVING. Even when she had her old small cage, she free roamed, besides the 6-8 hours I was asleep. She is happy, healthy, and living her best domesticated life 😂 Thank you !!!

If you think the new cage is too small........ it’s literally the same size as the ferret nation jfkskdksks I addressed every comment that had a concern: the rubber toy, the bedding, and that was it 🤷♂️ Obviously there’s a lot of tension in the world right now and you probably have a lot going on. Zoe is thriving-assuming you’re from the US, why don’t you put your energy into the fact that black people are being mistreated, abused and MURDERED by white policemen everyday?

Ignore that girl Ashlyn lmao as long as your ferret can go out of her cage when she wants during the day, you’re good girl😂 considering ferrets sleep an average of 18 hours a day you probably have her out plenty enough. About the litter box you use for her! How big is it? Also, pee mats are a NEED for me! Have you tried them?
FYI to potential ferret owners, I’d recommend the Ferret Nation cage over this one. It’s bigger and easier to clean because it has front doors that open completely so you can reach anywhere you need to. This cage seems cool too, but there’s a reason the Ferret Nation is one of the most popular with ferret owners ;-).
Considering they aren't technically supposed to even be caged animals, the largest cage possible (like your suggestion Ferret Nation is best, I have my 3 girls in an aviary so they can roam just not throughout the house/it's also see-through so I can keep an eye on them) but keeping her in a rabbit cage for 3 years, even as only one ferret is neglectful unless she's getting the appropriate hours of free roam time every single day.
Taylor Lou-ann like rabbits I have 2 rabbits and they free roam ferrets and rabbits are like the only small animal besides small dogs and cats that free roam
fiesty ferret cage is good you just have to cover the wires. i’d definitely get the ferret nation cage soon because of the doors, floors, and expansions, BUTTTTT the other is good on a budget and haven’t had any problems so far after ab a year.
We ditched the bedding and just use old T-Shirts and different texture fabrics, some smooth, some fuzzy, he likes to crawl through the shirts and he tucks himself in like a little burrito. Less dirty, plus he doesn't sneeze as much. Then every week, we just pull them out, wash them and put them back.
I’ve had zoe for 3 years and she’s never had a prob with the bedding. I’ve tried everything. No matter if I had a litter box or not, she always goes outside of it. You put a litter box with the t shirts, right? Because reusing poop and pee t shirts can cause a whole other set of probs
@@jenneawelch There is a litter box in the cage, he is really good at using it. It is also a much smaller cage then what you have, so he didn't have that many options of where to go. :)
my ferrets never had a cage, they just roamed the apartment like they owned the place, and only problems they did were when me and my gf went to sleep, they would crawl under the planket and maybe nip a few times
Yeah my ferrets are also free roam. They're like cats in that way and can learn to only use a litter pan. Accidents happened very seldom in the beginning of training but now they never poop or pee outside of the litter pan or peepee pads. It helps if there's a hardwood floor or tile floor instead of carpeting for easy cleanup. I ferret proofed one room and it's got litter boxes in the corners. the cage is in there too but they only use it as a place to go eat or sleep. I got our two ferrets as emotional support animals for my daughter who has aspergers. They have really been great for her. I recommend pazuandfriends UA-cam channel. We have learned so much about ferrets and ferret care from her. ps. Your little Zoe is so adorable! and you made an awesome cage setup

I had my own queen for 11 years and she passed days after you posted it, and I couldn't watch 😓 I hid this video and had it saved so when I was feeling better I could watch it. Yesterday me and my love FINALLY found another ferret and we brought him home!! So I've basically come full circle and am watching this putting together my kings new home. 11 years? Holy macro! Your ferret lived a long life. Ferret’s life span is around 6-10 years and it's rare for them to live 10 years. So you must have been a great owner to your ferret for it to live past its life expectancy

Cats are so sweet and adorable. I have one myself whos 5 and ive had him since he was a kitten. Hes super affectionate and clingy. When you get close to them, you realize how much of a personality they have. Id recommend one 100%
Our cat kills mice and then she leaves it in random rooms but if you like tell it not but if you don't have mice in your room then sure get a cat like kittens like they're very fun like you can like put your hand down and start playing with him and yeah you should get a kitten
I love how to treat your ferret! The only things I would chage are.... Change the bedding to baby blankets! It is way less cheaper in the long run and when you clean all you need is to wash the blankets! And I saw that pig toy, is that rubber? There is a video all about ferret toys and it was just uploaded today or yesterday and it is by a FerretTuber named @Pazuandfriends . She is really helpful and is all about ferret education! (That was really long now I need to go to bed QwQ)
Hi! I’ve tried every kind of bedding. Fleece, paper bedding, wood shavings, wood pellets, ALL kinds of litter boxes, no litter box at all, you name it lol. The baby blankets are super unhygienic in my experience. They wipe their butt after they poop and it’s gross. Even if I put a litter box down, she’ll still poop and pee on the blanket. She’s had absolutely no problems with the paper bedding or wood pellets, and I’ve had for almost 3 years. Also, the rubber toy is just a decoration lol. She never chews on it. I watch her closely every day and there’s absolutely no risk.

Jennea Welch I use wood pellets and blankets on the other levels and honestly they make such a mess of the blankets, if my cage had deeper levels I would deffo use the bedding you use it would be so much easier 😂 I love the little pig toy, I have keyring cage danlgies like you too, but they’re Moomins characters, and they have a big stuffed groak from the moomins too 😂 for no other reason than I love the moomins xD
People who talk about rats or mice when FERRETS are the topic need to just LEAVE lmao ferrets hunt rodents they're NOT rodents and if ferrets remind anyone of rats or mice then they need to look at rats and mice closer up and see they look nothing alike
She's precious! I've had a few ferrets throughout the years. I had one that was a lil klepto. He stole my jewelry, socks, & money & would hide it under my bed. When I say money, he would even take dollar bills and made a dragons lair of treasures he had stolen. Such a creep, but he was the best. She's a lucky girl for you to have found each other. 🖤

I loved this video, in the past two months ive had two of my ferrets pass away, they were very old (thats why not because of something dumb or poor care), Ive still got 3 other ferrets left but theyre all pretty old, Their cage is a bit bigger then Zoeys but I loved this video lol, made me think of my ferrets when they were little, thank you! :)
Cats pretty much take care of themselves. Just gotta feed, water, clean litter box, & give love. Oh yeah, and receive love back. I have a big kitty named Butters The Cat.

I used to use that bedding for my hamsters and stuff and when you said "I already know this stuff is gonna be everywhere" I felt that on a spiritual level. My hamster passed away months ago and I'm still finding that bedding everywhere in my room.
Same I'm gonna make a diy house similar to Little Adventures, with a backyard that's a campfire playground theme, and then a town area. The males will have rooms close to the main (where the girls will live) with plexiglass mirror
Good luck with them I’ve had one for about a year now and she’s insanely scared of every. This closest she gets to being comfortable around me is sometimes licking my finger when I’m at her cage and even then she’ll stop and run away😂
@@pedropenisman1306 Don't worry! It took mine a while too, just give her time and she'll love you. Picking her up and playing with her, feeding her a carrot while you're holding it, and petting her in the cage helps her trust you more :)
Alex320 she rarely even lets me touch her I got her because when my other guinea pig died she left behind a cage mate. She was doing fine but I rather would have her have a friend and when we got my current one at first she was amazing she didn’t mind being touched too much and loved my other guinea pig. When we finally get her home instantly it was fighting a lot and it was barley fighting it was more of bullying it was so sad to see my guinea pig be terrified of her. But then she’s terrified of people i just don’t get it.

That is the return grill not a supply. The only issues are you don’t want to block it too much to stop airflow and whatever the cage smells like will be circulated through the rest of the apartment.

Jennea Welch that’s the one downside of them. I now have the whole bottom floor just covered in wood chippings now because there was no point in litter boxes xD tbh some of mine refuse to poo in litter boxes anyway so I use puppy pads around the room and wood chippings on the bottom level xD
Jennea Welch I just let them pick the corner they wanted their box in initially. They poo there, the box goes there. When I wanted to move them to a larger box I used cat litter attractant and it worked like a charm.

Ferret Nation is the best cage on the market that meets the needs for noodles!!

My baby is really good with his potty spots, even when playing outside his cage he goes back in to use it.

Change the bedding to baby blankets! It is way less cheaper in the long run and when you clean all you need is to wash the blankets!

Hi! I’ve tried every kind of bedding. Fleece, paper bedding, wood shavings, wood pellets, ALL kinds of litter boxes, no litter box at all, you name it lol. The baby blankets are super unhygienic in my experience. They wipe their butt after they poop and it’s gross. Even if I put a litter box down, she’ll still poop and pee on the blanket. She’s had absolutely no problems with the paper bedding or wood pellets, and I’ve had for almost 3 years. Also, the rubber toy is just a decoration lol. She never chews on it. I watch her closely every day and there’s absolutely no risk.

Jennea Welch I use wood pellets and blankets on the other levels and honestly they make such a mess of the blankets, if my cage had deeper levels I would deffo use the bedding you use it would be so much easier 😂 I love the little pig toy, I have keyring cage danlgies like you too, but they’re Moomins characters, and they have a big stuffed groak from the moomins too 😂 for no other reason than I love the moomins xD

She's precious! I've had a few ferrets throughout the years. I had one that was a lil klepto. He stole my jewelry, socks, & money & would hide it under my bed. When I say money, he would even take dollar bills and made a dragons lair of treasures he had stolen. Such a creep, but he was the best. She's a lucky girl for you to have found each other. 🖤

I loved this video, in the past two months ive had two of my ferrets pass away, they were very old (thats why not because of something dumb or poor care), Ive still got 3 other ferrets left but theyre all pretty old, Their cage is a bit bigger then Zoeys but I loved this video lol, made me think of my ferrets when they were little, thank you! :)

Good luck with them I’ve had one for about a year now and she’s insanely scared of every. This closest she gets to being comfortable around me is sometimes licking my finger when I’m at her cage and even then she’ll stop and run away😂
@@pedropenisman1306 Don't worry! It took mine a while too, just give her time and she'll love you. Picking her up and playing with her, feeding her a carrot while you're holding it, and petting her in the cage helps her trust you more :)
Alex320 she rarely even lets me touch her I got her because when my other guinea pig died she left behind a cage mate. She was doing fine but I rather would have her have a friend and when we got my current one at first she was amazing she didn’t mind being touched too much and loved my other guinea pig. When we finally get her home instantly it was fighting a lot and it was barley fighting it was more of bullying it was so sad to see my guinea pig be terrified of her. But then she’s terrified of people i just don’t get it.

That is the return grill not a supply. The only issues are you don’t want to block it too much to stop airflow and whatever the cage smells like will be circulated through the rest of the apartment.

Jennea Welch that’s the one downside of them. I now have the whole bottom floor just covered in wood chippings now because there was no point in litter boxes xD tbh some of mine refuse to poo in litter boxes anyway so I use puppy pads around the room and wood chippings on the bottom level xD
Jennea Welch I just let them pick the corner they wanted their box in initially. They poo there, the box goes there. When I wanted to move them to a larger box I used cat litter attractant and it worked like a charm.
