- Check out how genuinely shocked we are walking into this MASSIVE Host Mammoth 11'6 Truck bed camper with not 1, not 2, but 3 POP OUTS! Wow. I'm speechless...
I have a 2019 Host Mammoth and a 2019 F350 Platinum dually to haul it. It’s my retirement wagon. Last week I had a blast boondocking 5 days infield trackside at the Pocono 400 and this coming week Fly Fishing up on the upper Delaware. My rig sports 510W Solar and 480Ah of Lithium. With a 3000W inverter charger. Life is good.

This is the first truck camper that I have ever been impressed with. This is huge!! I have a little trouble with not having any counter space whatsoever (I love my huge crockpot) but if I could see how easy I could store my crockpot and get to it, that might be just fine. I really love how compact it is but has so much room!
it is very impressive carrie, I encourage you to check it out in person! it is quite the beast though, and would require a 1 ton with some good payload!

+Carrie Moore Trust me when I say that you will want this. There is plenty of space under the sink for your crock pot. There is a cabinet door as you are entering and you can store your crock pot SAFELY there. (Remember when he pulled up the additional countertop? It's right there, and it will easily accommodate an 8 quart crock pot.
We have a 2018 Mammoth. There is storage cabinet just as you enter that we keep a 6qt. insta pot and an electric Ice maker along with a portable space heater. Lot's of storage on the Mammoth.
Make sure you get a Super Duty with the 16 foot bed option.
I lived in Bend, Oregon, where they were originally built. I purchased one to move to Alaska in. I had a Dodge Dually and it was a beast. Mine had only two slides, one on each side. you could use the bathroom and get to the bed to sleep without extending the slides, but it was tight. It had everything you could ask for and then some. We finally sold it to get a big fifth wheel toy hauler. I still miss it at times. It was well worth the money.

Down2Mob For someone just starting to look into larger trailers and admittedly not yet that knowledgeable about the field, what is a "truck" trailer. Also, what would be the MSRP on this beauty.
I believe the MSRP on this is around 60-70k. You mean a trailer that you would pull with your truck? or a camper slide in truck bed camper?
Daniel Fronc this unit is a slide on camper that would go into a 1 to 1.5 ton duelly pickup truck w probably a full 8ft bed. Its beautiful but i find the price too high! You can get a modest bumper pull camper for around 20k to start...or a smaller 5th wheel for mid 20s on up.

Man that thing is utterly fantastic, but his camera work does leave little to be desired. I subscribe to this channel and it's one of my favorites. I would have liked to have seen the outside of the camper so I could have some perspective, but he is right the inside is huge. and I guess it works just as well on a trailer as it does in the bed of a truck.
My wife and I viewed this on a Ram 3500 at a trade show in NC last year and I have to say its HUGE. It might be a little to big for me to feel comfortable to drive around in.

Wow, I was as amazed as you two guys. What truck specs do you need to own one of these? I'm assuming my F-250 ain't gonna cut it.
4000lbs base weight, so you pretty much need dual rear wheels or a 2WD truck.

I have a 22 foot hideout with no slide. My friends have bigger campers with slides and they always have problems with them. I camp and have fun while they work on the slide
Smart man. 22 years as an RV service tech here and I agree with you. Spent too many years working on slide room problems. They simply add another layer of service issues to deal with and they can be significant.

Good to know because my husband & i have been talking about selling our home & buying a 5th wheel. I told him a few yrs ago that i could live in a tiny house but would prefer a 5th wheel so when he brought up the subject 2wks ago i was delightfully surprised :)

These campers are extremely nice but simply way to big for most trucks. I bought a Northern lite but wasn't happy with the old style buttons, ac unit etc. The Northern lite could be one of the best campers around but I'm afraid the owner won't upgrade anything but solar panels. So my choice is a Lance 975 but even that is heavy. So all in all it's what you want in a camper. If you want to move and a normal truck camper then get one without a slide. I'm a big man so again I go back to the 975. I can't even imagine a truck camper this big.

I don’t have any experience w truck campers. How do you handle storage for things like a lawn chair and table for sitting outside? Or an SUP, bike, kayak etc. especially if u have solar on roof?
Great question bernie! Check out my recent vid to see my new camper that has tons of room for storing the toys. Inflatable SUP is definitely best, kayaks can go on the roof but obiously limits your height more. I have seen bikes hung off the back or even in the cab of the truck

If your skinny enough you could probably get in. But the rear slide might need to be let out halfway to get in.

Great design but what i dont like about truck campers is that if you want to go out for breakfast its disconnect everything, pull in the slide out , pick up the jacks then set it all back when you return
Why not just drop the camper at the campsite. That's the whole idea.
yes you could but im not too sure how stable it would be with the slide outs, i think you would still have to pull them in. Hey, to each their own. For my part, for the price you pay for these i would rather get a fifth wheel and have more room. Truck campers are great if you are the type that like to drive to some tight places in the woods or next to a stream and hunt and fish out of them. But if im going to be in campgrounds then ill go for more room. Spend a long rainy day with someone in a truck camper and you will see what i mean.
pahuntnut u can leave em set up out of the truck they have stabilizers and Jacks too. Talked to a guy campin w one he had a gas moterhome got 6 to 7 mpg pulled 30'boat w a 350 chevy in it said it sucked in moterhome got one of these one ton dually pulls his boat great 13 or 14 mpg he said he got . Can't pull a 30' boat behind 5th wheel.

Any suggestions on a slide in camper for a 2003 Ford Sport Trac?? it has the very short bed and im having troubles finding model that will fit it.
It would be tough to find a hard side camper to fit that, but not a pop up! Check out four wheel campers and see what you think of those!

Sold mine and got a fifthwheel instead. Had mine from 2015-2018. Do not miss it at all. "Huge" is an understatement. It's also a waste. 7 minute shower, on my 2015 F-450 on an 8% grade I was lucky to achieve 50mph with this monster on. My fuel MPG dropped to about 9 on a good day and in the mountains 4-5. Utter waste. Looks nice but the wear and tear on my truck was a joke. Will gladly stick with my 29 foot. Guess I'm not a millennial who cannot park so I don't worry there.

This really is a nice camper. Is the fireplace real? That would be perfect on cold nights instead of propane heaters. Moisture on everything when you heat with propane, it's the worst.
Lol.. ever hear of a propane furnace? None of the combustion happens in the same air space.
Plus.. having a real fire place is a good way to get dead. More than a few RVs have burned up because of people using mini marine wood stoves for heat.

It's a gas fire, that's indoors, only to provide a romantic atmosphere (Ok I get it, wife happy, life is happy). ;-)
@@TairnKA I'm not sure if its diesel but yes it has a full heating system. I cant believe I defended a fireplace in a camper hahaha it's so unnecessary, but kinda cool. I figure most people that get something like this are planning to love in it for quite some time, so a fireplace might be a nice creature comfort. So silly though overall!
